At God's Good Pleasure

"But our God is in the heavens: He hath done whatsoever He hath pleased" (Psalm 115:3).

We often raise questions about God's actions, but He is never obligated to explain to us His reasons. It is enough to know that it pleased Him, for whatever He does is right by definition.

For example, if someone asks why God created the universe, we must answer simply that it was for His "pleasure they are and were created" (Revelation 4:11). "Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did He in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places" (Psalm 135:6). He does not have to give account to us, for we also were created at His pleasure.

And why did He allow His Son to suffer and die on the cross? Although "He had done no violence, neither was any deceit in His mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him" and to "make His soul an offering for sin," knowing that eventually "the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand" (Isaiah 53:9,10).

We may never be able to understand why God has done this, especially for sinners such as us, but we don't have to understand. "It pleased God . . . to save them that believe" (I Corinthians 1:21), not them that understand.

We can be sure that God does have perfect reasons for everything He does, and perhaps we shall understand it all in eternity. In the meantime, we are simply (with Paul) to be thankful that "it pleased God, who . . . called me by His grace, To reveal His Son in me" (Galatians 1:15,16). He has, in some way beyond comprehension, "predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will" (Ephesians 1:5), and that is enough to know for now.
AMEN!!!
that is all i need to know and Jesus Christ  believe......The plan belongs to God and it is done.

Hello Pastor Roger,

We must remember that common sense and facts aren't allowed.  After all, pesky facts and common sense might hurt Al Gore's book sales and his reputation. This is the most ridiculous example of the vanity of man that I've ever seen.

Everything is extremely SIMPLE for Christians. THE CREATOR - THE GREAT I AM - ALMIGHTY GOD is in complete control of everything HE CREATED!

Brothers and Sisters, everything really is this SIMPLE!

Love In Christ,
Tom

Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable GIFT, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour Forever!

Yeah and he had the nerve to come out today with a stupid statement that climate change was happening faster than originally thought. He said that the North Pole will be completely melted in the summer time in 5 years because of man made CO2.

The melting ice cap has nothing to do with volcanic activity causing warmer oceans.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Sister, I'm sad to say that I think we've only seen the first rounds of evil. I think that things will get MUCH WORSE, but I also think that JESUS CHRIST could come to RAPTURE HIS CHURCH HOME to GLORY at any time. In the meantime, the weirdos, perverts, and evil will have to put up with hosts of Christians who are still quite willing to stand up and call evil what it is - EVIL! It's almost impossible for decent people to imagine how someone would even get the idea to do something like this to an animal. We MUST remember that practices like this are mentioned in the Holy Bible as an ABOMINATION to GOD, so evil people have done sick, disgusting, and perverted things like this long before now. Sadly, evil people are capable of doing worse than this. Most police officers have seen things so horrible that they are impossible to forget.

Sister, I just heard something I loved on the Fox News Channel. I missed part of the story, but it was something about a child dying. The person being interviewed said something like this:  It's time for Christians to pray, put on the full armour of GOD, and go forth to do the WILL OF GOD! I heard this while typing the end of the previous paragraph. Sadly, the interview ended, and I didn't get the full details about what they were talking about. The details don't matter! Regardless of circumstances around the world, Christians should be PRAYING, putting on the FULL ARMOUR OF GOD, and going forth TO DO THE WILL OF GOD! If all Christians did this even ONCE, can we even imagine what the impact would be? The GOSPEL OF THE GRACE OF GOD is still the most powerful message in the world!

Love In Christ,
Tom

GOOD NEWS!

1:  Romans 3:10 NASB  as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD; ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE."

2:  Romans 3:23  NASB  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

3:  Romans 5:12  NASB  Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned--

4:  Romans 6:23  NASB  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

5:  Romans 1:18  NASB  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,

6:  Romans 3:20  NASB  because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.

7:  Romans 3:27  NASB  Where then is boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith.

8:  Romans 5:8-9  NASB  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

9:  Romans 2:4  NASB  Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

10:  Romans 3:22  NASB  even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction;

11:  Romans 3:28  NASB  For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.

12:  Romans 10:9  NASB  that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

13:  Romans 4:21  NASB  and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.

