Nah, I taste leans more toward music that require talent...
lol
I do like Carman, because he seems to be the only one who understand what “Christian” music is about. Outreaches, free shows, etc. Now as for the rest of them, the only different between them and the secular artists is that when theses guys say “god” they don’t have to bleep it out. They just don’t get it. Christian music isn’t suppose to look like secular music. Carman gets it. Praise God for Carman!

Tibby, doesn't Carman have secular sounding rhythms and beats in his music? And doesn't he rap and have break dancers in his shows? Also, I saw the movie he did called Champion. There's a few words of profanity that were not bleeped out.
Personally, I like Carman's old stuff from the 70's. I like some of the worship songs, but other than that I don't like his new stuff...
Brother Love, I love Phil Driscoll's instrumental recordings. It makes me think of the trumpet that will sound when we are caught up to meet Jesus in the air...

*sigh* Let me start over. The point I was trying to make (but must not have) is that Carman behaves like a Christian artist should. He hold free concerts so everyone can come. He has a page dictated to prayer requests on his main website. He isn’t like other “Christian” artists.
As for cursing in Champion… did you even see Champion? I wasn’t aware “whoop ass” was profane. Maybe a little crude, but hardly what I would define as profanity. Honestly, aren’t we being just a little to prudish here?
Besides, I think Jaci Velasquez waltzing about in lingerie in a B movie about a guy who dates 3 women at once is a little more on the “profane” side.
But, back to the topic at hand, Carman takes his Christianity to the office, showing his faith in every aspect. Most of the rest of the “Christian” artists are just secular artists with a few Christian undertones for posterity.
I don't like his music, either. But I'm not talking about the music. For me, the issue has always been how the Christian music Industry, and the Christian Church in general, is all Letting the world effect them. What is wrong with this picture? We should be the ones effecting the world.

Tibby, I think the Christian music industry does tend to stir up the love of the world but they offer good clean entertainment.
Sometimes it is worshipful but a lot of it is just entertainment,
and as long as I'm not excessive in entertaining myself, God will be pleased with me. I just have to eat the meat and spit out the bones...
Yes, I did see Champion; I thought it was lousy, my aunt and husband did too. No, I did not see Jaci V. waltzing. Personally I haven't liked Jaci since her debut CD. As for what
the Christian singers & musicians do to influence the world for
Christ, there are a lot of them that do wonderful things free of
charge.
May God help us all as we learn to discern good and evil (Hebrews 5:14)
Your sister in Christ,

I'm sorry, I just think, if you are going to label yourself "Christian" then "good, clean entertainment" isn't enough. I can find you some "good Clean" entertainment without the Christian Label. There is a little movie I like to call "Pirates of the Caribbean.” It is good, it is clean, and you know what? It is fun! And look, no Christian labels!!!!!!!!!!!
There is nothing wrong with good clean fun, and there is nothing wrong with a Christian who wants to be a Music star. But if you want to call your self a “Christian” you are going to have to do a lot more then that not curse, and all your self a Christian. If that is all you are going to do, go get yourself a secular record company, and start being a light among the darkness. POD did a fine job of that.
Do I think Christian music should be limited to 1500's Hymns? No., but they could take a hint from the 1500's composers!

Most of these hymns were written by theologians, not musicians.

Either one without the other is lacking something...but both together are a powerful combination!
A great deal of the ancient hymns were set to music by renowned composers such as Bach and Handel. Theology
and
good music...now, that'll raise the sanctuary roof!
