Petro,

I'm not quite sure what your are trying to say....Christians should not be involved in street activism? Just stay in Bible studies and have "meaty topics" or what.

I can personally attest that babies are alive today and lives were saved from the wrath to come(including my husband) to those who took the gospel of Jesus to the streets.

Many Christians have gotten their news from CNN, and not those who have been personally involved.

On a further note ,hundreds of Christians may descend on Birmingham, Alabama to see the Ten Commandments stay in the rotunda of the Alabama Supreme Court. Should they stay home and let a few ungodly judges wipe out every semblance of Christianity from our nation?

212  Theology / Apologetics / Re:"Homosexual Heresies" on: July 17, 2003, 02:56:58 PM
Tibby,

You are absolutely right....homosexuality was considered a "mental illness". What happened though is that radical homosexuals kept crashing the annual meetings of psychiatrists and letting their voices( and blowing whistles) be heard. They finally got their way and homosexuality was dropped as a mental illness. ( although we know it's a sin sickness)

Petro,

The problem goes back as far as Jeremiah. "The priests did not say, "Where is the Lord? and those who handle the law did not know Me. The rulers transgressed against Me; the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit. Jer. 1:8

Another interesting passage..."An astonishing and horrible thing has been committed in the land; the prophets prophesy falsley, and the priests rule by their own power, and My people love to have it so, but what will you do in the end? Jer. 5:30-31

The book of Jeremiah is reminiscient of the days we are living in.

Yes Good grief!

A must read article! There is a big movement to legitimize the homosexual community who claim to be christian (yes. little c). Unfortunately, many main stream denominations are buying into the lie.

I would agree that there should not be nine caskets but rather six. (Maybe they are trying to saying the Supreme Court is dead in a general sense?)

In regards to Operation Rescue....Randall Terry stepped down years ago ( which is a good thing). A man name Keith Tucci took over for a while then Flip Benham.

There are many godly people in OSA...my one complaint is the ecunemical influence. Although the majority are Protestant, there is some Catholic influence. I will call no man "Father". Plus those who are Mary worshipping Catholics will end up in the same place (HELL) as the abortionists. With all that said, should we who know the truth remain silent?

Whitehorse,

Prior to 1988 ,abortion was sky rocketing and God's people were keeping the pews nice and warm. Then a move of God began called Operation Rescue. People from all denominations ( with the exception of the WCC) crossing all cultural and socio economic lines heard the cry of God to first repent, then to take action.( Read Isaiah 1).  Our nation was drowning in blood guiltiness  and still is for the most part.Over the next five years or so there were approximately 600,000 arrests at the clinics( including yours truly). Revival broke out in the jails and in the hearts of Gods people. Babies were saved by the hundreds (or more). Operation Save America picked up where Operation Rescue left off. Yes the "tactics" haven't been 501 (c) 3 ( Church incorporation) approved, but the fruit of these tactics have done the following: Being a prophetic voice to a wicked and sinful generation (see Ezekiel 18, 33) saving children from a horrible death, watching people come to the saving knowlege of Jesus Christ.

Just think if the Church had been the Church it should've been in 1973 there would now be 40 million future taxpayers. These are 40 million souls who will never have the opportunity to pay tribute to Caeser.  Cry

Let's just keep arguing over THE LAW of God verses "Grace" and then we don't have to do anything ( arm chair politics anyone?) What's so interesting, are those who spoke favorable about Judge Moore and The Ten Commandments; yet will condemn those who believe(keep )them. What's wrong with this picture???

Back to the subject at hand. Christian activism does bring change. Our nation had over 2,000 abortion clinics in 1990. There are now less than 800.

Faith without works is dead.

Symphony,

Pat Robertson is embroiled in his own "controversy" right now. It appears he could lose millions of dollars with his investment in a Liberian gold mine. He actually wants the now president (a thug) to stay in office, so he does not lose his investment.

