257  Theology / Debate / Re: thou shalt not kill on: October 20, 2007, 01:33:40 PM
There is a difference between murder and taking someones life (killing). This is not just according to man's laws but also according to God. Murdering someone is to take their life without a cause and often so with malice (hatred). If the brakes on our car go out without any prior indication of them being bad it is not murder if someone loses their life. If a person starts purposefully shooting people (as has been done in many schools across the world) and the only means to stop them from doing so is by killing them it is not murder. If a Soldier or Police Officer must kill someone to prevent a heinous act by another person it is not murder. If a person breaks into your hope and attempts to murder you or your family and the only means to stop them is by killing them it is not murder.

Yes, we are to love our enemies but that does mean that we are not to prevent evil from taking over the world.

I do not wish anyone dead. I do wish that all come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. When a person takes actions of evil intent and those actions require their death to prevent them from harming others then their blood is on their own hands.

I have a number of writings that go with the subject. As soon as I locate them in my files I will post them here.

What an excellent distinction between killing and murder.  Thank you so much for your insight. God Bless, Eva

259  Theology / Debate / Re: forgiveness on: October 19, 2007, 05:48:35 PM
I have been working on forgiveness.  Here is some of what I have learned.  I hope it will be of help to you.

Colossians 3:13 says, Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Rom 12:19  Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Matthew 6:14  For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: v. 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Although, God forgives (and even forgets) our past He will not tolerate blatant continued sin. Like the woman caught in the very act of adultery, in John 8  In verse 11 Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Besides, often times when I am angry and upset with someone they have no clue, let alone do they care.

Forgiveness is a choice.  Forgiveness is a process.  While unforgiveness is sin because we can't walk in love and unforgivenss at the same time.

The hardest and most freeing lesson I have learned about forgiveness is that it doesn't mean assuming responsibility for another persons behavior.  Nor does it mean minimizing the offense or condoning the other person's behavior. For example, if someone proves to you they can't be trusted, you don't have to continue to trust them

I'm sure i will have more to share on the subject as I am a work in progress.

Thank you, Eva
260  Theology / Debate / Re: faith on: October 19, 2007, 05:03:04 PM
Great Question: I'd say YES because:

Rom 10:17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The word is God John 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Thanks, Eva
261  Theology / Bible Study / Re: The Promises Of God on: October 19, 2007, 11:14:18 AM
I am struggling through a myriad of things and find the following scriptures to be of great comfort to me.

He is with me and in control of it all:

I Cor. 2:9 – Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Rev. 21:4 – And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Isaiah 59:19 – When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

Isaiah 54:17 – “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD”

Psalm 23:4 – “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

Romans 37-39 Nay, in All these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:28-ALL things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose.

Philippians 4:13-I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

I am forgiven:

Psalm 103:12 – “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.”

Isaiah 1:18 – “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”

I John 1:7 – “The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

Thank you for this wonderful study.  Pastor Roger posted another that I am clinging to as well. Heb 13:5-God will never leave me nor forsake me.  God Bless, Eva
262  Prayer / General Discussion / Re: Who I am in Christ? on: October 18, 2007, 03:57:00 PM
This is not an exhaustive explaination of what a Christian is, but I hope it will be of help to you.

Basically a Chritian is someone who accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and strives to becoming like Christ.

Acknowleging your need for a Savior by:

AGREE that you have sinned. (Romans 3:23; Psalm 51:5; Genesis 6:5; Ecclesiastes 7:20)

ADMIT you cannot save yourself. (Romans 3:20, 28; Galatians 2:16; 3:11; Isaiah 59:2; 64:6; Romans 6:23; James 1:15)

ACCEPT Jesus Christ. (John 3:16; 6:44; 14:6; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 9:15; 1 John 3:1-2; Romans 5:6, 8; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

Then, BECOME like Jesus. (1 Corinthians 11:1; Luke 9:23; 14:26; Matthew 20:28; John 8:29 cf. 2 Corinthians 5:9)

Daily BIBLE reading. (Joshua 1:8; Psalm 1:1-3; Acts 17:11; John 17:17)

Pray to God daily. (1 Thessalonians 5:16; Ephesians 6:18; Psalm 55:17; Philippians 4:6-7; 1 Timothy 4:4-5)

Fellowship (gather with other believers) Hebrews 10:24-25; Romans 12:5; Ephesians 4:25; Acts 14:27; 1 Corinthians 12:13, 18, 25-27; Isaiah 56:7 cf. Matthew 21:13; Acts 2:42-47; 1 Corinthians 1:10; Colossians 2:19

Psalm 119:46; Matthew 10:32-33 cf. Luke 12:8-9; Luke 9:23; John 1:6-8; Luke 14:26-27; 2 Timothy 1:8; 1 John 4:15; John 15:26-27; 16:13-14; 1 Samuel 2:30; Revelation 3:5

There is so much more, but this is a start. God Bless!!! Eva
263  Prayer / General Discussion / Re: Did Iran's President Predict Armagedon at the UN? on: October 18, 2007, 03:11:53 PM

264  Prayer / General Discussion / Re: are we being taken for a ride? on: October 18, 2007, 03:05:14 PM
I agree it is very disheartening to hear about all the fraud taking place in New Orleans.

It has touched me personally as my parents lost their home and personal belongings as well.  They did apply for F.E.M.A. and were turned down.

This taught me several lessons:

Material possessions are just that.  It is the eternal treasures that are important.

We should help those in need, but be careful about those who would deceitfully use us.

And, God is just and He will repay all wrongs!!!.

Love and God Bless, Eva
265  Prayer / General Discussion / Re: Question for Everyone to anwer: on: October 18, 2007, 02:13:37 PM
I fully agree with ZekDar:

When you interceed on behalf of others, you move things in the spiritual realm and foil Satan's plans. You must be doing something right to stir up Satan, otherwise he wouldn't come against you so strongly.  I will pray for you through these trial and tests.  Remembering that just as gold is purified by acid, so are we by trials and tribulations.  Love and God Bless, Eva
