Argh! Ok, I put the shower off for the next question... you don't have a copy of my questions do you?

What was the name of Paul's famous teacher?
(Romans, Acts, 1 Corinthians)

Well, in hopes that I've stumped you... that's an expert level question by the way... I have an opera to rehearse for in the acoustic hall otherwise known as my shower... Have fun.  If any sesmic readings are recorded in the next 20 minutes, that will be me hitting the looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooww notes.

Ooookay.  Putting on my black rimmed glasses, my fuzzy wuzzy eyebrows, and my big snoz, I'll do a groucho marx impression.

Who had the longest name in the Bible?  (hint hint, it was 18 letters long)

(Leviticus, Psalms, or Isaiah) I stuck to 3 Books Only  Cheesy  Maybe they are long books... LOL

ROFL, can't believe I wrote that about the Baseball Misfits, and they nailed that one right out of the park before GrammyLuv stepped out of the batter's circle....
23  Theology / Bible Study / Re: Bible Triva on: August 09, 2008, 11:37:30 PM
It's the bottom of the inning by the way, and I represent the Twins, whilst GrammyLuv and her cadre of baseball greats known as the Mariners (thought about saying misfits, since Dreamweaver gives us a Good Grief Charlie Brown when we diverge into baseball talk, but Pastor Roger might actually be a former ballplayer  Grin).
The score is tied 2 - 2, it's about to rain, and I'm still trying to figure out who's on third.

Sincerely,
The MangoMan (A Kansas City Royals fan who doesn't live in KC or the Midwest now for that matter)

And the opposing pitcher stares down the batter, calmly chews his GUM, checks the bases to make sure Pastor Roger is holding to first and Dreamweaver second...

Who's on third?

Oh well, GrammyLuv, you're up!

Who was accused by a minister of sorts of being drunk in church, but responded in turn by saying "I have poured out my soul before the Lord."

(2 Kings, 1 Samuel, Job, Hosea, or Acts)

******* This is a Mango Man Paraphrase, a Knock Knock Joke for GrammyLuv ******

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and behold the whole earth will hear...

[JESUS CHRIST]:  Knock Knock....

Everyone stops, looks at each other in silence, and then a in a small but eager voice...

[GrammyLuv]: Who's there...

There is a great rumbling thunder as Jesus starts to laugh...

[JESUS CHRIST]:  My dear children, come on home...

[All the Christians in one voice]:  Yahooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and yet Jesus smiles, hearing the one voice whisper...

[GrammyLuv]:  Thank you Jesus!

There's the first of many heavenly knock knock jokes for you GrammyLuv.  I'm sure our Lord and Savior will have many so much better than mine to follow!

Sincerely,
The MangoMan
27  Theology / Bible Prescription Shop / Think about heaven... on: August 09, 2008, 09:28:36 PM
I don't think about heaven near as much as I probably should.  Somewhere along this life's journey, I picked up that heaven was a place where we'd all sit around Jesus and sing praises.  I remember as a youth thinking great, I can't sing.  Thankfully, when I get to heaven that problem will be rectified.

I'm not knocking that idea one iota though, I have heard a 70 person church choir sing some rousing worship pieces.  At first I thought it extravagant, along with the nice orchestra they had.  The pianist was to die for, oh what talent.  As soon as I thought how extravagant, I thought the opposite.  The idea pervaded my mind that think about what praise and worship is going to sound like in heaven.  A host of languages and harmonics, music I can't begin to fathom in perfect harmony.  Yi Yi Yi, imagine Handel's Messiah on steroids.

I also believe that Heaven will be mucho, mucho more than that.  Consider the earth, as wracked with sin and despair as it is for a moment.  We are wowed by it still.  Pictures of God's creation adorn our walls.  Can you imagine a new earth without the sin and despair?

Heaven's going to rock, why?  Because God is going to be with us for one.  Two, with Jesus as the Groom and we the church as His bride, can you begin to fathom the lavish love God the Father will shower on His Son and His bride?

Sincerely,
The MangoMan

Hello GrammyLuv,
Be Bold, Be Brave, and know thy Lord has an awesome sense of humor.  Don't be surprised it you see that man dressed as you described.  He is the God of the impossible, and He loves His children.  We are sooooo blessed and undeserving.  In that light, wowsers, comprehending eternity is mind blowing.  Each experience there will be phenomenal.
Sincerely,
The MangoMan

Hey Dreamweaver,
Please read my post in whole.  The lady I spoke of and myself both know your point.  No need to state the obvious as if I had said something wrong.  It was just a laughable and ironic statement of the single lady, that the Lord would come back right as she was about to kiss her new husband at the end of the wedding, nothing more, nothing less.
Sincerely,
The MangoMan

Ugh!  Followed by a deep melancoly sigh.  On one hand, I can't wait to get to heaven.  On the other, I want to meet that lady that God had in mind for me and I for her.  I had a friend who felt the same way, but with regards to that special man.  She went as far as predicting when the rapture would happen... the moment at her wedding when the pastor said "you may kiss your bride..."  I think Abraham echoed that sentiment when he deliberated with God about when to destroy Sodom and Gamorrah.  We should ask ourselves, have we reached the last few that will come to Christ.  Sure, keep an eye on the sky, but a heart open to witnessing, even in these last few moments.  I know you share this with me.  It's just something that I think about when it comes to then end times.  Woe to the world when it does.

Sincerely,
The MangoMan