14:  Romans 4:24 NASB  but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,

15:  Romans 5:1  NASB  Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,

16:  Romans 10:10  NASB  for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

17:  Romans 10:13  NASB  for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."

Thanks be unto GOD for HIS unspeakable GIFT!, JESUS CHRIST, our Lord and Saviour forever!

"Peace Percentage"

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15

Although it was frustrating when I was in school, there are times I'm glad I'm no genius when it comes to mathematics. Figures for me can be pretty discouraging. For example, people who are in a position to know have calculated that over the last approximately 3,000 years of recorded world history, the earth has only been at peace eight percent of the time.

Before you get out your calculators, let me tell you that adds up to about 286 years. During that same period of time, around 8,000 treaties have been made and broken. Please, don’t ask me for the list. I’m only reporting what they’ve told me. Yes, there are times when I'm glad I don't know numbers.

As I look at all the people I meet, I wonder if they are at peace much more than that eight percent. Sin, the world, and the devil always seem to come up with something to rob us of peace. It can be the person at work who gossips, or the individual who takes the parking place we had our eye on. There's always something.

Thankfully, Christians know that when the peace-robbers come, they have a Savior who is a peace-giver. His sacrificial life and resurrection show us that He cares. He cares so much He invites us to take our peace problems to Him.

Jesus is the only Person to whom we can turn; He is the only One who can lift our burdens, the only One who can offer us peace. And although I’m no mathematician, I feel comfortable in saying the more we trust Him, the higher will be our percentage of peace and thankfulness.

Thank you Pastor Roger you are so encouraging
in my world i  have to turn to Christ and His sacrifice on the cross and  I believe that He paid for my salvation and bore my burdens  and trust in the power of his promise that he would give me the peace that no one can understand.
If I Obey and trust everything will be fine but i got to live by faith all the time.boy i will be glad to see Him coming for me.Glory praise God.

Hello Sister Def,

There are many excellent translations of the Holy Bible, much more than just three. Some are old and some are relatively new, and each have their strengths and weaknesses. This is why we still use the Hebrew and Greek for serious Bible Study. This is also why we don't try to bash various translations of the Bible, except the worst ones that are intentionally false (i.e. the gay so-called bible, the gender neutral so-called bible, and so-called bibles written for and by false cults). The better and best translations all contain errors, but that doesn't hint that they are blasphemies. The worst ones that are intentionally false and for cults could be considered to be blasphemies. Sister Def, there is a fairly substantial list of excellent Bible translations that are definitely being used by GOD, and that's why we don't argue things like this here.

In the meantime - sleep well and

In the early ‘90s, Al-Hanooti was imam of the Islamic Center of New Jersey, located in Jersey City. There, he had contacts with a number of individuals involved in terror acts, including Mohammed Salemeh, who was convicted of renting and driving the bomb-laden Ryder van that blew up in a World Trade Center garage in February of 1993, and Sayyid Nosair, who was charged with the murder or Rabbi Meir Kahane. He has been named by the U.S. government an “unindicted co-conspirator” for the ‘93 bombing, as well.

Later, Al-Hanooti would become the imam of Dar Al-Hijra, located in Falls Church, Virginia – also a terrorist haven – where he said, “Dar Al-Hijra is the greatest example in sacrifice, execution and in carrying out the Jihad that Allah calls for. Allah will give us the victory over our tyrannical enemies in our country. Allah, the infidel Americans and British are fighting against you... [T]he curse of Allah will become true on the infidel Jews and on the tyrannical Americans.”

About Muslims in the U.S. military, Al-Hanooti stated, “Muslims can fight if they get legitimacy for what they are going to do, if a certain people... or country are judicially indicted. Up to this moment, I don't see any evidence or proof to tell me which is which, who is who, what is what... We cannot take action as we see without judicial indictment.”

Fatwa scholar number four is Taha Jabir al-Alwani. Al-Alwani is a founding member of the Muslim World League (MWL), an Al-Qaeda financier located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. He is the former President of the International Institute for Islamic Thought (IIIT), whose Virginia offices were raided by the FBI in March of 2002, in connection to the funding of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) through Sami Al-Arian. Al-Alwani was named as an “unindicted co-conspirator” for the Al-Arian trial. He is also a member of the Fiqh Academy of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), and he is the Chairman of the Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA), the religious body that produced a phony fatwa against terrorism in July of 2005.

