Have you thought about what you will do with eternity?

Answer this.
If someones idea of heaven is o be with You but your idea of heaven is not to be with them, is a duplicate you made?
probably- but what if the other persons idea of heaven is not to be deceived by a false you.  What if they want the real you?  But you still dont want them?  They're probably just lead to believe that the false you was the real one.  Doesnt it matter what someone really wants- even if they can never know their wish has been fulfilled?

What are you going to do with eternity? Every so often, you'll have to get your memory erased.  Here's an alternaive... Wish away your fear of death and then.  Well... Die.
What's wrong with oblivion.  granted I dont want to experience it right away- (Is that an Oxymoron? ) but I think I could happily retire there.

So if you had your choice what would it be?  eternal life or an afterlife for a few thousand years then oblivion?

Sammy,
I just want to love my enemies. I fall short and they hate me for it. Once in awhile I succeed and they still hate me for it. So I waste my life away on hiding, and forums and such. But Jesus.  Yes! Jesus!! This the true God and eternal life. No idols. Hallelujah Cheesy Eternal Life, Yes!

Greetings Sammy,
I must say, you have some interesting opinions. I don’t agree with any of them, but I think you and I could have a few laughs together, if we were neighbors. Cool

QUOTE SAMMY:
Quote
If someones idea of heaven is o be with You but your idea of heaven is not to be with them, is a duplicate you made?

Cloning in eternity? Mmmmmmm! No! all the works have been finished from the beginning. (Hebrews 4:3). Do you believe in the Bible, Sammy? Have you ever considered that whoever created such a vast universe would be interesting enough for you and me to be lost in wonder for much more than just a few thousand years?

QUOTE SAMMY
Quote
what if the other persons idea of heaven is not to be deceived by a false you.  What if they want the real you?  But you still dont want them?  They're probably just lead to believe that the false you was the real one.  Doesnt it matter what someone really wants- even if they can never know their wish has been fulfilled?

Nothing that is of the lie will enter into the Kingdom of God (Ephesians 5:4-5). I won’t desire to lie, neither will anyone there desire what is not true (1John 2:21-27). Things are different there, Sammy, nothing that is there has even entered into your mind (1Corinthians 2:9). I imagine you have been disappointed a lot in your life. We all have, but we can trust He who is true (1John 5:20).

QUOTE SAMMY
Quote
What are you going to do with eternity?

Well, for starters, I am going to begin with a great banquet (Revelation 19:9). I am going to really enjoy a nice long meal and the fellowship that goes along with it. Jesus will be there, and I’ll get to know Him a little better. I may even come around to where you are sitting and say hello. We’ll talk about this discussion forum and how many stupid things we’ve both said etc. I imagine we’ll enjoy a laugh of two together. Next up will be some responsibility concerning the cities of God (Luke 19:17-19). Afterwards I am just trusting in the Lord that it will be wonderful. I trust Him, because I have found Him worthy (Revelation 4:11; 5:12). He would never tell a lie (Hebrews 6:18).

Tell me, what are you going to do for eternity? I see you have only a few thousand years mapped our before retirement. I think that is one of those things over which you and I will have a good laugh.

QUOTE SAMMY
Quote
Every so often, you'll have to get your memory erased.

Naaaaahhhh! I don’t think anyone will be on drugs in the Kingdom, my friend. We won’t need them there. Our minds will have as much stimulation as we desire, without seeking that artificial upper or downer. I believe we can trust Him to make it so.

QUOTE SAMMY
Quote
Here's an alternaive…

Ooooooooohhhhhh! Great! I love alternatives. I would be so bored in a place with only a single mind-set. Did you ever play chess, Sammy? It is so easy to defeat a person who has no alternatives in chess. He always opens the same way, moves with the same combinations, willing to trade the same pieces etc. It gets boring after awhile to be around a person without imagination. We’re so fortunate that our God has imagination. Look at His wonderful imaginative creation – the detail, the variety, the humor, the care, the wonder. It is able to keep many scientific fields busy for thousands of years, artists for perhaps even longer – never experiencing or painting the same sunset. Ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhh! I can hardly wait to enjoy all those alternatives. Grin

QUOTE SAMMY
Quote
Wish away your fear

No need to do that, Sammy. There are only three things we are able to take with us when we leave our present existence – faith, hope and love! All the rest is imperfect and will be replaced with the REAL THING! The Word of God says that there ain’t no fear in LOVE (1John 4:18). Isn’t that great? NO FEAR! I am reminded of good old Arnold in Kindergarten Cop!
NO FEEEAH!
[/glow]

QUOTE SAMMY
Quote
Wish away your fear of death and then.  Well... Die.

