16  Theology / Apologetics / Re:can only christians go to heaven? on: August 25, 2003, 10:30:13 PM
Froggy,
You ask if only Chrisians will go to heaven..... Let me say this.... I know there are a lot of people on this good earth who call themselves and consider themsevles to be Christian.
There are a lot of people who think that living a good life, and being kind and giving is all that is required to get into heaven.
If you are Jewish you know that your 'laws' are required to be followed  and there are things you have to do to be worthy of going to heaven.
We, who, believe that Jesus Christ wasn't just a good teacher... He IS the true and only Son of the living God.
As far as Christs' teachings being corrupted, I think not.... as there is vast evidence that the  books of the New Testament are the same today as in the days that they were written.
In that Testament, it states that Christ is the one and only way to get to heaven.  No ifs ands or buts.... there is no way other than through the true belief in Jesus as our Savior that we can every hope to get into heaven.   Wide is the road, but narrow is the gate!!
    God bless,   Joy

Peaches,
I know it is hard when we are denied something we want so badly but there has to be a reason your hubby doesn't want children at this time.
Maybe praying about this situation and having a heart to heart talk, seeking Gods' wisdom on this matter is the thing to do....
Having a child  even when the spouse doesn't want children can be a disaster... the spouse will never be able to trust you again and the child will pay the price for being an 'unwanted' child....
Trust that God knows what He is doing and that if and when the time is right for you, you will have that baby!!In God's time, not in ours..... the child will be truly welcomed and wanted and the parents will be truely blessed!
Good luck and I'll be praying for you,

20  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:IS IT JUST ME, OR... on: July 09, 2003, 02:52:54 PM
Missyanne, you are sooo right about the signs of the times... it seems that there are so few signs left.  I would be excited about it for myself, but there are sooooooo many people out there who should hear the word and be saved. Family members amoung them... We should all pray that there is still time for those who need to hear the word.....
I pray that they still want to hear!!!!     Joy Grin Grin Grin

This guessing game has been goin on for over 2000 years!  We are to be ready WHENEVER it comes, not sit around figuring out what day and hour... no one knows, not even Christ knew what day it would come..... Just be ready and live each day as if this is it!!!!!   Joy Grin Grin Grin
22  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Why doesn't God show himself? on: May 26, 2003, 10:11:39 AM
Someguy,, I wish I had an easy answer for you, but easy isn't the way to Christ.... sometimes our intellect can get in the way and the things we 'know' are the things that block us from what is right....
All I know that it says in the Bible to seek and you will find, knock and it shall be opened up to you... so do not cease seeking, God will show Himself to those who are seeking with an open heart and mind , don't close off your 'mind' with a prove it to me or else attitude.... search with a heart that is saying, God, please show yourself to me, make in me a pure heart where you can reside.... keep searching,,,and may God open up your eyes and your heart to all He can give you... Joy
23  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Why doesn't God show himself? on: May 23, 2003, 08:24:43 PM
Sometimes we have to quit 'looking' with our head or intellect and just search with our hearts.  Blessed are you 'Thomas" for you have seen and believed, but more blessed are those who have not seen and still believed!  What more can you say ?.
Faith sometimes doesn't make any sense.  In fact most of the time it doesn't... it is based on the Word, the historical facts which more and more are being uncovered all the time, and the 'still small  voice' that you hear, the feeling of peace that you can't explain to anyone.  The 'presence' of the Holy Spirit as it guides you in your life... The evidence of the small every day miracles that you see when you watch a humming bird, or a rainbow...
This may all sound kind of nostalgic, but it is an every day presence that is 'felt' in your heart.  May your search bring you there.... God bless, Joy

I just got done reading all of these posts!! VERY INTERESTING~!
Everyone is trying to 'prove' their 'theories', beliefs, etc.  I can't 'prove' to you that God exists, like you can't 'prove' to me that He doesn't!!!!  You have to take the evidence given to you and consider the sources, the 'thousands' of years that has passed and the unlikely hood that the Bible could have been written in the first place to all fall into place, prophesies that have come to pass, all coincidence???  That it'self would be a miracle.. Jesus did exist,,, proven by historical record... WAS HE THE SON OF GOD??
I don't know of anyone else ever written about to do the miracles that He did, and rise from the dead!! Did He rise from the dead?  over 500 people saw and spoke to Him...
I suggest the book The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict by Johs McDowell... It has many historical facts that have been throughly researched.... Please find it , read it, and then come back here and see what you believe?

