I saw this posted on the HolyBridge.com forums and I wanted to see if we could get some discussion on it here. Here is the link to the full thread if anyone wants some background info:

So, I was talking with my bible study group yesterday about creation. And we came across this verse from Genesis 2:24

"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. "

It got me thinking, and I was a little bit dissapointed.

Will I see, recognize, and be married to my hubbie in heaven?

One interpretation is that we dont take our flesh into heaven, and so my husband will be like a stranger to me. Do you agree?

I don't like the thought of that. Moreover, I can't understand why the bible puts such important on Marriage, if it doesnt carry on into the afterlife.

So if it does carry-through, and my husband and I will be together in Heaven..

What about the Old Testament leaders who had 10, 20, even 30 wives? Will we see them trotting around heaven with a troop of wives following at their heals? That doesnt look quite right in my mind.

So whats the deal?

Jesus said;

34   The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
35  But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

When a Pharisee told Jesus a story of a woman who lost seven husbands, and then died herself, he asked who's wife would she be?

The answer was none, because in Heaven there is no law, because there is no sin.

Your spouse won't be a stranger, either; I can't say for sure that you'll know him/her for the person they represented on earth, but we are all the children that Jesus has been given, and there will be no strangers there!
