The Blinking Light

Sixty year old John went on to his annual checkup. The doctor asked him if he was still getting up in the middle of the night and going to the bathroom.

He replied, "Yes But the lord has made it much better for me, He turns on the light when I go and He turns off the light when I am done".

      The doctor replied, "Really"!!!

About and hour after that the doctor called Johns wife and said: He looks fine. But he said that God is making it better for him, when he gets up and Goes to the bathroom during the night God turns on and off the light.

She replied, "that old fool he has been going to the bathroom in the refrigerator again".

3  Theology / General Theology / The Next Life on: December 29, 2008, 08:17:13 PM
As a christian I know that I will not have to face God's wrath but my earthly dad is diferrent, he died an atheist and so he is destined for Hell. I have heard two thoughts on this. One is that it is eternal torment and the other that even here God's mercy will shine through and it will the second death - eternal oblivion, nothingness for evermore.

In the next life God will remove all sorrow and saddness and grief. My question is (and I know it is a difficult one) will we still remember this life and how will I, and many more like me, cope knowing my dad is where he is?
4  Fellowship / What are you doing? / Re: What I am doing right now on: November 02, 2008, 07:10:22 PM
Well I am building a website. This is a first for me, as my orginal site was built for me. That site has done, gone bye, bye. Have fun and check it out. I will be adding some more quotes, and a few mind puzzles, soon.  I will be adding some of the things, I have posted here. As soon as I find them. Smiley

I have just read your thread about building a website and I think it is a great idea. Now I am going to pinch it and do one myself. But I won't rush in so I'll be giving it some thought before I start. Will let you know when it is up and running   Grin
5  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re: Help me settle this once and for all on: November 02, 2008, 05:40:40 PM
Hi David, I can't really give an answer as I don't even know these sites so I haven't been on them. But what I would say is listen to your heart and conscience. If you feel it's wrong then quite possibly it is because having the Holy Spirit in your life He will guide you.

Blessings to youmy friend

Hi Danny, isn't it amazing how life is.  Just when you might think that everything is all out of wack, God reaches down and does something like this. Congrads on being with the "love of your life"

She sure is   Grin

Hi crunchie   Cheesy I can only reiterate what has been said. When you turn to God it's because you realise the state you are in and if you don't do something then you will feel the wrath of God. That surely is what God wants to happen so that you turn to His Son and He can forgive you. He doesn't say "Oh you only want Me because............"

10  Theology / Bible Study / Re: Biblical Creation vs. Evolution on: October 30, 2008, 12:17:12 PM
some time ago I realized something. If someone says each day was millions of years, point out age of Adam when he died

Here's another point. What about if you work and want a day off, do say to your employer "I think I am due for a million years off!" Grin
11  Theology / Bible Study / Re: Biblical Creation vs. Evolution on: October 29, 2008, 04:29:26 PM
Hi blackeyedpeas, I'm new around here and I am glad that I came across this thread. Biblical creation is a passion of mine. I used to try to accomodate creation with evolution but I have since come to realise it is impossible. Apart from all the evidence for creation you can't "select" what parts of the Bible to believe - it's all or nothing. I know that when I threw out evoltion theories and believe the bible's account of the Beginning I felt complete peace come over me. So I will most definately go to the web site to hear more about this. Two web sites I have been on are:

www.drdino.com
www.icr.org

PS. I have been (on another site) called a Bible Adolitor because of my beliefs. I thought when that was said of me "If believing the Bible is Idolitory, then Guily as Charged"  Grin Grin

"Two words a perfect husband needs to know.............YES DEAR

14  Welcome / About You! / My Story on: October 28, 2008, 06:51:23 PM
I have said hello earlier but now I'll tell you somethings about myself. I am not to blame if it sends you to sleep Wink

I am a 66 year youngster! From leaving school I spent 7 years in the RAF (Royal Air Force). Yes I am English. While in the RAF I had a year at Bahrein in the Persian Gulf. Most of my working life from leaving was spent in Engineering. Now I am very happily retired and loving every moment.

I live in Kingston-Upon-Hull in North East Yorkshire with my Wife of 5 years. Her name is Vera and she is Brazilian but only for another two weeks. She then becomes a British Citizen. We met "on line" when I lived in Grantham in the Midlands and she at Canterbury down south of UK. Ours is a wonderful story of internet romance succeeding  Grin. After only one week we were talking marriage and one month later we were! I know I did at one point think that we knew nothing about each other but then I thought "I know someone who knows all about us" I was convinced it was God who had brought us together and not chance so if He said YES then that was good enough for me  Grin The rest is, as they say, history - a good history. It's said that God always gives the best and He sure did with my Vera. Literally A Marriage Made in Heaven!

We both love playing bowls, indoor and outdoor. Not Tenpin but as I say the real thing - Lawn Green Bowling. I had said that I was giving up the outdoor bowling next year. Had enough playing in the rain and was just going to play indoors. But we are moving house and going to live in York (not New York but the original in England   Grin) so I might be playing outdoors one more year.

As I said, Vera, is Brazilian and so we have been over to Brazil a few times to date. I would go to live there except the weather is too hot for Vera. I love it but she (a Brazilian) can't stand it! It makes her legs swell up.

Well if you are still awake....well done!

Blessings to you
Danny
15  Fellowship / Testimonies / My Walk With God on: October 28, 2008, 06:03:17 PM
Danny's my name and my story goes back what must be 30 years. I don't remember exactly what happened but I came home one night feeling I needed to turn to God. We had a Bible in the house and so I started to read it, most probably Matthew's Gospel. As I read it I realised before I had gone very far into it that I could never reach the standards and I put it down terrified out my wits. It is now that I understand that it was God showing (what every Christian should know) me that it is impossible for us to "earn" our salvation.

Anyway that was it for a number of years. I did at one point go to church regularly and was even a Server but I doing things in my own strength. Then about 1981 I had backslidden so that I was just living life for myself. I have read somewhere of Our Lord being described as "The Hound of Heaven". Well He certainly hounded me over the years which I will be eternally thankful  Grin. About 6 years ago I gave myself to Him. Then 5 years ago I met my Wife (that's another story I'll put into 'About Myself'). She is a Christian and to this day I say God brought us together.

Over these last few years I have struggled with my Salvation in that I always had this uncertainty of Jesus accepting me. Then a couple of months back I KNEW He had accepted me. It was a wonderful experience. From not being sure to being 100% certain. This assurance I know has come from The Holy Spirit. He's worked on me  Grin

Then up until only a few days ago I had not really felt like being in the Family of God. Going to church I always seemed to be an outsider. But NOW........I do feel the belonging to God's Family. Just like with my Earthly family I am part of so with my Heavenly Father and His Family. Great  Grin

So as I see it I can look back over the years and see The Father, Son and Holy Spirit (all Three) at work in me. I can now say with truth, I love Them, I praise Them and I give my all to Them and I will spend all eternity telling Them!

Blessings to all of you

Danny