As far as God, creation, etc.  God is, was, and always will be. How in the world are we to 'know' where He has been and what He was doing before the world was formed?  We humans, no matter how much we delve into the formation of the world, the bing bang theory, etc. they are all theories.... God is a belief....... you either believe or you don't... It's that simple.... Our job as Christians is to tell you the Good News that Jesus is our Savior and that you have a chance to eternal life through belief in Him and His word.... it is up to you to accept or reject it.... FAITH is just that!!!!  Please get this book and read it throughly.... It is fascinating and it answered a lot of questions I had.. It really  helped me to quiet the questions in my heart and gave my soul rest.... Good luck and God bless,,,,, Joy
25  Theology / General Theology / Re:Hyper deception, in the visible church... on: May 09, 2003, 09:59:00 PM
So everybody thinks Billy is a false teacher . I read that garbage on the True Church, and I have never seen such hateful garbage in my life.
You pick and choose all the vengeful things in the Bible out of context, you have a list that goes on forever saying that all of these people are false teachers etc.... there are some on there that I think are wrong, but to list Vernon McGee, and Billy Graham among them is wrong.
Taking the sentence you gave on Billy, I got the feeling he was saying that those who have never heard the word, that God will have His own way to deal with them.....  That God built into man the 'need' for a God... that there is a longing built into man in the search for something bigger out there,,,,, that we didn't just explode onto this planet, that there is a power far beyond ours that we don't now or never can fully understand,,, but that we search for this power... if we are fortunate enough to have heard the 'good news' and believe on Him,,,, we KNOW  what and who this power is..... if we have NEVER  heard the 'good news' we search for something we can 'worship' be it nature etc.... untill we are told about the 'real' God,, then we have somewhere to go with our worship and the search is over....
I love how people take something like this and make such a HUGE thing out of it.... who are we to judge??? No one!!! God is judge of the hearts of all of these men who you so quickly put on a list as if you are the judge.....If we would all read our Bibles, take what we know to be true and put these men and their written books, sermons, etc... and compare them,,, not taking this 'true church' thing as the gospel.... use you own hearts and brains,,,, not with revenge as this church preaches but with a longing to really know the truth,,,, if we are wise and have all the book learning in the world, but do not have love, we are as a clanging cymbal!!! Quit clanging and remember why Jesus came here in the first place,,,, not for vengence, not to wipe us all out and kill us because we make a mistake,, but to remind us that all the laws in the world are no good when we don't take the law of love and place it in the center of our lives..... common sense will tell you that this church is a church without love in it at all.......... Sorry to get carried away, but this really got me upset to hear what this thing is saying.... PLEASE!!! Read the Bible for yourselves, and look at the lives of those who they have written on their 'list',,, see the fruit..... then pray for discernment,,,,,,,, Thanks,,, Joy

Sammy,  who do you think would make a good President?  Any ideas, since you seem to be so disheartened with President Bush?
27  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re:George Bush- Your Opinion on: May 07, 2003, 10:18:14 PM
First of all Sammy,  when I was being stupid, I was over 21 and it was and still is leagle to drink. Though, it is still stupid!
Drugs are illeagle,  and if you break the law you go to jail. Just because you said that half of the population would go to jail,,,, well, that would be interesting where we would find the space, wouldn't it?
Breaking the law when I was a kid, you were punished, today we get a slap on the wrist and sent home to do it again. Consequences don't fit the crime.... I agree that there are far more terrible things going unpunished, but if it is against the law, (do the crime pay the time) then that is that.
It would be nice if we could live in a world where all things are fair, and if you follow Jesus you one day will, but not on this earth!!!!   I gues we just have to do the best we can, and pray for the best.
Sammy, do you have a better choice for President?  I started a new thread asking who people would choose for the Next Pres?  Any ideas on what great leader would be fair, make great laws, and have absolutely no sins in the past that the press or anyone else could find and make huge condemnations about??? I'd like to meet him....... Joy

Bronze Snake:  What a wonderful testimony!  It is a joy to see what God can do in someones life.... turn it completely around....
I, like you, didn't have a lightning bolt experience, I found God, who , of course, was there all along, waiting for me to see Him, and I started going to church on my own.  My hubby started going about 1 year later, and we have been going ever since.  My life has done a 360 and we are sooooo happy and excited about our life in Him now.
I have become a certified lay speaker for our church, I am Christian Education Director for our church and I just started a Bible study this past Sunday evening.
My lifes desire is to see my sons and my siblings including in laws come to Christ.... I pray every day, and I know that He will answer this prayer. I might not live to see it, but I know that He will!!!!!!
        Thanks for your testimony..... Joy

Since we have spent most of this forum bashing George Bush, I would like to know who you think will be the next 'winner' for the President of the US.
Would you vote again for Bush, who in the world would you want as a Democrat for Pres.?
        Just curious........ Joy Grin
30  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:The End Is Near By twobombs on: May 07, 2003, 12:47:01 PM
I guess it's human nature to try to figure out when the end will come.  There have been people who have been guessing the end time for generations, and we're still here.
Hagee and others figure that God has given them some advanced warning,,,, considering that Jesus admitted that He was not privy to this information, I think it is a little self grandizing that we thing we do!!!
Our job is to spread the good news, and to be ready ourselves for the big day, no matter when it is..... God bless,   Joy   Grin Grin