Al-Alwani stated that “Muslim soldiers, like other American citizens, [sic] has the right to become conscientious objectors to a war if they feel it is unjust.”

Another “scholar” that is featured in the U.S. military fatwa is Ahmad Ar-Raysouni, a professor at Moroccan Universities dealing with Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh). Like the others, he is part of a long list of Islam Online religious scholars – 180 to be exact – who all seem to have a marked antipathy towards America.

In his fatwa from March of 2003, part of Islam Online’s ‘War on Iraq: New Crusade or imperialism?,’ Ar-Raysouni called on Muslims to commit violence against American troops. He stated, “The US-led war against Iraq is, no doubt, a flagrant aggression... The US aims at dominating the whole Arab region, destroying the emerging Islamic revival, and indirectly supporting the Zionist entity due to certain religious beliefs. In all cases, this aggression must be resisted by all possible means. Almighty Allah says: ‘And one who attacks you, attack him in like manner as he attacked you...’”

Given Ar-Raysouni’s feelings, it’s no surprise then, when he clearly states, “It is not permissible to launch any attacks against Muslims, to fight them or to carry out any transgression against them... f Muslim American soldiers are called upon to participate in a war launched against their fellow Muslim brothers, then they should decline and apologize.”

The final participant in the military fatwa was Ali Ju’mah Muhammad, the Mufti of Egypt. Ju’mah Muhammad is a member of the Al-Azhar Fatwa Committee, a member of the Fiqh Committee at the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA), an academic advisor for IIIT, and the Director of IIIT’s Cairo branch.

Ju’mah Muhammad is credited with writing the forward to a 2003 adaptation of a notorious anti-Semitic hate manual, titled ‘The Protocols of the Elders of Zion and their Biblical and Talmudic Origins.’

About Muslims in the U.S. military, he stated, “A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim. So he should neither oppress him nor hand him over to an oppressor... Now, it is not allowed for a Muslim who is currently recruited in the American army to fight against Muslims neither in Afghanistan nor in anywhere else... If a Muslim is forced to participate in the military campaign, then he should take care not to kill a Muslim, under any circumstances, either by offering help or by giving clues that might help capture his fellow Muslim brothers or ease killing them.”

With all of the Islam Online religious scholars, from whom this subject was touched upon, the theme was basically the same, that, first and foremost, a Muslim soldier is to hold a fellow Muslim in higher regard than his fellow troops, whether that Muslim is friend or foe. If he is asked to participate in a war against an Islamic nation, he must decline. If he does go ahead and participate, he is not permitted to do harm to a Muslim, even during a life and death situation (“under any circumstance”). Essentially, he is not allowed to be a U.S. soldier.

The set of U.S. military fatwas discussed here were published by Islam Online on October 16, 2001, a little over a month after the worst attack to ever take place on American soil occurred, where 3000 innocent people perished. Anyone taking to heart what these so-called scholars have stated to the extent that they turn their backs on their fellow soldiers and their nation by refusing to serve properly would understandably be considered traitorous.

Unfortunately, there are many individuals inside the United States that do take what is said on Islam Online seriously. That is evidenced by the fact that the largest “mainstream” American Muslim organizations, such as CAIR, ICNA, ISNA and MAS, continue to publicize the website and continue to place individuals connected to the site on a pedestal.

This fifth column obviously has no place in our upstanding military, which serves to provide protection for even them – our in-house enemies.

In all actuality, they have no place in our country to begin with.
The America are Christians This is God's country whether they like it or not we are the adopted children of The most High God.Bought by His Son Jesus Christ.and He will not let us without a defense.no enemies will win over us.CANADA-UNITED STATE OF AMERICA." ARE ONE UNDER GOD" CHRIST IS OUR KING

Court declines to reconsider ruling in legislative prayer suit

A federal appeals court has declined to reconsider a ruling that threw out a lawsuit challenging then practice of sectarian prayers in the Indiana House.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana had asked the full U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals to rehear the case. That came after a three-judge panel ruled 2-1 in October that taxpayers who
sued over the prayers did not have the legal standing to do so.

House Minority Leader Brian Bosma says the ruling means the House can resume its normal practice, which in the past has sometimes included mention of Jesus Christ.

