31  Welcome / About You! / Re: Hello on: October 23, 2006, 11:05:19 AM
Hello Cindy, welcome to CU Wink. I am praying for you and your children Cindy, I know it is quite tough to raise children but even worse when they are facing medical issues.
I am praying for you and your children.

Cindy I was fooled for a second there I noticed you have the same avatar I do, and I started to wonder now when did I welcome Cindy?   Grin Grin

I look forward to reading more of your posts and enjoy some Christian fellowship

Your friend in Christ,
Maria

Thanks for the prayers.

Hopefully my medical issues are resolved now.  The problems I was having have not returned since I underwent surgery this past spring.

I love the picture of Jesus praying in the garden of Getheseme (sp?).  I always have.

I love horses, but we now live in town and my allergies are severe enough that I don't know if I could ever handle living in the country again.  I don't like taking medications to control my allergies, but even living within the city limits there are years when I have no choice but to take medications to control my allergies.  About a year ago I had a bad allergy attack that turned into sinus infection and that made me very sick for about 3 weeks.

I miss riding horse.  I miss the feel of their soft, vevety noses.  We never had any fancy breeds, but the horses that we had were gentle.  One in particlar would follow us back to the house when the cows and horse got out of the fence.  He was a Paint named was Walter.  Walter would nudge my mom as to say hurry up, your walking too slow or he would sometimes use just his lips to get our attention.  If we told him to stop, his eyes would tear up.  If a child stepped out in front of us, Walter would come to stop as not to hurt the child.  He was an awesome horse and I miss him!!!

Thanks.

You know, my kids take a lot of my time and energy when I'm not at work, but they are blessings in hiding and are so worth everything.  They are all special in their own way, but my kids need extra TLC to learn how to cope with the issues that they have.  I'm not after an easy fix to a long term issue.  I'm not one to medicate my children just to make them easier to deal with........especially with knowing some of the things that I know concerning the medications that are used to treat children for ADHD.  I rather tough it out and help my kids learn ways to deal with their issues without the use of medications.  There are some cases where I can understand the child needing medication, but I don't believe that my kids are at the level where medication is needed.  However, it does take a willingness to work with the kids, a willingness to learn what I can about the issues that they deal with, a willingness to get involved, and being an advocate for my kids when it's needed.
34  Welcome / About You! / Hello on: October 21, 2006, 09:05:49 PM
Hi everyone.  My real name is Cindy and I'm the mom of 3 children.  Kasondra is 9, Jeremiah is 8, and Allison is 5.  My son is autistic and ADHD and I think Kasondra is ADHD as well.  Allison shows signs of Sensory Defensive Disorder and it's too soon to know for sure whether or not she has other issues as well.

I currently work for Wal~Mart on their ICS (Inventory Control Specialist) Team.  This does not mean that I support what Wal~Mart does nor will I take part in the Wal~Mart cheer.  I have worked for Wal~Mart for 3 years, but until recently it was because of medical issues, but now I'm free to change jobs if that is what I decide I want to do.  I'm thinking about seeing if the county will pay for me to go back to school to get a better paying job.
35  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re: Loved one going "home" soon.... on: October 21, 2006, 08:19:22 PM
Hello Brothers and Sisters,

I just learned today that my Grandpa has Colon Cancer and they can not operate due to the fact how bad it is, he would not make it through the surgery. Not sure how long he has.
His name is Dale Jack and he is a Christian, Saved by the Precious Blood of Jesus. So I know the Lord is with him, I just pray that his journey 'home' will be painless and peaceful. I pray that Grandma will be able to be strong for him as she herself is at the beginning stages of Altizmers(sp). I live in Illinois and they are in Arizona, so we are miles apart.

Thank you...God Bless...Tina

I'll be more than happy to keep you and your family in my prayers.  I know how hard it can be to deal with such a situation.

My dad is 78 years old and he too will be going home soon.  My dad has asbestos related issues and a bad heart and there isn't anything more that can be done for him except to keep him as confortable as possible.  For us, this has been something that we have known about for about 4 or 5 years now.  In recent months my dad has had what we believe to be a series of mild heart attacks and his breathing has gotten so bad that it's hard for him to walk across the floor or to eat.

I do live close to my parents......walking distance.  I live too close to them to distance myself from the events as they unfold and my parent's care for my kids while I'm at work.  I'm in the process of trying to get a PCA (Personal Care Attendant) for my son to help make it easier on my parents and to see what other services may be available for him.  My son's teacher is trying to help me the best that she can.  I don't know why, but I have a feeling that my mom may be living with us after my dad passes away.  I'll inherit their 3 bedroom trailer house (which is better than where I'm currently living), and I already offered my mom the option of living with us.  I can't say for sure, but I think that this year may be the last Christmas that we have with my dad in this lifetime......unless something happens and he goes home sooner.
