Hi   I am new and I recently joined a gym to start my new year resollution . I have one problem , when I did the tour they have open showers . I feel a little awkward showering in front of anyone besides my husband . I would take a shower when I get home but the health spa is 35 minutes away . Has any other woman feel this way or is it just me

Sorry, I saw your handle, and the title, and thot you were asking about your boys having to shower perhaps in a p.e. class at a public school.

Maybe this is related, I dunno.  But when I was their age, it was common in public school, or at bible camp, etc., to hear epithets of "homo" tossed around at each other.  Now that you can get sued, I guess, for such "harrassment", no matter how loosely intended, and there's a sort of forced silence descended now, I'm wondering if showering in public like that is a good idea at all.  I mean, if you can't "say" anything...?

Maybe you should just drive stinky 'til you get home.  (don't stop at the grocery store-- Embarrassed).

    Undecided

just my two cents--from a man person... Lips Sealed

Yeah, showering at the gym is ok if you get in there early enough so that the showers aren't crowded.  There's really nothing to worry about.  Some women shower in their bathing suits and then go get changed in the changing rooms.  If you're fast it shouldn't be a big deal.

If no one is in the shower, then just hurry up and do it before anyone else can see you.  If there happens to be other people there, just think about something else while you're undressed or use a towel to cover what you can.

I would talk to the management/owners.  Perhaps it never occurred to them and you're obviously not alone.  I swim laps at the local high school 3x a week and the women shower with their suits on and then wait in line to change in the toilet stalls for privacy.

I often shower at my local swimming pool (frank=frankie!) and just keep my swimsuit on. No need to be embarassed. I find thinking about the bible helps keep my mind off the whole thing anyway. Don't let this stop you going to the gym!!!

I would just drive home stinky, or do a quick armpit cleaning at the sink (if available). Spray a little febreeze on the clothes if you have to stop somewhere on the way home. Grin
