No, the most challenging hunts are the ones that produce the worst meat. Like bear. That same guy said that bear meat is essentially nothing but lard and is rather unappetizing (he's eaten it, too). But bear are one of the most challenging game in North America. It doesn't seem quite fair. Roll Eyes

We have no bears here... but my husband loves to hunt turkey and deer and quail and duck and dove and....

I've never cooked it -- only eaten it! Grin

It was fried and delicious!

You egg and flour it, season to taste. fry in a cast iron skillet for a few minutes, (med-low heat) turn it over and in a few minutes you have good meat.

Before I got hurt, I use to hunt elk. Hiking 5-10 miles into the woods, tracking my prey. I love the taste of elk, Yes it is a sport.

Okay, get ready for a long story.

When we lived in Colorado, my dad shot a 13-point (non-typical) elk. He was up in the mountains near Pagosa Springs. He was waiting near a creek when an elk came trudging through the woods. He raised his .308, aimed, and let off three shots. The elk dropped. When my dad came up to it, he noticed a wound on the elk's rump. He had been aiming for the shoulder, and he couldn't believe his aim had been that bad. Well, later my dad met a friend of his. It turns out his friend and taken a pot shot at a running elk. He figured he had wounded it, but it got away. He was kicking himself because he should have known better than to shoot at a running elk. Well, it turns out that the elk my dad had shot, and the elk his friend had shot were the same one. Now there's a coincedence for ya.

I don't really remember what the meat tasted like, but I know it was good. We had elk for dinner for a LONG time after that. Tongue

I note in the news, recently, they are looking at legalizing cat hunting in Wisconsin. According to what I’ve read, feral cats are responsible for the deaths of between 47 million to 139 million songbirds every year – and that’s just in Wisconsin!

I should note that it is legal to hunt cats in some other states.

What do you all think? Is cat hunting a sport? Grin

If it is as challenging as herding cats, I would say it’s definitely a sport! Cheesy

I don't think it's very sporting. Although it's not a bad idea. Tongue

I've seen lots of cats that I could very easily pick off with my .22. Not nearly as hard as deer hunting. Cool

2ndT - If you want to know the truth - I would rank that right up there with 'Bull Riding'. Both in skill and the amount of brains it would take realize it may not be something the average guy wants to do...
