DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THE GIFT KNOWN AS "WORD OF KNOWLEDGE"? WHERE CAN I FIND BIBLICAL INFORMATION ON THE SUBJECT? OR JUST SHARE YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT.

It is one of the many gifts of the Holy Spirit. Some people define it as follows:

"A word of knowledge is a definite conviction, impression, or knowing that comes to you in a similitude (a mental picture), a dream, through a vision, or by a Scripture that is quickened to you. It is supernatural insight or understanding of circumstances, situations, problems, or a body of facts by revelation; that is, without assistance by any human resource but solely by divine aid.

Furthermore, the gift of the word of knowledge is the transcendental revelation of the divine will and plan of God. It involves moral wisdom for right living and relationships, requires objective understanding concerning divine things in human duties, and refers to knowledge of God or of the things that belong to God, as related in the Gospel.

The gifts of the word of wisdom and the word of knowledge function together; knowledge is raw material and wisdom builds on it. "


We have examples of this in the Bible:

Joshua knowing about Achan's sin.
(Joshua 7:10-11)

Elisha knowing that Gehazi lied to Naaman.
(II Kings 5:20-27)

I personally think it goes beyond this and that each person that is saved receives this gift to a certain degree. A good place to start on this is in 1 Co 1: 18 - 31.

Word of Knowledge: - Page 1

1 Corinthians 12:8 NASB  For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit;

Brother, here the Scripture is talking about GIFTS of the Holy Spirit of GOD. There are two gifts mentioned in this Scripture, and it is critical to note how they are given:  1) the word of wisdom through the Spirit; 2) the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit. As we grow in the strength of the LORD, the Holy Spirit of God helps us in the study of God's Word and reveals the truth of God's Word as we study. This is a critical and wonderful truth. Many of the greatest truths of the Holy Bible are spiritually discerned with the help of the Holy Spirit of God. So, a lost person is not going to understand many of the precious truths of the Holy Bible. For a Christian, much depends on the attitude and diligence of the Christian to work hard and study. 2 Timothy 2:15 NASB  Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.

The word of wisdom through the Spirit is simply known as intelligence and reason, then the practical ability to use that intelligence in the study of God's Word. 1 Corinthians 2:7 NASB  but we speak God's wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our glory;

The word of knowledge according to the same Spirit is simply known as insight or illumination given by the Holy Spirit of God in the Study of the Holy Bible. This is a wonderful truth that the Holy Spirit of God reveals the greatest truths of the Holy Bible to those with a willing heart and diligence in effort to search for the truth in study of the Holy Bible. This is the wisdom of the Apostles and Prophets that is revealed by the Holy Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 13:2 NASB  If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.

Please note that both of these gifts proceed from the Holy Spirit of God, and they are many times used to teach, exhort, and comfort others. This topic could be a beautiful and lengthy study of the Word of God. On the part of the believer, much depends on the depth of faith, the diligence to work hard and study, the willingness to yield to the will of God, and an open heart that is hungry for the riches of God's Word. Genesis 41:38 NASB  Then Pharaoh said to his servants, "Can we find a man like this, in whom is a divine spirit?"

(My Note: We must know that there is a divine Spirit within us, and that divine Spirit is willing to teach us and walk with us. That divine Spirit is the Holy Spirit of God who lives in our hearts.)

Exodus 31:3 NASB  "I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship,

1 Kings 3:5-12 NASB  In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream at night; and God said, "Ask what you wish me to give you." Then Solomon said, "You have shown great lovingkindness to Your servant David my father, according as he walked before You in truth and righteousness and uprightness of heart toward You; and You have reserved for him this great lovingkindness, that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. Some general things to know about the gifts of the Spirit.

ALL of the nine gifts, when they are in operation either singly or in multiple, will exalt the name of Jesus. I say in multiple because the gift of tongues needs the gift interpretation for edification.

Notice the gift you are inquiring about - it is the gift of the WORD of knowledge. Is it NOT the gift OF knowledge!!!!!

Kenneth Hagin provides the best definition of this gift that I know of to-date:

the supernatural revelation by the Holy Ghost of certain facts in the mind of God.

So, a word of knowledge is a piece of the entire knowledge of God, that He wants us to know at a given point in time.

Note that this knowledge is supernatural and NOT natural. So it is NOT knowledge gained by a person intellectually, and consequentially NOT biblical knowledge gained by study of the Word of God!!!

It is also not knowledge given or received bbecause of a closer walk with God!! That will surprise some, but I believe an example of the word of knowledge is the donkey saving Balaam from having his head removed. Did not Balaam gain that word of knowledge supernaturally? Of course he did. And it came from a donkey!!!

A New Testament example would be when the Lord told Ananias to go to Paul at a certain place and a certain street, and what to do when he got there. Now there's no way Ananias knew who was where and all that. That knowledge had to be revealed to him.

Another example is the tragedy of Ananias and Sapphira.

So I would conclude that the gift of the word of knowledge, and in fact all the gifts of the Spirit, occur as the Spirit wills it, not as we will it. In other words, the gifts do not operate as we will them to. We can't turn them on or off any time we want to. No, they will happen if and when the Spirit says they happen!!

One last thing to take note of: the gifts operate in various ways and methods. It can be a strong inward in a person's heart. It can come from an angel. I can come from a vision, dream, etc. The point being that the gift occurs as God wills and, and HOW God wills it. If you're looking to be used of God in this area, DO NOT TRY AND FORCE IT!!!! In fact, you CAN'T force it. If one says they are operating in this gift, and it has been forced, then it isn't this gift at all! It is a fraud.

Now to reply to your post, there was a man who lived his last years just 40 miles up the road from me. Who was a wonderful example to all in the spreading of the Gospel. he was an upright man in his love for the Lord and to the service he was called to do to build His kingdom. A renowned pastor and evangelist. He ministered for over fifty-five years in more than 100 countries, including Soviet Siberia, Russia, Tibet, Philippines and China. He established Feed the Hungry, and LeSEA Broadcasting is still active today. I have a lot of respect for the way this man handled his ministry and stewardship of it. He would start a church, get it running in the country he was ministering in, never setting up a bank account in his name. But in the name of the church, getting the offices filled to run it and move on to the next call the Lord had him and start another. He put his faith in the Lord that he would provide, he never had much to go on, but he went. He was led by the Spirit, and he gave all the glory to the Lord for His giving him the opportunity to serve Him. How many today operate like that? I know they are out there, and thats encouraging know that.
He wrote many books as well, and one that I read was "The Gifts and Minitries of the Holy Spirit", in here I'll share a piece of what was there in refence to your question. He says it is a revelation gift. The word knowledge is related to fact. A word of knowledge is the revealing of a fact in existance which can only be supernaturally revealed. it cannot be seen or heard or known naturally. The word of knowledge is a revelation of a fact that exists; the word of wisdom is a revelation of the future.  A word of knowledge in the scriptures: 1 Kings19:14-18, 2 Kings 5:20-27, 2 Kings 6:12, 1 Samuel 10:22, John 4, Acts 10:19, John1:45-50.
He says that normally it would have to do with the meeting of an emergency. God would not reveal such a thing if there was no real purpose for doing so.
I've experienced this from a lady at church once who came to me and my wife with a word of knowledge from the Lord. And it came to pass in about 5 days. It would have done some damage to my marriage if not God had warned me. It came in part, not a complete detail but enough that when it happened we knew what it was. This woman did not even know us, she was up in the worship singers during worship and she said the Lord spoke to her, in faith she followed through and it came to pass. Praise Jesus, he looks out for us.
The book is outstanding, it is published by {Whitaker House} Oh, the authors name is Lester Sumrall.
