Our family adopted a little boy from India, I guess about 9 years ago, now.  Sham(now Shawn) was 6 when he came to America, he is 15 now.  In the beginning, he had quite a tough time with subjects that required English and grammar, but we worked with him as much as possible.  He still has a bit of trouble with reading comprehension, but he just got accepted to the automobile mechanics training program at the county vocational school.  We are glad he was able to fit into our family so easily.  There were some challenges, but overall, he's in a great place.

We went through Holt International for the adoption.

Nice story atheist. What a challenge to take an "older" child on alone, but from another country !  It sounds like you did a great job with him.

Atheist, if you don't mind, would you tell me about the process you went through and how much did it cost?  Your feedback is appreciated.

Our friends recently went through a long (and testing) adoption process...but it was worth it! They now have a lovely little girl named Emma from Liberia, they don't know her age but the pediatrician suggested between 5-6 years. She's proving to be a delight - and a handful, lol!

My parents know the details.  I will find out the exact numbers for you if I can.

Willowbirch, what adoption agency did your friend use?
