211  Prayer / Answered Prayer / Re:IT WORKED!!! IT WORKED!!! on: September 07, 2003, 11:13:17 PM
Hello Robin.
I am too late to pray for your original need, but I can now share in your joy. But I will pray that God continues to work in this situation, and save your neighbors.
I really liked what Sincereheart wrote about us being the only Jesus some people will see. It is so true. Just keep being who He would have you be, and He will use you to touch others. God bless your faithfulness, and desire to live for Him.
Roy.

What a fantastic and great discussion. Thank you Seven.
There is one scripture that should go here also.
"Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them.
For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but hteir own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple." [Romans 16.17,18].

As for testing the spirits, I can only give my own experience.
Early in my Christian life, someone gave me an Edgar Cayce book. I was amazed at how much He spoke about Jesus. But something in me was not comfortable. So I went to the Lord and said, "Father, I have to know if these teachings are from You. Please show me."
First He showed me this scripture..."Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God."
[1 John 4.15].
Then that night He gave me a dream. I was facing Edgar Cayce, who was sitting behind a desk. (I had seen his picture in a book). I said to him, "can you tell me that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?" He said to me, "Jesus Christ is the gon of sod." Still in the dream, I said outloud, "he can't say it." And a voice in my ear said, "no, he can't." Then I woke up.God had answered my prayer about weather this man's teaching were of Him or not. But please understand; all this was for a reason.
God had allowed me to get caught up in this man's teaching so that He could show me the truth, and so that from that day on I would have a hatred for false teachings. I did not know then that He would one day call me to teach, but this was all part of His teaching me truth that I might one day teach.
213  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Bible Translations on: September 06, 2003, 12:55:45 AM
For most of my 25 years as a Christian, I used the KJV. But in recent years I find I like the NKJV.
Though my very first Bible was the Living Bible, it was not long before God showed me to use the KJV. When I told Him it seemed harder to understand, He gave me 2 scriptures.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding." [Prov. 3.5 NKJV].

"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide into all truth..." [John 16.13 NKJV].

He told me to always pray before reading the Word, and That His Holy Spirit would give me the understanding. So in one way, I do not think the version is as important as weather we are leaning on our own understanding to understand it. But I also feel there are versions that just go to far in changing what the Word truly says.
214  Welcome / About You! / Re:Hello brethren on: September 06, 2003, 12:24:37 AM
Hello Willowbirch.
It is nice to see another soul who enjoys talking about God.
There are so many times, and in so many ways, that God has worked in my life, that I had to put them all in a book. It is called BLESSED BY GOD. Sad to say that is not one I have typed into my computer yet, and so is not available at my Yahoo group. But if you are interested in the others, or my poems, go to...groups.yahoo.com/group/JESUSTHECHRIST...
I am trying to put together a website, but learning is like going back to kindergarten. I may pay someone to do it for me, and teach me.
So many times Jesus would reveal a truth to me, and then He would give me an experience that would make that truth real to me. Usually not an experience I would have liked to happen,
(painful, etc.), but one I praised Him for greatly. For I love to learn from Him. Is our God great, or what?
215  Welcome / About You! / Hello brethren on: September 05, 2003, 01:07:12 AM
Hello all. My name is Roy. I am 50 years old, and have been a Christian for 25 years. I am a devout seeker and studier of the Word of God. I manage a hotel/rooming house in Renton, Wa. (near Seattle). My gift is writing, and my calling is to
'teach and clarify truth'.
I came to seek God 25 years ago after having tried to kill myself. Praise His name, He was quick to answer my seeking.
I have hungered after Him and His truth every since.
I love to fellowship with other Christians, but have to control myself cause when talking about God I get excited and tend to go on and on.
But I will try not to go on and on here, so for now I will just say God bless you all, and it is nice to be a part of this forum.
Your brother in Christ, Roy.
216  Theology / Apologetics / Re:How well do you know your Bible? on: September 04, 2003, 09:21:41 PM
To Agur3046:
I really liked what you said about the Catholic Church.
After years of learning the real truth about that religion,
(which I would be happy to go into if someone wanted),
the one thing that God showed me that is important above all
the rest is: though this may be the most false religion on the face of the earth, the people who are in it are not the religion.
God hates all "religion", but He loves the people. And any who truly seek Him, He will guide to Himself.
Thank you again for your words.
