Sissy...pardon my ignorance but I'm so new to computers. But...what is an RV?

Love..Tamara

Hi Tamara,
I'm sorry - I'll explain.  RV has nothing to do with computers.  It stands for recreational vehicle (RV).  There are many, many RV's on the market here in the states.  My husband & I have what is called a 5th wheel.  Ours is essentially a movable home that has a slide out which enlarges the width of the whole body of the 5th wheel.  It's 29 ft in length and I forget the total length with our tow vehicle (a Ford truck) with the 5th wheel.  Please do not feel ignorant - only those who have searched the market for something like this become familiar with the terms used.  We spent probably 5 yrs on & off researching the market before we bought what we bought.

Hope I didn't confuse or get too "windy" on the subject   Grin.  RV stands for recreational vehicle.

Hello friends,
I am so built up by what all of you have posted.
Heidi - I am so sad for your friend, and for you.  It is very hard when a friend thinks you have disserted them.  I believe from your post - you have a wonderful heart and attitude about her situation.  It is indeed a hard life situation, one we will all come to eventually.  Life is temporary - but we are bound for a far better place.

I think the key to everything is to turn over what we humans think we have - control.  We really don't have it - we just think we do.  I know in my own life it seem I come from a long line of very strong-willed women.  It has not been easy at times for me to turn over "control" but when I have let go- it has always turned out better than I would have ever thought.  There are so many scriptures that teach this life lesson - that if we but let the Lord have his have way, we can live a far better life.

My Dad, who was a spiritual giant,  always had the attitude "if the Lord wills".  He went to his grave with this attitude and it infected many people who would not have otherwise darkened the door of a church building.

So Heidi - don't lose hope for your friend.  Just give your friend love.  Bear with her as her mind is trying to grasp what may be in store.  Anyone who is struggling with the possibility of dying soon goes through many emotions.  Sometimes they may say things they would not ever have said if they were not so emotionaly upset and scared of the unknown.  And they don't mean them.  I know it hard for you when your friend says things that hurt, and you just want to give her something to hold on to.

I pray that the way you minister to your friend will have an impact on her life and that she will see your true motives and not lash out toward you.

P.S. I'm sorry if I veered off track too much here on my post.

In Christian Love,
Sissy

Say...
Aren't there any of you ladies out there who RV?  I sure was hoping I would get some input on that subject by now.  Shucks!  Maybe I'm just too old for you guys...NOT!  It's my husband's fault, he retired too early....just kidding!  Grin
I love to travel and I find that you meet so many really nice people when you are out there touring the countryside.  We've only had our 5th wheel a short time and I have to pinch myself to believe we really have one.  I dreamed and waited for a long time prior to buying this one.  We did a ton of research before buying.  My husband is an analyst by nature and by profession.  He was a programmer analyst for the state here in TX.  He retired with 30 yrs (2 of which were military).  I'm also retired from the state (20 yrs).
Now, come on, there must be somebody out there that RV's at least on the wk ends?

19  Fellowship / Just For Women / How many out there are RVer's? on: October 04, 2003, 08:35:41 AM
Good morning all,
I woke up thinking I'd love to know if there are many of you out there who enjoy traveling in recreational vehicles (RVs). My husband & I recently bought a 5th wheel. For those who haven't explored the world of RVs-that's a type that hooks onto your tow vehicle. In our case, we have a 29 ft. 5th wheel & a Ford-250 truck for our tow vehicle. We gone on only 2 "shake-down" trips.  That is trips to find out where the bugs are-things needing to be fixed, that sort of thing. We have had 1 major thing so far, but it has been fixed and now I'm anxious to get back on the road to get more experience under our belts. I've told my husband that I want to learn everything-he is a little nervous about me doing the driving while towing our 5th wheel. I am too, but it won't stop me from doing it!  Grin

I'd love to hear from other women out there who have done this sort of thing and tell of their adventures.

Yours in Christ, Sissy

Hi Butterflywings,
Right now I'm looking for a church home and I thought I was going to have to go alone to visit one this coming Sun. But, now I think my hubby will go with me.  I was brought up in a very close church family and I miss it so much.

When I was a young and now in mid-life I know that the church is not the building - it is where two or three are gathered together - to worship and follow the teachings of Christ Jesus.  So I will be patient until the Lord shows me a place to worship with other Christians.

I was curious though about the way you phrased that you are involved with church activities but are lonely sometimes, then you said "that's another story.  If you wish, please clarify.  No pressure.

Yours in Christ, Sissy

That VERY cool Tamara, do you mean "The Yellow Rose of Texas" (a very old song) or something more modern?

Oops! I
'm not sure if I sent a post or not, I wasn't through, but don't know enough about the workings to know how to find out.
Anyway, Tamara - I'm sure you know even though this is a Christian web site - we all need to be careful.  So I won't tell exactly where in TX I live.  I was born, reared and have lived most of my life in TX is very special.  Just ask my husband - he tried to convince me to move to FL a couple of yrs ago.  I lived in CA for a brief 4 mos.  I raised my children here in TX. I do love to travel and see other places - in the states and maybe if God allows - across "the pond".  I have visited Canada as a teenager, and loved it. It was so beautiful. I got the "wunderlust" as a very young child.  My parents loved to visit relatives in other states when the budget allowed.  Times were tough, but sometimes we got to go.  Hope that the answer will encourage others to talk about travel.

