Coming to America


Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice??? Think about it . . .


All I have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break. Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that.

This is an editorial written by an American citizen, published in a Tampa newspaper. He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!


IMMIGRANTS,  NOT AMERICANS, MUST ADAPT.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some individual or their culture.
Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11,
we have experienced a surge in patriotism
by the majority of Americans.
However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled
when the "politically correct" crowd began complaining about
the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge
against anyone who is seeking a better life
by coming to America.
Our population is almost entirely made up
of descendants of immigrants.
However, there are a few things that those
who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of America being a multicultural community
has served only to dilute our sovereignty
and our national identity.
As Americans, we have our own culture,
our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.
This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women
who have sought freedom.


We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic,
Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.
Therefore, if you wish to become part
of our society, learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented.
It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools.
If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.

If Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam,
then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.
We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change,
and we really don't care how you did things where you came from.
This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle.
Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his opinion and we will allow you every opportunity to do so.
But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great American freedom, THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

I find it interesting that Americans say they value "freedom" so much, yet this entire article speaks of forcing people to assimilate to American culture, language, and values.

Need I remind you that, unless you're of Native heritage, your ancestors were, at one point, immigrants too.  I'd be willing to bet that one of the reasons they came to America was that they had freedom of religion, culture, and language.

I should also remind you that people immigrate to your country (and to mine) because they're fleeing incredibly harsh living conditions, conditions of war, and poverty.  are you saying that you'll turn them away, simply because they don't believe in God?
 
this line in particular, scares me:
"We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change,
and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle."
quite frankly, if you aren't accepting to new ideas and to change, your "American" culture won't last too long.  culture is not stable, it's dynamic and always adapting and changing.  to be so intolerant to change should be frightening to you.

Although my country isn't perfect, I thank God I live in a country (Canada) and a city (Toronto) that values multiculturalism and diversity.

If immigrants were forced to depart, I would never have been here. So I think that is a bit kneejerk, as we are a very patriotic family. We put up an American flag the minute we sensed we were headed for Iraq, which was before the war actually began. We believe that one language should be on all our packaging. We believe signs in every town including those in Fl should be in English. I believe in keeping sovereignty and that those who come to this country should learn the language and participate in the land of their choice, as was the practice in our family. But I'm offended by telling immigrants to go home. I believe that those who abuse our system and attempt to force us to conform can go the the country of their choice. But I'm pretty happy with my own presence here.

I think you misunderstand, as we are all immigrants. From the earliest colonists in the 1600s to far into the 1900s, the vast majority in America had something in common: recognition and honor of Almighty God, love of Jesus Christ. Most of my family are immigrants, but I don't know of any who tried to attack the core of America: Almighty God, love of Jesus Christ, and Biblical values, morals, and principles.

I think the point is this. Forget about telling us to remove God from public view, our buildings, our money, our pledge of allegiance, our way of life, and the core of our founding. I think that I know you well enough to say that you would agree. Those who are trying to do this are taking gross advantage of the freedoms we enjoy. As far as I'm concerned, those who wish to push Almighty God into a darkened closet either need to be quiet or move to a country that doesn't have Almighty God as the cornerstone for the society. Our freedoms were designed around and UNDER ALMIGHTY GOD.

There is a huge effort by a few to shut up and silence Christians and remove any hint of Almighty God from our public society. Well, that's not America. If it happens, America will cease to exist.

Yes, there is a definite attempt to hush Christians. That's the whole mass and inertia behind the Postmodern movement. There's a terrible lawlessness in our culture now because of that. As Christians, we certainly have our work cut out for us, because the light is growing dim and we're losing our constitutional liberties. I fear our nation is ripe for judgment. We send missionaries to Russia, and Russia sends missionaries to America.

You mean we must all turn to rock-n-roll? Should it be soft, hard, heavy, or easy?
 Most rockers are original inhabitants of America, having never inhabited any other place.
Of course there were those English rockers back in the sixties, but they were just trying to adopt the culture and society of the original inhabitants of America and were an imitation of the original inhabitants.
