Umm...guys, the question originally asked was if we could have a car forum. Could somebody (preferrably with some say-so) answer the question?

Yo, It appears you should probably make a direct I.M. request to Admin. (Isn't it amazing the things that pop-up on the most innocent of threads??) What kind of car(s) do you have? Are you a racer or classic enthusiast? JN

I have examined myself and my motives more carefully. You have my sincerest appologies. I am a slow typist, but many times my fingers are faster than my brain.
Tibby: That is ok. I hae the same problem, too. But I have an excuse, because I am 30 years your junior, after all.

Now why did Chevrolet stop making the Chevette? Question... and answer. Ok, serously, they stopped making the Chevette because to many Drunk drivers were getting off: Judge: You where DWI with a BAL of .12, and you plead not guilt? Why is that? DUI guy: I was in a Chevette. Judge: *slam* Not guilty.

Nope - never had a Chevette. But in the late 70's for several years in Alaska I drove a Pinto. What a GREAT car! Anytime I got stuck in the snow, I could put it in first gear, get out and push myself, then when I was un-stuck run up and jump back in! (The heater worked well, also.) Hey, how about them Gremlins? PS: Now that my post count says "1111" I think I'll quit posting for a while and gloat. It reminds me of the time I turned over 77,777 in my Pinto just as I pulled into my driveway - it looked so cool on the odometer I didn't drive the car again for a week.

We had a little Mazda hatchback for awhile. That was quite a car. One day it just decided to not work anymore, and that was it. Sort of like a one-time disposable car. We gave it to the local high school, and I think they eventually got it running, although I wouldn't be surprised if they had to install a go-kart engine. Currently we have a Ford '90 Ford Econoline van, a 198- Ford Crown Victoria Station Wagon, a '94 Ford Explorer, AND the most pathetic example of the automobile industry, a 199- Dodge Caravan. We call it our ghetto mobile. It was originally dark purple but now it ranges from dark to light purple in sort of a wave pattern. We had a new engine installed and the thing is quite a beast now . . . at least it sounds like it. It has quite a muscle-car roar. It's sort of a soccer mom car turned bad.

I drove a Dodge minivan for about 4 years - it was the first mini ever marketed - it was the cargo model - I put an old lounge chair in the back to make it a 3-seater! "Muscle Cars!" My parent's were 'Dodge' folks. The year I graduated highschool (1973) they had a Polara stationwagon; that sucker had a 440 magnum with dual exhaust and a Holley 4-barrel. It would out-run any stock Mustang on the street for the quarter mile or further! I'm a Toyota person now - I've got a Tundra, my wife has a Camry and my daughter a Tacoma. Our 'unscheduled' maintenance bills are "zero". Zero is a nice round number!

We have some friends who have an old (probably before '93) Pontiac stationwagon. It was originally a 350 but the previous owner had bored it to a 400. It was powerful. Off the light you could throw yourself back in the seat, although it wouldn't spin the tires. Speaking of which, our Caravan can half-spin the tires if you stomp on it, and it's capable of 80 mph with only some serious shaking and rattling. And also, those same friends had the Chevy counterpart of their Pontiac. It only had one gear so they sold it to a junkyard for $30.
