1  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re: Iranian Jews to Israel on: November 22, 2008, 06:07:49 AM
Christians bring Iranian Jews to Israel
Posted 11h 34m ago

Some Israelis believe the country should not align itself with a group seen as an extreme element of American society, while others have charged that the evangelicals' goal is ultimately to convert Jews to Christianity, a charge the evangelicals deny.

Iranian Jews to Israel

Hello I read your article and got to the bottom just to find that an evangelical group has denied that they wish to convert the Jews they bring to Israel to Christianity, surely they either are not Christians at all or they have some other agenda, because as I remember we are to preach the Gospel to all men and it is to the Jew first and then the gentile, but either way the future is already laid out and many Jews will be saved either now or in the future at a time and place of God's choosing.
2  Theology / Apologetics / Story to defend the faith with! on: November 15, 2008, 11:06:54 AM
Everyone thinks of martyrs as being Christians who died for the faith in days of old or in communist countries or so called Christian ones who had false teaching.

Well here is one with a difference, did you know that in 1998 156,000 Christians were martyred and in 1999 164,000 were martyred this means they held their faith until death.

On April 20th 1999 a young 17 year old girl was faced with a gunman who put a weapon in her face and asked her "Do you believe in God"? she replied "Yes I believe in God"

Why? her executioner asked her but before she could reply he pulled the trigger and the girl lay dead at his feet now this happened at Columbine High school Colorado.

So the question I pose to you today is "Do you believe in Jesus"?
Read the book Jesus Freaks by DC Talk and then answer and remember Matthew 16:25

25 For whoever wants to save his life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it.

Footnotes:

Matthew 16:25 The Greek word means either life or soul.
3  Theology / Bible Study / Re: WORLD WITHOUT END on: November 09, 2008, 04:53:13 PM
You are right the world is changing very fast and though we are in it I am glad I am not of it anymore, and the preacher you are talking about is wrong. I don't say so God's word does, I don't get tied up trying to find all the verses but to use one that inspires us to proclaim both the Gospel (especially to those we love), which is our great commission and the end time in one I would direct you to Luke 17 verse 34.

34 I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left.

New International Version

Sorry about that I did not mean that the time would change but when the scriptures would be fullfilled it would be near the time it is true that only God knows.
Just thought I would add this as have just been off the phone to friends in Canada and it was the first time I had the chance to tell them of God's work in me, and looked at the verse in Luke 17 verse 34 and it makes me want to tell everyone I know and repeat it to those I have told already why they need Christ.

34 I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left.

New International Version

Sorry about the link folks, just goes to show you that ticking the I agree box without reading can be a mistake but I fully agree now.

Just been to the evening service for the 2nd part of the talk on the subject of witnessing to Israel and the Jewish people and the text was from Isaiah 44:23 and the last half of that sentence "he displays his glory in Israel".

What Stephen Atkinson says really brings home what God is doing, I take from it that having chose Israel as the chosen people is a reflection of the Gospel they were always sinning, rebellious and self seeking but because God loved them He made his glory shine in them hence the Exodus the victories the temple and so on and on.

But he is willing to forgive but on the same conditions as any can be forgiven, only by Grace alone, through Christ alone, by faith alone.

In the modern age just as through the ages the Jewish people have displayed his glory, they are only .25 of the world population but look at the achievements musicians, teachers, scientists, bankers, doctors,Noble prize winners the list goes on.

Then since God gave the land of Israel back to them and started to gather them back from the scattering of the nation they have against the odds in human terms grown and made the land blossom, with God's guidance, from 50 believers in 1948 to 10-12 thousand today God is at work and we can look forward to the day as Stephen says only God knows when that the scriptures will be fullfilled and Christ shall come again.

Now as he also said it is no mistake that Israel is surrounded by foes and that they have all the worldly wealth, which we as so called Christian countries pander to them for, but we would do well to remember not to store up riches here or be unequally yolked with un-believers but rather we should be praying for God's Holy Spirit to convict the souls of the Jewish people and bring them back to Christ and so bring nearer the day of Salvation for us all.

I have not put all the supporting scriptures in as I have said I don't want to be always quoting as I don't presume to know enough but it is there and it is true.
So if that all is not "displaying his glory in Israel" I don't know what is?
6  Theology / Bible Study / Rememberance Sunday! on: November 09, 2008, 10:11:54 AM
Here in the UK the Sunday nearest 11th November the armistice signing of World War 1 we have services to remember the sacrifice of soldiers of the 2 world wars and other conflicts up to the present, not to remember victories or defeats but sacrifice by those who gave us the freedoms we enjoy and abuse.