Oh! Sammy… take those dark glasses off your eyes man! Death is not cool in the Kingdom, dude! No! No! No! Death dies in the Kingdom! Haven’t you read the Scripture that says Death is an enemy that gets destroyed and is swallowed up in life (1Corinthians 15:26, 54). Read your Bible, man. That’s the coolest thing you can do, this side of ETERNITY! ======= BUT for your own good take away those DARK GLASSES so you can see clearly.

QUOTE SAMMY
Quote
What's wrong with oblivion.

WHOOOOAH! Dude, you’ve been reading the wrong text books. What’s wrong with oblivion? Don’t you know? Blackness of darkness, no thoughts, no color TV (just making sure you’re reading this), no taste, no memory --- DEAD. Man, that’s the UNcoolest thing that can happen in life. OBLIVION? Get a good translation of the Bible. Personally, I like the KJV, but you better get a good modern translation. Even the worst one will be able to tell you that OBLIVION is not cool. It is THE END. You won’t even be able to read the credits. It will be all over. GONE!

Sammy Eternity is life, not death. Read the Bible.

QUOTE SAMMY
Quote
granted I dont want to experience it right away-

DITTO, Dude! DITTO!
Keep that thought. Now we are getting somewhere. Don’t let that smoking flax go out. LIFE – cling to it, man. Jesus is the WAY ---- the TRUTH -------- and the LIFE! Cling to Jesus. Don’t let Him go. He’ll give you a wonderful blessing if you just fix you eyes upon Him. Let LIFE  reign in your mortal body!

QUOTE SAMMY
Quote
but I think I could happily retire there

WHAT? Oblivion? HAPPILY RETIRE? What are you smoke’n? There is no happiness in OBLIVION! No way, man! Who have you been talking to? Who blew that smoke at you? It’s foggen up your brain --- more precisely, your HEART. There is no feeling or thought or anything else in the grave. It is not a wishful place. You can’t even have a dream there. Why do you think that you could “HAPPILY RETIRE” there?

QUOTE SAMMY
Quote
So if you had your choice what would it be?  eternal life or an afterlife for a few thousand years then oblivion?

Do you really call that a choice? It’s a no brainer, Sammy. Why would I want to end eternity. I have tasted life here in this life. Why would I want to end this. On my worst day, I would choose life. I trust Him to make it good. He is able! He is willing! He is merciful! He loves you and me! And He is worthy of our trust.

Throw away thoseDARK GOGGLES
FIX YOUR EYES UPON JESUS

and keep on keep’n on!

God bless,

We as believers are granted life eternal.  Remember:

Quote
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.  John 14:6

Yes.  We do have an eternity with Christ.  Yes, that does mean that we will never die.  But death is not annihilation, but separation from God.  Life is not existence but fellowship with God.  What we have is not about us, but about God.  We have eternal life!  Unseparated, unending fellowship with God.  Who ever else I may be reunited with, or my willingness thereto are completely inconsequential.  I'll have God.  I'll need no more.

Sammy, Sammy what are we goin to do with you???
Oblivion is not my bag!  I am lookin forward to spending eternity with my Lord and Savior.  In the home He has gone to get ready for me and Praise God He's comin back to get me!
Spending days with Him, who is so radiant that we need no sun or moon.... Finding out all the answers to all the questions we have been throwing around down here.... and having them all answered completely.....
I would gladly spend eternity as a janitor in heaven if I could be close to Jesus!!!  It will take an eternity to praise Him and thank Him for doing what He has done for us all!!! Taken our sin and our hate, and got rid of it with His death on the cross.... saving us all from hell, who believe in Him!!
          I CAN'T WAIT!!!! OBLIVION?Huh   I DON'T THINK SO!! ETERNITY!!YES!!!          JOY

       Sammy;
Agian you are worng, its not what you will do with eternity? But where we will spend eternity. Either with GOD in Heaven, or with Satan and his Demons in hell. the choice is yours.

Matthew 10:28
And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather be afraid of Him who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Gehenna).

2 Peter 2:4
For God did not [even] spare angels that sinned, but cast them into hell, delivering them to be kept there in pits of gloom till the judgment and their doom.