But ACLU of Indiana legal director Ken Falk says the ruling was based on the litigants' standing, not on the merits of the case. He says the ACLU likely will file a new lawsuit if the former
practices resume.

Russia Could Use Nuclear Weapons as Preventive Measure to Thwart Major Threat, Official Says

Saturday , January 19, 2008

AP

MOSCOW —
Russia's military chief of staff said Saturday that Moscow could use nuclear weapons in preventive strikes in case of a major threat, the latest aggressive remarks from increasingly assertive Russian authorities.

"We have no plans to attack anyone, but we consider it necessary for all our partners in the world community to clearly understand ... that to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Russia and its allies, military forces will be used, including preventively, including with the use of nuclear weapons," Gen. Yuri Baluyevsky said.

The comments from the hawkish Baluyevsky did not appear to mark a policy shift for Russia, whose leaders have stressed the need to maintain a powerful nuclear deterrent and reserved the right to carry out preventive strikes to counter existential threats. But in most of their public remarks about preventive strikes, President Vladimir Putin and other officials have not specifically mentioned the use of nuclear weapons.

Baluyevsky's remarks came at a time of increasingly strained relations between Moscow and the West, which are at odds over a range of issues and are embroiled in persistent disputes over U.S. plans for missile defense facilities in former Soviet satellite states that have joined NATO as well as alliance members' refusal to ratify an updated European conventional arms treaty.

Like most saber-rattling by Putin and other Russian officials, the chief of staff's remarks appeared aimed at least in part at the United States, which Moscow accuses of endangering global security through aggressive actions such as the invasion of Iraq.

Putin, who has sought to boost his popularity at home and win support abroad with his vocal criticism of U.S. foreign policy, has said that Russia opposes the use of preventive military attacks but reserves the right to carry them out because other countries do so.

Baluyevsky identified no specific nations or forces that threaten Russia. According to the ITAR-Tass news agency, however, he said threats to global security include "the striving by a number of countries for hegemony on a regional and global level" — a clear reference to the United States — and terrorism.

With Russian officials jockeying for position ahead of the March 2 presidential election, Baluyevsky's remarks at a military conference in Moscow may also have been aimed in part at a domestic audience.

Putin is barred from seeking a third term but has endorsed protege Dmitry Medvedev as his favored successor and has said he will become prime minister in the event of Medvedev's election, which is virtually assured given Putin's support and the Kremlin's control over electoral politics.

Treasure for your soul

(Henry Law, "The Raven" 1869)

Blessed are those who find their constant
pleasure-ground in the luxuries of the Bible!

They commune with the mind of God.

They listen to a heavenly voice.

They bask in rays of purest light.

They feed in wholesome pastures of refreshment.

They fear no poison from the weeds of error.

No devious path can lead their steps astray.

Wisdom from above sweetly guides them.

The Spirit, the ultimate Teacher of His people,
instructs the students. They advance safely,
happily—from grace to grace.

The lessons are as vast as the mine from which
they spring. They are as pure as the realms to
which they call. They warn of sin—its filth, its
misery, its end. They unfold Jesus—in all the
glories of His redeeming love. They exhibit
holiness—as the only road to a holy heaven.

Reader, heed a salutary admonition. Study the
Bible, as holding treasure for your soul. Study
in the earnestness of prayer. Study with eternity
outspread before you. Study with the humility of
a poor sinner before a speaking God. Study with
faith devoutly grasping every word.

Do not close the volume without inquiring . . .
Is sin more hateful to me?
Is the world more worthless in my estimation?
Is the flesh more treacherous in my sight?
Is Jesus brought nearer to my adoring soul?
Is my heart won to more entire devotedness?
Am I more resolute to live for Him, who died for me?

Hello Strangedays,

WELCOME!

First, I sincerely hope that you enjoy Christians Unite, and we're happy to have you with us.

I totally agree with the truth that you've already been given. This is not you judging, rather GOD already judging from the Old and the New Testaments, and GOD giving a BOLD proclamation of what is an ABOMINATION in HIS Eyes. HIS WORD could not be clearer on this subject in numerous portions of Scripture all over the Bible. There is nothing to question or debate because GOD has already spoken very bluntly on this issue. This is simply calling evil what it is:  EVIL!