I think we all need to pray for Pat Robertson, then the Supreme Court.

For those wondering what this picture is....it's Norma McCorvey ,the Roe in Roe v Wade. This is her baptism!

Norma never had the abortion ( her daughter is living in the Northwest). She had been a pawn for the pro abortion lobby to "legalize" abortion. Norma was a lesbian and worked for a number of years for an abortion clinic. She did accept Christ a number of years ago (but has since joined the Catholic Church  Huh)

The legalization of abortion was all based on a lie from the father of lies (devil); unfortunately abortion continues with the complicity of the church.

Absolutely!

Many of our founding fathers were both Christian and politicans. Unfortunately, many Christians have abdicated their role in government, and our nation is now in such a spiral downturn ,that it would take a miracle to regain the ground the enemy has taken.

A politician by nature is a compromiser, and as Christians there are fundamental truths that we cannot compromise. A better word to describe a Christian politician should be statesman.

Maybe if Christians would've been more active, and saw their role in society, we wouldn't have the wholesale slaughter of babies (over 40 million now), maybe the Supreme Court would make honorable decisions, rather than letting the homosexual activists run the roost.

Yes, we should be active, unfortunately it will take Divine Intervention to turn this nation back on the right course.

I hate to crash this party, but may I add another perspective?
This has become a debate over free will verses election; but is this what the passage really is talking about?

To put all this in proper perspective one has to realize that Jesus is speaking to the seven churches of Asia Minor (modern day Turkey). Although, these churches were filled with Christians, some were seriously lacking in their commitment to the Lord Jesus. These passages are actually an indictment of their behavior (some godly/ and ungodly). When you get to the aforementioned verse Rev 3:20 isn't Jesus really just wanting to enter His own church?  After all Jesus just spoke previously in Rev 3:16 that He would vomit them out of His mouth. Jesus was simply stating to THE CHURCH to repent. This passage isn't refering to unbelievers ( although most have been taught this is a salvation verse). The added emphasiss is in chapters 1-3 in becoming overcomers.

Another interesting fact is that all these churches now lie in ruin. Turkey is a country that is predominately Muslim. This should serve as a warning.

In defense of election, may I ask the following question? How many of God's holy prophet's chose him? How many of Jesus's original 12 disciples chose Him?

" No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day." John 6:44

Sincerely,

mija,

I just wanted to let you know that the spankings will eventually pay off. Consistency is the key. As far as the yelling? well.......that usually doesn't accomplish much.

By the way, where is Dad in the picture? Is he doing his job?

I will pray.

Brother Love,

You will not be disappointed. Just make sure you get your tickets no later than 9:45. The schedule is pretty  tight and you don't want to miss anything.

Blessings,

Dear mija,

It sounds like your two little ones are running the show.

We have an extended family situation that sounds similar to yours, and I must say that it gets worse with every passing year. But your children are still small and there is hope.

You need Jesus to help you, and His word to guide you. The book of Proverbs is an excellent book for child training.

Seek the Lord, and don't hesitate to use corporal punishment ( a good ole fashioned spanking ). If there is alot of confusion in your home, try to minimize it. A quiet peaceful home, with less chaos, will produce more peaceful children. Keeping the children busy will help reduce turmoil .

As Barney Fiffe use to say,"Nip it in the Bud".

Dear CU members,

I would like to highly recommend a great vacation spot for you and your family in Orlando Fl. It's called The Holy Land Experience. It's a mock up of what Jerusalem was like in the days of our Lord. You will be touched as you see the recreation of the Lord's death, burial, and resurrection. Our family has now visited twice and it  has been a blessing. Allinall,

The key verse for me is found in Hebrews 4:12 ."For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts, and intents of the heart.

God's Word contains His very character, His commands, past and present. God never changes. He is the same God of the "Old" Testament, as He is the "New". He is an angry God, He is a merciful God. He loves and He hates. His word is eternal, and should be taken literally.
