Thats not very nice
Then it's a good thing I don't claim to be a very nice person.
We all should be like you and watch Harry Potters movies over and over
You'll get more out of those movies than you'll get out of reading that Left Behind crap.
QUOTE SAP: You'll get more out of those movies than you'll get out of reading that Left Behind crap. Then maybe I will know as mush as you do. < ))><

Well, if newer people stop coming to this site or get offended because of something they read online by some 16-year-old who, as it has been shown here time and again, has no valid opinions and quite simply is not allowed to have any until he gets into college (because, apparently, you're automatically respected by everyone at that age), then they're the ones with the problems, not me.
You know, Ben has a valid point here. In the two (or so...) years he's been here, his thoughts have been constantly dismissed based on his age. "He's too young to know what he's talking about." Followed by, "He's old enough to know better." Just an observation.

I have just started reading the first Left Behind book. It's sometimes hard to read though because I think of all of those I know who will be 'left behind'. How do some of you all cope with this? I have so many friends and family who believe that just becuase they believe in God or go to church that they will go to heaven.
Fiction, based on opinions of what the Bible says.

The moral; Respect others as you want to be respected.
It's a good bet that people who like the Left Behind series don't deserve much of my respect. And people who don't like the Harry Potter books but praise the LB books definitely don't deserve my respect, especially if they haven't read a certain one of those series (I'm looking in your direction, Brother Love)...
So here's my point. I'm sorry if alliecat leaves because of my obviously inane comments, but it's really not my fault if he/she does. Reading "mean" or "rude" comments on a random website should not warrant leaving that website, easpecially since this person doesn't know me personally.
Let me put this in perspective for you; Some kid in another part of the world who posts something a little mean on a random message board is definitely a good reason for a newer member to leave said message board. Right.
Anywho. This thread has gotten a little off-topic.

Ah but see, I have read Harry Potter series. I have also read The Left Behind series. I like both of them but, both are fictional books. Yes there is truth in the The Left Behind series. So of what is written I disagree with, some I agree with. Both series are entertaining. Both series deserve praise, both series are well written.

What was the topic? Oh yeah... the Left Behind series. I read the first few and enjoyed them. I lost interest after the third or fourth one. It's been awhile..... The only real problem that I have with the books is that so many people use them in place of Scripture!

I could see where it might be easy for some to mix parts of such a book with scripture and start believing it is scripture. Hadn't really considered that until you brought it up. Grace and Peace! Grace and Peace!

They're just too literal. It's like the authors never considered that Revelation is likely a book of metaphors.

Ben, I think that's why I liked the series originally. I hadn't thought of Revelation in a literal way. It started me thinking of the what ifs..... What if it is literal? What if it happens just like it says? So it was a neat concept and a new one. Like I said, though, I lost interest in the series. I do think that what happens will surprise us all and yet we'll be able to say 'Oh! That's what was meant.... it seems so clear now that we KNOW!' 2nd Timothy, I was a bit dismayed when I heard a group of women at a table in a restaraunt discussing the books as if they were Scripture. That led me to listening more to others and realizing that quite a few folks were basing their salvation on two men's opinions of what could be. We were enjoying them here for entertainment and a chance to delve deeper into Scripture and discuss. I enjoyed that aspect of it immensely!
