Theology / General Theology / Do you smell good or DO you have an Odor ?

There is a beautiful passage of scripture in 2CO 2:14_15, Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us Diffuses the Fragrance of His knowledge in every place. v15 For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved those who are perishing. Notice the phrase in v14 " the fragrance of His knowledge. Diffuse means 'to make manifest " which He does through us . Fragrance also means " aroma, odor, smell. " There is an aroma associated with God's knowledge. What is the common ordinary word used for fragrance. It is the word perfume. As we grow in grace and grow up into Christ ( Ph 4:15 ) , we begin to be like an aroma to others around us . The Bible ( particularly Paul's letters ) is the perfume of God. And as we study the Word of God like we are supposed to do ( 2Tim 2: 15 ; Phil 1:9-10 ) this Devine perfume will rub off on US who make up the Body of Christ. The Revelation of the Mystery is supposed to make US smell good to others. It is wonderful what the living Word of God can do for us IF we let it work in our lives. I want to be around believers who smell good . Don't you ?

Theology / General Theology / Is Universal Reconciliation a Fact ?
|
on: May 31, 2008, 05:57:34 PM
|
There is a certain phrase that has been abused by Greek scholars for centuries. This had led to some bad doctrine that can be called heresy. It is a simple phrase in English, ' ALL THINGS" iN GREEK . This phrase can be written two ways , even though translations only translate it in one way --ALL THINGS. The Greek word involved here is PAS, " all, every . " There are two plural forms that need our attention. (1) PANTA - netuer plural , refering to " all things " (2) TA PANTA, netuer plural with the " article TA , also translated it in only one way , ALL THINGS. When it has the neuter plural article with it ( TA PANTA ) ,it can be translated " the all things , " referring to SPECIFIC things. Scholars have not done this but insist on translating it " all things " ( because of their theology ) , making it refer to everything in the universe. Col 1:20 is the proof text for those who believe that all will be saved, and some believe that even the devil and his angels will also be saved. It reads, and by Him to reconcile ALL THINGS to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. This a key verse of TA PANTA in the New Testament. A proper understanding of " all things " will keep us from getting into heresy, the false doctrine of Universal Reconciliation , believed by millions of people. This doctrine teaches that all members of the human race will eventually be saved and reconciled to God, and those who believe this use Col 1:20 as their proof text. But Col 1: 20 DOES NOT TEACH THIS. " All things " ( PANTA ) is NOT IN THE GREEK TEXT. Rather it is TA PANTA, " the all things " , specific things that is in the Greek text. It is these things that are going to be reconciled to the Lord Jesus Christ. When Jesus died on the cross , He died for the sins of the human race. This part is true. But has everyone believed this. Absolutely NOT . Only a small minority of the human race has accepted this gospel are the ones who are reconciled to God. So then it is the Body of Christ that is meant by " the all things , " those members who have died and are in heaven, as well as those who are still alive on earth. God DID NOT have a plan of salvation for fallen angels, or the devil, so they are not in view here. The Nation of Isreal is not in view , for God has a prophetic plan for that Nation according to the Abrahamic Covenant. So we see how important the word TA =THE , can be, and their are 41 the Apostle Paul uses in his letters.

I believe that there 2 more dispensations that the 7 most people believe. It seems that in all dispensations that there a time of testing. The one is The dispensation of angelic testing, and Lucifer fell. The other dispensation , ran concurrently with Christ ministry, and can be called The Dispensation of Christ's Unglorified Humanity.

Bro DigitGen, I most certainly agree with you, and would like add , a few more thoughts. ( i) Peter is talking to Jews only , Acts 2: 9-10, (2) It is prophecy concerning and spoken by the prophet Joel, v 16 (3) v30 is also prophecy concerning the Millennium (4) v36 Peter SAID that they crucified , both Lord and their Messiah. (5) v37 they are pricked in their HEARTS and say to Peter, WHAT SHALL WE DO ? (6) Do about What ? About the murder of their Messiah. ( 7 ) Peter tells them what do concerning the murder of Messiah . ( v38 repent , of the murder and be be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission ( forgiveness ) sins , and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (9) this could only happen at that TIME PERIOD and only at that point in time , and not be used AGAIN, PERIOD.

I have to agree with that this part of the bible belongs to Israel. And it sad that people believe that there are Priests today, and that under Jewish Law, that to be a Priest , you had to be a Levite. And to be a HIGH PRIEST , you had to be and actually descendant of Aaron , and the lame or halt and blind couldn't serve, as Priests.

Looking at verse 3 ; for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints, v4 denying the Lord God, v5 saved out of Egypt, v9 Micheal the arcangel ( who stands for Israel ) v11 they have gone the way of Cain and ran after Balaam, v114 quoting Enoch , the Lord coming with 10 thousand of his saints ( when is that , the second coming ) v17 these words which were spoken Before the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. v18 mockers , think of 2PETER 3 :4 SAYING ; where is the promise of his coming. So I am saying that doesn't have anything to do with the Body of Christ , but will be studied during the Tribulation and is a New Covenant book.

I would like to address one point where you said that the body is grafted in. If I read that right , you are talking about Rom 11. The question you need to answer , is, are we as individuals , grafted into a tree or are we placed into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit. That grafting is to happen during the Millennium and that is when this grafting happens.

A lot of the bible is about time, and you found me out. Even though I am a dispensationlist , I study the Old Testament, and Mark 16: 16,17 is very interesting. I believe that Mark is yet future that happens in the Tribulation. Why is protection given to them , against what is spoken in Rev 9: 19, It reads as ; for their power is in their mouth, and in their tails, for their were like unto serpent, and had heads, and with them they do hurt. To me this why , that serpents can't hurt them during the Tribulation. Rev 8: 11 talks about the star wormwood that fall from heaven , and makes the water undrinkable, amd many men die. To me all of Mark 16: 16,17,18 all happen in the Revelation and is fulfilled here.

This another book that is very interesting, is found in Mark 16:17 and 18. It should be a given that Israel will soon be set aside. Because I don't see any of the disciples taking up serpents, drinks any deadly drink, so when does this happen. I know that they healed the sick, spoke with tongues, but I don't see the rest happenning. So if Israel IS set aside ,and God starts dealing with Isreal , that leaves only one time period left.

I had a discussion with a RCC opponent. You know that they use scripture, and this the way that I answered them, but I always need more ammo. In John 20: 23, this all under the Law, given only to the disciples per v20 . My answer to him is found in Matt 3: 11. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. If they were baptized their sins were forgiven or if they rejected that baptism their sins were retain .

Theology / Debate / Re: Why should we keep the commandments?
|
on: May 12, 2008, 08:21:25 PM

Do you mean that in 1 Cor 7: 14 is the commandments of Law , and that is what Paul is talking about ? Paul in 1 Cor 14:37 , writes if anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual , let him know accurately that the things I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. I pastor Roger mentioned , Greek words have more than one meaning. Know accurately is in the imperative mood of command.Paul has more than than a couple of these commands in the imperative mood. I would like you clarify for me.
