You don't hafta watch it all in one sitting...

That's good! Cause I fell asleep halfway through!  Lips Sealed
Now I get to try and pick up the flow....

The part I was awake for was good! I had forgotten that Paul was a serious actor.... Apparently the movie had quite an effect in its day even if it wasn't entirely accurate!  Grin

Peter Lawford did well playing the arrogant one that you just like not liking!  Grin

I fell asleep during the part where Sal Mineo was confessing what happened to him.  Lips Sealed

Yes, DW, that's how it is for me.  Watching it you don't want to stop.  Of course, a lot a movies are that way.  Or any good storytelling.

That's okay, sincereheart.  I was hoping I hadn't sent you down a blind alley, but you sound like you'all are 'enjoying' it(tho I'm not sure it's a type of story you 'enjoy').

Yes, the part where you fell asleep, actually, would be a very unpopular part these days.  Perhaps why the movie is rarely mentioned any more - embarrassing for the gay 'rights' movement, and they would have to edit that part.

The gays that I know seem quick to erase any evidence of objections, in the past, to their 'lifestyle'.

They would accuse Sal Mineo, I suppose, of being homophobic, I guess.

What we see happening in our society, I'm sad to say, is very evil.  Every bit the evil.

And there it is portrayed for what it is - if only in passing, and only for a few minutes.

I guess if the movie were ever shown in a public school or university setting, these days, for its history benefit, the prof would be quick to definitely edit that part.  Can't have young freshmen hearing even one critical word of this new 'lifestyle'.
Curiously, that's exactly how any despot always moves into power - he (or she) doesn't allow anything critical.

Sounds like the one I know.

They would edit the movie down to 1 hour. That is after cutting out all the best parts.

I have not seen the Exodus movie before but it seems really good. I need to check it out soon.

Has anyone seen the movie called  The Grey Zone?

It is based on real life events. It chronicles a unit of Auschwitz's Sonderkommando a special squad of Jewish prisoners who staged the only armed revolt that would ever take place at Auschwitz.

the actors are David Arquette, Daniel Benzali, Steve Buscemi, Harvey Keitel, Natasha Lyonne, Mira Sorvino.

It is i believe one of the saddest movies i have ever seen about the holocaust.

That movie came out nearly 20 years before I was born (I was born in 1982), but I did rent it from the library one time (the only place I could find it) and think it's an excellent film. The theme song is great. The instrumental version is probably best remembered, but here are the lyrics:

Quote
This land is mine, God gave this land to me
This brave and ancient land to me
And when the morning sun reveals her hills and plain
Then I see a land where children can run free

So take my hand and walk this land with me
And walk this lovely land with me
Though I am just a man, when you are by my side
With the help of God, I know I can be strong

Though I am just a man, when you are by my side
With the help of God, I know I can be strong

To make this land our home
If I must fight, I'll fight to make this land our own
Until I die, this land is mine!