I found this poem this a.m.  Hope you like it  Smiley

A two minute read

As I was walking down life's highway many years ago
I came upon a sign that read Heavens Grocery Store.
When I got a little closer the doors swung open wide
And when I came to myself I was standing inside.
I saw a host of angels.
They were standing everywhere
One handed me a basket and said "My child shop with care."
Everything a human needed was in that grocery store
And what you could not carry you could come back for more.
First I got some Patience.
Love was in that same row.
Further down was Understanding, you need that everywhere you go.
I got a box or two of Wisdom and Faith a bag or two.
And Charity of course I would need some of that too.
I couldn't miss the Holy Ghost. It was all over the place.
And then some Strength and Courage to help me run this race.
My basket was getting full but I remembered I needed Grace,
And then I chose Salvation for Salvation was for free
I tried to get enough of that to do for you and me.
Then I started to the counter to pay my grocery bill,
For I thought I had everything to do the Masters will.
As I went up the aisle I saw Prayer and put that in,
For I knew when I stepped outside I would run into sin.
Peace and Joy were plentiful, the last things on the shelf.
Song and Praise were hanging near so I just helped myself.
Then I said to the angel "Now how much do I owe?"
He smiled and said, "Just take them everywhere you go."
Again I asked, "Really now, How much do I owe?"
"My child" he, "God paid your bill a long long time ago."

This poem has been sent to you with love.

Hello Peaches...
I've read all the posts & I know you will be edified by them all.  I have a question which may seem harsh - did you discuss having children with your husband prior to marriage?

I'm sure it's just a case of your husband wanting to live as a couple first before children enter the picture.  A couple needs time together first and rarely are they "in tune" with a  serious decision like adding children.  I know in my case my husband was not really "ready" when I proposed it to him.  Now 25 yrs later - it all worked out.  I have 2 grown daughters and a 4-yr old granddaughter.

Heavenly Father - please give Peaches comfort & peace in her turmoil.  Bring to mind the scriptures she needs that will give her that peace and patience.  In Jesus Christ's Name, Amen.

I came across the following today in my devotional.  Although it covers suffering in general, I think it might help.  I hope it does.  Heavenly Father, may she be comforted through this article & scriptures. In Jesus Christ's Name, Amen.

--------------------------
Excerped from an article on suffering:

The Good News
Suffering may belong to this world and us with it while we live here, but the good news is that we do not belong to this world forever. Jesus saves us in at least three ways by His grace through faith:
1. By His death on the cross we have been saved from the penalty of sin – past
2. By His resurrection we can and are being saved daily from the power of sin – present
3. By His ascension we will be saved from the presence of sin - future
We are not to be conformed to this world but are called to present ourselves as “living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God” (Romans 12:1-2). When we allow Christ to transform us, we will “be able to test and approve what God's will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
God’s will is not for our comfort, convenience, safety, security, health, personal rights, prestige, position, authority and power. But because the will of God is for us to be conformed to the image of His Son, all things work together for our good.
We suffer adversity:
 in order to be glorified with Him (Romans 8:16-19)
 in order that the life of Jesus may be manifested (shown) in our bodies (2 Corinthians 4:7-11)
 to cease from sin (from lust to the will of God) (I Peter 4:1-2)
 for our blessing (I Peter 4:12-19)
 to perfect us, confirm us, strengthen us and establish us (I Peter 5:8-10)
 to produce eternal glory (2 Corinthians 4:16-18)
to help us to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7)
 to produce perseverance, proven character, hope and love of God in our hearts (by the Holy Spirit) (Romans 5:3-5)
 to keep His Word and learn His statutes (Psalm 119:67, 71)
 as a testimony and encouragement to other Christians and to be able to experience God's comfort and so comfort others (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4)
 in order not to trust in ourselves, but in God (2 Corinthians 1:8, 9)
 to be a living demonstration of God's power, to keep us from exalting ourselves; to show it isn't our strength (2 Corinthians 12:7-10)
 to prepare us to reign with Him (2 Timothy 2:9-12)
 to produce endurance (James 1:3, 2 Timothy 4:5)
The Choice
The real issue is not what happens to us, but how we respond.
1. Negative Response - a response of unbelief characterized by
a) Blaming someone else (Galatians 5:15; Romans 12:14, 17-19, 21)
b) Indulging in self-pity (I Peter 4:12; Hebrews 12:3-13)
c) Fostering unforgiveness - bitterness, resentment, hostility, withdrawal (Hebrews 12:15; Matthew 6:14-15, Mark 11:24-25
d) Fighting against suffering - attacking others, self-justification (James 3:13-18; Matthew 5:44; 2 Timothy 2:24,25)
2. Positive response - a response of faith
a) Affirming that God loves us (Romans 8:1, 31-39)
b) Remembering that Jesus understands (Isaiah 53:1-12; Hebrews 4:15, 5:1-9, 12:2-4)
c) Affirming that God can use all things for good (Romans 8:28)
d) Specifically giving thanks (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
e) As a step of faith, considering it joy (James 1:2-4)
f) Exulting in tribulation (Romans 5:3)
We cannot escape suffering, but we can choose to respond in faith. Christ is our hope, our salvation, our comfort and our refuge.
