Yukky? Yukky? What is wrong with you Yankees? nothin' wrong with us....we'se just got taste buds! And cheese grits are a brunch staple! ...so are certain varieties of bugs in parts of the world....doesn't make them tasty or palatable. Grits taste like grit (of the dirt variety). What I don't understand though, is why they are served at just about every meal....they remind me of "Red River" cereal, or "Cream of Wheat" (disgusting stuff, that - it's the next best thing to cement if you let it sit long enough). I have to admit, though, there are, um, some varieties of food here that are enough to curl yer hair! Ahhh, my least favourite would be tofu (ick) and "gummy" anything is horrible (ie: gummy bears).....like trying to eat a rubber band!

Blackeyed peas are just great northern beans with flaws. Look at them they got this big ugly bad spot on each and every one of them. I was going to insert pictures of each to show the beauty of the great northern bean in contrast to the scarred exterior of the blackeyed pea but could make it work - can anyone tell me how to do that?

Look at them they got this big ugly bad spot ...kinda sounds like a lot of "great northern" guys I know - and a few southern ones! Gracey ...as for the picture thing, I believe you need to have it posted and use an [img] code to link it to where you have it (ie on a web page). I don't think you can just "upload" it.

Thanks that explains it (the picture thing that is - not the part about northern guys with big ugly bad spots )

and crumpets are english...which I'm not. Now, offer me a good scottish scone and I might just accept...
How about a Froferbridie? My family participated in an 18th-century festival last month...we worked in the food booth, and one of the items on the menu was the Froferbridie, a Scottish meat pie. Every year, that item gets more fun. This year we had a retired school teacher stop by to argue vehemently over the spelling; three hundred years ago, no one definately decided how this word should be spelled, but people argue anyway. One man asked what the "for fat brides" were. Someone wanted to order a "fur pie". Some called it "fluffy-birdie." Mmm, those things are good.

Grits, just like they are bep. No butter, garlic or sugar. Thats the way to have grits, least to me.

Up north we have a use for grits. It makes our sandpaper work - and we can get them in all varieties but adding butter would not help.

Uh, Willowbirch.... I like 'em fried, like pancakes. You like what fried? The bugs or the grits? And if the grits, how can you fry that sloppy mess of white stuff? How about a Froferbridie? Well, we just call em bridie's. They'se okay....on the other hand, haggus is just digusting, blech! So are sweetbreads Sincereheart: Might be cause all the ingredients are white??!! I suppose....but all the ingredients in my kitchen paint are white and it's not so good. I did try it, but it's seems so tasteless compared to "roast" gravy. Gracey peace †
