That's a very good way to put how sometimes Christians may try to have good intentions but never take actions to make it happen.
This reminds me of why faith is useless without works. For instance, if a brother is hungry...telling him that "man does not live on bread alone but by the word of God" is useless if you dont first satisfy his need.
James 2:14-20
What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.
You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that–and shudder.
You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?
We can often find ourselves having faith without deeds, and we usually never notice. Whenever we encounter a person who needs help, we are quick to suggest a solution, voice wisdom, or give sound advice, but do we ever try to physically help the person? We are quick to admonish or correct a person, but do we ever help the person become better? It is easier to make yourself look good and holy by displaying your faith but in the end, it is really useless. We may look like we're displaying love but we really are not.
A better way to do things is to first help the person with the deed...and then help the person with the faith.
