I am not familiar with the work of "Brock".  Thayer has long been recognized by many as the standard when it comes to Greek. English lexicons.  He does not agree with Brock, see pg. 555.---God bless, duval

21  Theology / Debate / Re: How was Paul Baptized ?? on: December 30, 2010, 08:58:49 PM
If you assume Spirit in Eph. 4:4 means baptism of the Spirit you assume too much.  A study of John chapters 13-16 will show Jesus was speaking only to His aposstles and He promosed to send to them the Comforter, the Spirit to guide them into all truth.  This the Spirit did.You say Eph.4 does not memtion water baptism.  TRUE.  But NEITHER does it say Holy Spirit baptism.

Dan you may talk on and on but I Jn.1 and 2 remains in your Bible.  Yet you have made wonderful progress in that you admit that you DO sin.  Now, from those same passages above you must learn there is something you must DO for their cleansing.

God bless you in your study,
duval

Shame on you Dan.  Anyone reading  Acts 2:39 can clearlly see there are no limitations, AND YOU WANT SCRIPTURE??
24  Theology / Debate / Re: How was Paul Baptized ?? on: December 30, 2010, 05:46:11 PM
Hi nChrist
I disagree witih your interpretation of the Spirit in the passages you submitted.  I DO however agree with your affirmation:"Not a single pserson has ever been saved by water baptism, works, or obedience to the law."

Hi Dan
Ethnos is not in Acts 2:39 because the word limits to a nation, a people etc.  The promise of Acts 2 knows no boundaries.  Very very simple Dan.

Hi Dan

You need to focus on my question which has been repeated numerous times without answer!

Hi Jerry:  In response to your post #68, Dec.29 2010
You asked: "what is the consequence of not being baptized (water)?"
My answer:  Hell.  Mark 16:15,16.

You asked:  "What do you define as Holy Spirit baptism, since you seem to differentiate that from being baptized with the Holy Spirit."
My answer:They are the same.  I regret if I somehow left the inference they were different.

God bless,
duval

Hi Dan - - - I only respond to what you currently write.  If any one is off the OP it has to be you.
Cornelius did receive the gift of the Holy Spirit BUT note it was "poured" out on them.  A difference? Yes!  And will you please tell us the purpose of the Holy Spirit at Cornelius house in Acts 10,11??

I never said the apostles only received the "gift of the Holy Spirit".  I DID say the apostles were the ONLIY ones to receive the "baptism of the Holy Spirit."  The "filling of the Holy Spirit" in Acts 2:4 was part of the "baptism of the Holy Spirit" on Pentecost which ONLY the apostles received.

John the Baptist said the "chaff" would be cast into the fire, Matt.3 and that Jesus Himself will do it.  Please read and study the close of Matt.25 for that.
God bless,
duval

29  Theology / Debate / Re: Why do we have to confess sins ?? on: December 28, 2010, 07:14:42 PM
Hi Dan
The beloved apostle John by inspiration of the Holy Spirit still says: "if we say we have no sin we deceive our selves and the truth is not in us."  The NT being true and God cannot lie (Tit.1:3) convicts you!

John also wrote: "if any man sin".  If as teach the Christian cannot sin, John, and God and the Holy Spirit thru John wasted tilme in so writing and I for one do not believe they waste time nor  do I believe They teach false doctrine!!  Please face the issue of this thread which you started.

God bless- - - -duval

If you refer to Daniel 9 the context makes cleare it refers to the Jew/Israel only.  Not so with Acts 2:39.
God is love,
duval