2 Peter 2:4
For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

I'm going to see Jesus and fall before him and worship.  then I'm going to stand up and see Jesus and see something about him I did not see the first time and wow what a wonderful thing I just learned about Jesus and at that moment I will fall down and worship him for the new thing I just learned about Him and then I will stand up and see Jesus and see something about him that is so wonderful that I am awe struck and I will fall down and worship Jesus for the wonderful thing that I just learned about my Lord and Savior then I will stand up and I will see Jesus and then I will notice something completely amazing that I did not see before and I will fall down and worship Him for the wonderfull thing that I just learned about him that just left me breathless and then I will arise from worship and I will see Jesus and at that moment of Seeing Jesus again I will look and there will be something totally new that I had missed the first few times I looked upon the one who died for me and I will fall down and worship him and when I finish worshipping him for this wonderfull awesome thing that I just learned about the one who paid the penalty of my sins I will fall down and worship him and If this occurs again and again then who cares about doing anything else, I will be forever in the wonderfull pressence of the King of all Kings who felt that I was worth dying for and I will worship Him Forever if that is what it takes.

I want to see Jesus and nothing else will ever matter again for at that moment he will stop all of time and I will be in worship of Him forever and unless that stirs your heart you need to come to Jesus and be Saved.  but if you find that boring you won't be there, more then likely.

I had a dream of when I pass from this physical life to the next and Jesus meets me on the bridge of crossing and touches my left hand as I come to him and a rush of awesome power floods through me and completely covers me for every angle and I'm transformed forever and all the unclean things about me are forever gone.  I want to see Jesus.

Sammy if you would come to Jesus you too can be looking forward to seeing Jesus.

Actually man.  I'm not suicidal.  But if you're mature you have to come to the realisation that you're going to die some day.  after that comes oblivion.  I am not under some illusion that oblivion means some kind of party.  It means an end to thought.  It's not bad and it's not good.

Sammy,
I know I will die. I will go to the grave where there is no feelings or thoughts. But there is resurrection. Jesus proved that.
What about the promise of Life? Do you believe in resurrection?
Daniel 12
2   And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
3   And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
John 11
25   Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26   And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

You gotta love Him,

Re: asaph.  Yes I believe.  The thing is : There is more to life. Or the afterlife than Fun and Games.  It's important that I accomplish something.  Spending eternity playing games and having Fun, really doesnt seeom too appealing to me.

Anyone can see the value of an extremely long life.  Thousands, perhaps Millions of years having fun.  But what is the value of an eternity without making a difference?
Why is it such a terrible idea that at some point in the far future, if you or I wish to, We may truely die.

Do I seem Fixated on this? perhaps. Still what do you think?

You're not alone Sammy,
Job talked of never being born. This kind of talk is a result of suffering and seeing no purpose in it. In Eternity your perspective will change. Life as a result of resurrection holds a totally different view than what you are presently seeing. I wouldn't waste any more time thinking about death. Have you tasted and seen that the Lord is good? Are you desiring the pure milk of the word? Do not focus on the hatred and hypocracy that it rampant in christianity, but fix your eyes on Jesus the author and perfector of your faith.

1 Peter 3
8   Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
9   Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
10   For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11   Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
12   For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

I do not believe eternity will be just fun and games. There will be much joy and purpose. There will be work to do also. Hold faith and a good conscience. Do not shipwreck your faith on the rocks of your own understanding.

1 Cor 2
9   But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10   But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

Heaven is about the deep things of God and you can believe that God is fathomless. How deep can you go with God? Deeper than one can imagine. There is an eternity of depth and heighth and length and breadth in the person of the Godhead. Consider just His love alone! There is no end to the amount of love He has for us.

Eternity my friend is timeless, full of life, joyful, and peaceful. Jesus is eternity. He never ends.

Eternity begins now!

Have a nice eternity,

asaph

Do our thoughts change reality? If I view heaven as black and another views it as white but it is really blue, what now? Are there now a million versions of 'heaven'?

Sammy thinks that after death, there is only oblivion. I wonder--what is his authority for believing THAT? Does he believe that he has an authority on the afterlife that is greater than the authority of Christ, who raises the dead?
Sammy should change his question. Rather than ask, "who wants to live forever," he should ask, "who wants to live in the uttermost depths of iniquity forever?" because without Christ, he will enter into an eternity where there is no longer any common grace from God to restrain the heart of man which is "deceitful above all things and desperately wicked."
If Sammy thinks that there is some goodness in him which Hitler or Stalin did not have, he needs to realize that God, in his common grace has merely restrained him from the level of evil to which He has allowed the most evil of men to descend. But once he is dead without Christ, all help of any restaint is gone, and it is gone forever. Sammy, turn from sin to Christ, or else enter into an eternity where there is no hope of escape from wickedness, the depths of which you have not dared to think of before. The weight of your nature without God's goodness restaining you will soon have you living next to Hitler, Stalin, and Jeffery Dahmer. And you won't be able to leave the neightborhood.
