What philistine king did David seek refuge with when he fled from Saul?

(1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, Deuteronomy)

Achish:

1 Samuel 21:10  And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.

What king of Judah showed mercy when he executed his father's murderers but spared their families?

(1 Chronicles, 2 Kings, Joshua)

[/quote

Amaziah:

2 Kings 14:1-  In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.

2 Kings 14:5 & 6- And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father. But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.

I worked on Christmas but it was really fun.  We actually had our family Christmas just yesterday with presents and breakfast at one of my daughter's homes.  And all of my grandkids were there together!

Wow!!! Sounds like you all had a great time with your family, especially getting to see all the grandkids.  I am looking forward to having some myself one day.  What a blessing!!!

66  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re: Unconstitutional New Illinois Anti-Gun Law on: December 29, 2007, 12:04:55 PM
Good Afternoon David:

Amendment II of the Bill of Rights says-A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

I have two handguns, a 357 and a small 22, for my protection and that of my daughter.  Praise the Lord, I haven't had to use them, except at the firing range.  If either of our lives were in jeopardy, I would fire without hesitation.

I do not feel that I would be violating Romans 12:19  Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

I appreciate your  position, as the bill of rights gives me the right to bear arms; it also gives you the option not to.

What king of Judah had to be hidden as a boy to protect him from the wrath of wicked Queen Athaliah?

(1 Kings, 2 Kings, Esther)

Joash:

2 King 11:2 & 3 But Jehosheba, the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king's sons which were slain; and they hid him, even him and his nurse, in the bedchamber from Athaliah, so that he was not slain. And he was with her hid in the house of the LORD six years. And Athaliah did reign over the land.

What happened to the Syrian soldiers when Elisha prayed?

(1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Corinthians)

He was blinded:

2 Kings 6:18  And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

What epistle refers to Christ as a Passover lamb?

(Hebrews, 1 Corinthians, Galatians)

1 Corinthians 5:

1 Corinthians 5:7  Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Thank you to everyone for all of your encouragement.

You're most welcome, sister and please ... don't be afraid to give an answer just because you think it may be wrong. It is how we all learn more about the Bible.

I know but I have suffered with open mouth insert foot disease more than once already.  I do love this trivia though and have learned much.

Thanks Pastor Roger and congrats to those of you who were brave enough to respond.  I was going to answer Antioch but felt it was too easy.

Hi Chocoholic:

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you!!! It may feel like it, but you certainly are not alone. I have a court hearing myself, with my soon to be ex, the day before yours.

I will pray for you as you go through this very tough time.   God will lead you each and every step of the way. Please continue to seek Him.  He is faithful!!!  He is also a loving understanding Father who knows our every need, even before we do.  Please find solice in His loving arms.

God uses the WILLING, and it sound like you are. Speaking from experience: Church service is important, but keep your primary focus on your relationship with Christ and follow where He leads.

Sorry to hear of your losses, I am sure you are having a difficult time.  God Bless and keep you.

Please feel free to share anytime, you have many prayer partners and friend here.
