Hello, my name is Kit, or at least that is what people call me, part of my middle name Kittiara. I came upon this forum this evening, when searching the Internet and looking for some answers. It seems a very welcoming and friendly place.
You may find some questions of mine on this board. Some may seem very silly, but they are genuine questions. I am going through a rather confusing time at the moment.
A bit about myself - I am 30 years of age, currently living in the United Kingdom. (I hope that that is okay, I think most people here are from the USA?). I have lived in the Netherlands for most of my life, hence my English is far from perfect.
I am a writer (or try to be), which may explain my overly active imagination. I love reading, nature, animals (especially felines, I have two felines around my place and another one that wanders in regularly, plus some occasional visitors).
I guess that is it, for now. I would not wish to bore you!
Besides, it is past 3 am here currently. I guess I should really go to bed sometime soon!

Your kind welcome is very much appreciated. Past 4 am and I am still awake and on this forum, reading through threads and have posted several questions that I hope won't offend anyone!
It seems such a lovely place here.

Hi Kit------------------welcome to CU. Have you ever been to the USA? Imperfect English? It looks pretty perfect to me. Much better than some whose native tongue is English, including mine.

Awwww thank you Cris *smiles*
Your English looks fine to me!
Nopes, I haven't been to the USA as yet. I am hoping to go in July, if I feel better, to a writing convention. I sure do look forward to it and I should be seeing part of the USA as a few friends of mine and I are meeting up first, then going up to Canada to meet another couple of friends, and then all going to the convention. Of course, the USA is huge. Certainly compared to the UK and even more so compared to Holland
I hope to see some mountains, always wanted to see those!

WELCOME KIT!
I loved your introduction and see pretty quickly that you are a writer. I look forward to reading your posts, and I sincerely hope that you enjoy Christians Unite.
Maybe you can teach me English while you are here.
Love In Christ,
Tom

How did your first session go today? Are you feeling any better?
Hope you will be feeling up to taking your trip come July. It sounds so exciting. How long were you planning to visit each country? Your friends------------do they live in the U.S.? Or, maybe you meant you were meeting up with them in the UK before coming to the U.S.
Apparently, there are no mountains in the U.K. or Holland. I didn't know that. You'll definitely find them here in the U.S. They're just REAL BIG HILLS, actually.
Once you're in the mountains, you don't realize it, unless, of course, you're used to perfectly flat land. I've never been to the U.K. or Holland. Maybe, someday, though.
Tell me something---------please excuse the question if it sounds stupid. I'm assuming you're Dutch. You said you lived most of your life in Holland. Here's the question--------are the Dutch German? They are a Germanic people, aren't they?
The Scots, Irish and English are Celtic, correct? The people of Poland, Czechloslovakia, Romania, etc. are a Slavic people, correct.

Hello Kit,
We're glad to have you aboard with us here at Christiansunite. I've read some of your questions, and I don't find them silly at all. Seeing as you are honestly searching for answers, we'd all be glad to do our best to answer them. My name is Joshua, and we're glad to have you. I hope this will be your little niche on the internet, where you can come and fellowship with Christians who Love the Lord. I must be off, but God Bless you
In Christ
Joshua
Hebrews 11:6

First of all, thank you Joshua, for your kind welcome
And thank you for saying that my questions aren't silly...I was worried that at least one of them was as nobody has posted a reply. I understand it is perhaps a very difficult question, though.
And hi again Cris
To answer your questions - the first session went okay. The mental health nurse thinks I have post traumatic stress disorder and anxiety. I was a bit disappointed however as I would have liked to have some real guidance in how to get better, but all I received was a recommendation for medication which after looking it up seemed to be quite risky, and another appointment in three weeks to see how I cam getting on. I shouldn't complain, it is just that I am rather clueless in what to do to get better.
Aye, my friends live in the USA. First meeting up there, in Ohio, then up to Canada, then back to the USA. Not too sure yet how long I will stay but I hope for about 2 weeks altogether. I am very much looking forward to the convention, as well. The people that went last time had such a lovely time!
There are mountains in the UK, but I live nowhere near them. There are the Scottish highlands, for one. And the Snowies in Wales. Around here there are a lot of hills, which is nice. I live in a valley and the scenery is beautiful. In Holland, nopes, no mountains. If I recall correctly there is one tiny hill and that has become a tourist attraction
Aye, I am Dutch. And as to your question, I am not too sure. I think that the Dutch people and those of Belgium used to be from the same kind of background and the Germans from another background. As for the UK, I am not very sure either. I know that part of the UK used to be Celtic. I think that that was more the northern part of the UK. And there were the Picts in Scotland. The British are kind of a mixture as it is because of the Sacson (I hope I spelled that right) invasions, the Romans who occupied Britiain for a fair while, and other people who moved here in the first centuries A.D. And I think that you are correct as to the Slavic people but again, not sure. I know that there were so many different tribes- for a lack of a better word, that it is hard to be sure. So nopes, not a stupid question at all as I am not sure either
Oh, did I say hi to you yet Tom? Hiya! *waves* and thanks for the compliment. Your English looks fine to me =)

Hi Kit,
Sorry you were a bit disappointed with your first session. Just what you needed!!
Mainstream medicine is very quick to prescribe drugs for everything. Sometimes though, they are in order. I have no idea what they prescribed for you and it isn't any of my business. Didn't they recommend any type talk therapy? It seems like this is something you would welcome. Maybe next time you can mention you aren't real fond of drugs, and then ask if there's something else they can recommend.
A tiny hill in Holland thats become a tourist attraction!! That's funny.
I think the spelling of the word you questioned is spelled Saxon and not Sacson. Anyway, that's how we spell it.
I guess I thought the Dutch were a germanic people because the language is a germanic language, duh!! I do remember now about the English being (from way back) a mixture. I would like to do a little more investigation on the origin of the different nationalities. I learned sometime ago that the biblical Galatians were the Celtic people. That bit of info interested me. Maybe, one of these days I'll look into it.
Your place of residence sounds lovely. I'll be over in 5 minutes.
I don't know where you are in the UK and what's available healthcare wise. Have you ever heard of homeopathy? I thought it was pretty big in your part of the world. I could be wrong, though. Some people think it's quackery and against Christianity. I know it's not quackery and there's a book available for Christian's, "A Christian's Guide to Homeopathy" by Alan Crook. Alan Crook is (at least he was in 1996) a preacher of the local Methodist Church and pratices homeopathy part time in Sussex. He translates homeopathic books from German into English. He trained in Homeopathy at the College of Homeopathy, London, and received his license in 1984. Don't ask me to explain homeopathy to you because it's complicated. All I can tell you is that they believe like cures like (the law of similars) as opposed to allopathic (mainstream medicine) which prescribes the opposite. Personally, I feel homeopathy is God's medicine--------it's gentle and has no side effects.
Grace and peace,
cris
