33  Theology / Debate / Re: JESUS OR SANTA on: August 03, 2007, 04:28:07 PM
i know that some will disagree with me here but i use easter as a way to explain life to my children.

i recently moved to doncaster and as a result i had to leave my lifestock behind.  i had poultry of different types and rabbits as well.  my boys learned that when it comes to birds the egg is the beginning of life,  it is round and has no start or end thus the circle of life has a way of never ending.  my boys saw the eggs from the first day of being laid to the day they hatched out and quite often we had our first chicks on or just before good friday.  we would also have baby rabbits at easter as well. my boys learned that life was precious and i never kept the death of the young from them

both my boys have their own bibles, aged 6 and 8 now, and one day out of the blue my eldest asked if he could talk to me about the bible which i had no problem with.

he told me that when jesus was born it was like the hen laying the egg and hatching it, and when it died it was ok as it meant that it was gone for a reason and that the ones left behind had a good chance of being saved.

for a child who was 6 at the time do you think i have been leading him the right way? he is 8 now. not once did he want to sit down and read the bible with me, instead he chose to read it at bedtime till lights out time and interprete it himself

I am not impressed by those who quote scripture, what blesssed me is to see the scripture applied to their lives...

i dont like it when people try to not just quote scripture to me but to also try to push their religion in my face.

i am a firm believer that we all have our own religion, i have mine and jo blogs up the road has his.  both have a healthy respect for eath other and neither tells the other that he is wrong, instead they accept each other as brothers with the lord.

the couple that i live with are religious but i wont push my religion onto them and they dont do it to me.
36  Theology / Bible Study / can someone please help me? on: August 03, 2007, 03:55:06 PM
i dont know if this is the right place to post this so if not then i apologise.

i have been drawn to isaiah 40.3 - 41.21

i have read and re read the passages and to be honest i am at a loss as to why i have been drawn to them.

can someone please give me their interpretation of these passages? it may be that i need to look at them in a different way.

thankyou in advance as i really appreciate the help.

38  Welcome / About You! / hi newbie here on: August 03, 2007, 03:07:11 PM
 hi guys

i am jo and i am in the uk.  i am 29 for a few more weeks.  not really sure what to put so ask if you want to know things.

i have 2 boys and read my bible on a regular basis.  i have recently moved so i am looking to find a lively and inviting church near to me.

i was baptised in the baptist church in 1994 ish and did my work experience with a couple who were both ministers in 1993.  i would love to become a lay preacher but dont know what to do.

i was given the nick name angel by a friend who said that i was his angle and that i made him feel "alive".   i am told that i make a place light up when i am around.  me i just like to spread my happinness everywhere i go, i wake and thank the lord for another day to show his love to others, i like to make time for people no matter how busy i am and my phone is always on if someone needs a friend/shoulder.  i turn no-one away, but my friend does moan at me when he sees me getting exhausted.

i just pray each day  that my lord shines out of me and if i can make someone smile when they are feeling low then that is all the thanks/reward that i need
