16  Prayer / General Discussion / Re: What Do You Treasure And Why? on: April 15, 2009, 10:20:16 PM
I understand where you're coming from here. Society today certainly makes people think we have to have a lot of "things".
But really, all these things will someday be nothing but dust.

I don't have much. Never have. That's okay. I figure if/when God wants me to have more, He'll find a way to get me more.

There are very few "things" I treasure. I really like my handmade baby blanket that my great-grandmother crocheted for me, that I still sleep with. I really like our family photographs. Thats about all, as far as material things go.

The real things that I treasure are my relationship with Jesus. My relationships in my family. The fact that my name is written in the Book of Life. The fact that my Saviour will someday say to me, "Well done, good and faithful servant"--the words that I long to hear.
17  Prayer / General Discussion / Re: Whos your Favotire Christian author? on: April 15, 2009, 10:15:24 PM
I really like Randy Alcorn, Ted Dekkar-- for suspense novels. I also like Karen Kingsbury.

Probably my favorite self-help book authors that I read the most for encouragement in real life problems are Beth Moore and Joyce Meyer. I LOVE their books!

My favorite author in the Bible is probably John. I like his writing style.

Ever since 1987, Michael W. Smith has been my favorite, although I don't have just 1 favorite song or album of his-- I like them all!

I think his newest album, a New Hallelujah, is the best probably.

Thank you for the welcome.

I'm working hard to have a new life in Christ.  Grin Most of my life I have been very sad and wanted to be invisible. Now I am trying, with God's help to be a Happy Girl--- hence the name  Wink
21  Entertainment / Television / Re: The Waltons, Christy, and Little House on the Prairie on: April 14, 2009, 04:54:53 PM
I grew up watching Little House on the Prairie, and I watch it even as an adult. Its such a good show. I loved how they always said "The Lord will provide". I tell myself that now to remind myself that yes, He will. Very encouraging shows, all of them. They all had a lot of good lessons for children in them.
22  Entertainment / Movies / Re: The movie Fireproof on: April 14, 2009, 04:51:51 PM
I loved Fireproof!
I was very blessed to get it for free. On another forum I post on, some lady (I guess she's not a Christian) decided to purchase it, but then didn't like the movie, so she wanted to give it away to the 1st person who replied. I was the 1st one to send her my address privately, so I got the movie. Made my day because I'd been wanting to see it! Grin
23  Prayer / Prayer Requests / My sister & brother in law urgently need prayer for Thursday on: April 14, 2009, 03:20:35 PM
I'm so thankful that I just noticed y'all have a prayer forum here.

My sister, Lisa, and her husband, Wally, (really its her husband) have to go to court on Thursday.
He got a new job, and his old boss is suing him. Its complicated and i don't exactly understand it, but it basically is for breach of contract. Old boss has a personal vendetta against Wally. Doesn't want him working for anyone else. Has been going around badmouthing him, and is suing him and his new boss. Its very strange. This guy is mean, very lost (not a Christian, obviously) and seems to be losing his mind.  Wally hasn't done anything wrong except for quitting his old job to get a new job to support his famliy better.
Anyway, they have the court case on Thursday.  The past month has been EXTREMELY hard on my sister & her husband. They had to declare bankruptcy last December, so they have that challenge going on too. And since there has been an injunction against Wally and his job, he hasn't been permitted to work for 3 weeks, and they have no way to buy food or pay their house payment.
Thankfully, the Lord has been good to my sister, and allowing the things she has been putting on Ebay to sell so she has made some money there.

Please pray the judge will be just and give Lisa and Wally favor, that the Lord will provide for them, and that the court case will turn in their favor, because they haven't done anything wrong. It is a praise to God that Wally's new boss is on his side and fighting for him. He needs to be able to go back to work. His old boss, John, needs to drop the case, or just lose it outright.  Please pray the Lord will show them great favor and bless my sister and her family. They have 2 young children to take care of. They need strength.

Thank you so, so much.
24  Welcome / About You! / Lookie, another new girl on: April 14, 2009, 12:07:42 PM
 Wink Hi everybody,
My name is Michelle.
I just found this wonderful place a few days ago and I'm so happy to find a board for Christians.
I'm 36 now and have been a Christian since I was 17.
My life has been pretty hard, challenging, lonely, but God is still a good God and I love Jesus very much and want to serve Him with all my heart.
I love to talk about God, would love to learn more about the Bible, and always enjoy good discussions about Jesus, as I don't have very  many people to talk to in real life. So I am looking forward to getting to know people here. Smiley
