1  Fellowship / Parenting / Re: Am I the only parent who doesn't 'do' Halloween? on: December 24, 2007, 11:03:50 AM
hello sister sarah pastor roger and all the others
i am glad to know that there are christians who oppose introducing halloween and harry potter into the kids' lives. I feel in my gut that the Lord is not pleased either for us to allow those things into the children's lives.  on that note i am also troubled with introducing santa clause.
2  Theology / Debate / Re: Tithing - Top 10 reasons I don't on: November 05, 2007, 04:28:24 AM
dear everybody  just one more thought.  There is an argument by those who advocate tithing and that is that Abraham tithed at a time way before Mosaic law came into place.  so tithing is a concept existing before mosaic law and therefore though we are not to obey Mosaic law we still have to stick to tithing as an obedience of God's Word.
3  Theology / Debate / Re: Should Christians celebrate holidays when most orginated from the Babylonian's on: November 05, 2007, 04:14:38 AM
dear everybody  I refer to truth1212's problem.  to me everyday is the day that the Lord has made; rejoice and be glad in it.  but I think truth1212 is talking about celebrating a festival which originates from the heathen world.  for example Christmas Day.  If you were to trace it you will find its heathen origins.  Today many people celebrate it.  but in various ways and for different reasons.  As Christians we take that as Christ's birthday.  Isn't that so?  Actually Christ was not born on 25 December.  So in effect we take Xmas Day as a day to remember Christ's birth even though Xmas day has its heathen origins.  So is that wrong or right?
4  Theology / Debate / job 13:15 on: November 04, 2007, 11:59:31 PM
hello everybody I have been meditating on job chapter 13 verse 15 king james says though He slay me yet will I trust Him.  that is as clear a contradiction in terms as any.  how or what do I make of it?
5  Theology / Debate / faith and love on: November 04, 2007, 10:28:38 PM
hi everybody  here I am with another thought.   1 cor 13 talks of love.  the question is can we have faith without love?
6  Theology / Bible Prescription Shop / bible prescriptions on: November 03, 2007, 05:23:06 AM
hello everybody
the idea of bible prescriptions is interesting and practical. i never thought of God's word that way.instead of arguing over theological issues to think of practical ways of living life in the most fulfilling way the most meaningful way and the most purposeful way is certainly going to be helpful to everybody.I shall come up with some biblical PILLS that would help me and others in living our lives for the Lord.
7  Theology / General Theology / Re: A LOVING PURPOSE on: November 01, 2007, 10:11:07 PM
dear blackeyedpeas indeed a loving purpose.  the bible says be imitators of Christ.  his loving purpose would have no effectiveness if we fail to extend that loving purpose. we are His hands and feet and heart and mind.  the bible says we have the mind of Christ.  praised the Lord
8  Theology / General Theology / Re: What did the criminals who were crucified with Christ say? on: November 01, 2007, 12:41:10 PM
amen and amen pastor
9  Theology / General Theology / Re: What did the criminals who were crucified with Christ say? on: November 01, 2007, 09:05:29 AM
hello everybody  the questions posed by reslks are interesting and though provoking.  the article posted by pastor roger is super.  i couldn't have agreed more. going to the greek source for the new testament is the way to do it. i never knew there was this apparent conflict.  thanks pastor roger
10  Theology / Debate / Re: thou shalt not kill on: November 01, 2007, 01:11:03 AM
hi everybody the subject of killing or taking a human life or even an animal's life is a complex one.  we are taught by Christ that even hating is considered killing. aside from man's law distinguishing killing from murdering God has an absolute commandment Thou shalt not kill.  PERIOD.  the difficulty is that whereas the old testament reports killing enemies in the name of the Lord the new testament wants us to be like Christ humble gentle kind and all that.  isn't that a contradiction?  I have always been against capital punishment. take a small example - david and goliath.  we glibly refer to that as an example of faith.  killing a human?  wasn't goliath a human?  what's our stand as christians? the issue of killing is not so simple.  take the subject of terrorism.  it is said that the koran and the bible meet on common ground where the old testament is concerned.  in the old testament the idea of the Lord's people wiping out the enemies is a  recurring one.  i think the idea of jihad in the koran is similar.  how is it that we christians don't go out and kill enemies in the name of the Lord these days?  isn't the answer obvious?
11  Theology / Debate / Re: JESUS OR SANTA on: November 01, 2007, 12:41:37 AM
hi everybody i think jesus and santa cannot occupy the same place.  christmas  is many things for many people but for christians there is only one thing and that is jesus christ.  no one can take that place not even santa claus.  so as not to confuse the kids emphasise christmas as the day to remember the birth of CHRIST.
12  Theology / Bible Prescription Shop / Re: Begin With the End in Mind on: October 29, 2007, 12:04:18 PM
amen blackeyepeas.  couldn't have said it better.
13  Theology / Debate / good & bad christians on: October 14, 2007, 07:51:00 AM
dear everybody
are there good & bad christians?
are bad christians still christians saved by grace?
14  Theology / Bible Prescription Shop / Re: A Christian bothered by wicked dreams on: September 25, 2007, 02:02:33 PM
dear deb
take heart
biblical truths and biblical weaponry GOD gives to us will solve all your dream problems
in your mind there ARE only 3 sources of images or whatever
one is from yourself one is from GOD and one is from SATAN
if bad dreams come from you you can be sure of GOD'S forgiveness if you repent
if they come from the devil you tell the devil to get out of your life and your mind.  you say 'in Jesus' name get out of my life my thoughts my psyche or whatever'.  the bible says he will flee if you resist him.
Bad dreams dont come from GOD. only good dreams. these are night visions.
Ask the Lord to take you away from bad dreams and put you in the land of good dreams.  God speaks to you through good dreams.
HALLELUJAH.  BELIEVE IT.
15  Theology / General Theology / Re: Hurting and have doubts-need help on: September 25, 2007, 01:44:26 PM
dear needhelp
I have been there like you once
I felt empty I did not feel like a Christian.  I didnt even know if I still had the Holy Spirit.  I thought I had backslided beyond recall. I couldnt get back
to God.  I felt like I was an unbeliever.
then I asked a Christian friend if I was still a Christian.
The beautiful answer which can only come from God or be inspired by Him was 'Do you still believe that Christ died for you?'
my answer was 'YES'.  i still believed. I have always believed and never STOPPED BELIEVING!  The heavens opened and it was a
beautiful revelation.
If you seek hard enough our Father in heaven WILL SURELY confirm your salvation in a very real way like what happened to me.
PRAISE THE LORD. May the Lord bless you and your wife and keep you in His love and embrace.  Amen.