Now of course this being a Christian site you are all already way ahead of me in thinking we should remember the sacrifice that can save all people, that of the Lord Jesus and you are absolutely correct, but we had a preacher at our church this morning who is a deputy for CWI (Christian witness for Israel) and he reminded us again that the it is only because the Jewish people rejected the the Gospel and Christ that we were able to get the crumbs off the table meant for the dogs. ( And what filling crumbs they are)

He doesn't get carried away with prophetic or political things but the Biblical facts that Israel (the people) are still God's chosen people and that we need to pray and witness to the Jewish people all over the world to accept Christ as their saviour just as we do and indeed it is encouraging to know that even in the day when the Gentile world is rejecting Christ even more than ever, the Jewish people are embracing Him more and more.
About 40 years ago or so there were only a bout 50 Believing Jews and today the number is nearer 10,000.

Now history does not help our witness because "religious Christians" I use the words loosely have conspired to help in the persecution of the Jews and so their retreat into the ghetto mentality of their own religion even if not acceptable is somewhat understandable.

I think what I am trying to say is that we owe a debt of gratitude to a Jewish Son of God and to the Jewish people who though not yet gathered back to their Father will be when they come to Christ in faith and repentance.

7  Welcome / About You! / Hello. on: November 08, 2008, 01:00:35 PM
Hello to everyone, just thought I would give a brief introduction to myself, I'm from Northern Ireland and am as old as my gums and slightly older than my teeth, I suppose if you want to label me I am a Bible believing Christian and that means all of it I don't quote from it to suit any agenda that is popular or unpopular, that I like or don't if it's there it is there for a reason.
I'm not long saved I know very little about anything but am willing to learn as long as I can square it with scriptures as given by God and not any manmade extras.
I would recommend the website I have in my profile only because the man David Legge tells everyone not to believe him but to check in the Bible for themselves.
Having said all this I think I can confidently put this quote in as being true of myself.

Romans 3:10-18 NIV

10As it is written:
   "There is no one righteous, not even one;
11there is no one who understands,
      no one who seeks God.
    12All have turned away,
      they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
      not even one."[a]
    13"Their throats are open graves;
      their tongues practice deceit."
"The poison of vipers is on their lips."[c]
14"Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness."[d]
    15"Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16ruin and misery mark their ways,
17and the way of peace they do not know."[e]
18"There is no fear of God before their eyes."[f]

Footnotes:

Romans 3:12 Psalms 14:1-3; 53:1-3; Eccles. 7:20
Romans 3:13 Psalm 5:9
Romans 3:13 Psalm 140:3
Romans 3:14 Psalm 10:7
Romans 3:17 Isaiah 59:7,8
Romans 3:18 Psalm 36:1

And I said it would be brief?, just goes to show that God's word is true, my tongue practices deceit.
8  Theology / Bible Study / Re: Biblical Creation vs. Evolution on: November 08, 2008, 12:35:17 PM
Thanks for the welcome , I have heard people say why did God make so many stars, planets, galaxies etc if there is only life here on earth, well if they would start at the beginning God tells us why, now you have to read the KJV for this to read true but the translations also work.Genesis 1:14

14And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

The first point I would think is that of course God wanted only to make the best and most spectacular to show His glory to mankind when they were created, 2nd they were to "be for signs" I take that as the way navigators use the stars and planets etc for guidance, 3rd the seasons are obvious enough it takes the earth 365 days to orbit the sun and 28 days for the lunar phases, 24 hours in a day and then we come to the week the only non natural time period that is because God gave it to us on the 7th day He rested.
Now I'm not that long saved but I have grasped this thanks to God putting it in my mind because I certainly didn't think of it, I'm open to different interpretations however?
Think I'll close all my posts with the same ending.
"From Genesis to Revelation, I believe it all".

In other words, Christians Unite will be the opposite of our public schools.

Hello I am new and haven't even had time to introduce myself yet but thought I would just make a quick comment on the school part of this discussion.
I'm from the UK Northern Ireland to be precise but just as in the USA the schools here teach the E word as fact and just as in the USA we are now reaping the rewards of this for when God is taken out of the schools so the devil moves in.
I can't be the only one who makes the connection between school massacres and the absence of God in schools?
If children are being taught they are blobs of goo what is there to love or live for, now I'm not saying that I was never affected by this error in teaching because it is so pervasive I have to think about everything connected to this and check it in scriptures to be sure.
But it is maybe one of the advantages of having little faith that believing Creation by God is much easier than the alternative!
As a local Gospel singer here says " From Genesis to Revelation, I believe it all".
