We went and bought a new lawnmower. I sat on and looked at and admired the riding lawnmowers with their $1200, price tag and then with a long longing sigh, went to look at push mowers and self-propelled mowers. Well, I knew I did not want the self-propelled ones, as I didn't want to be dragged around my yard. Plus, they are heavy to handle. So we went on the up isle looking for a push mower. We didn't get the cheapest one, but instead picked one with a 5 1/2 horse powered engine, and it's a mulch mower so it can handle some the the weeds that grow around here. Tried it out tonight and it was soooooooooooooo, nice. The wheels are bigger than my old push mower and we set it up a little to make the pushing easier. It was like pushing a grocery cart around a store. So I mowed for a half an hour and made the front yard look so nice and smooth instead of the weedpatch it was being to become. Even thou we are having a drought, it seems the grass continues to grow even without rain. Still clearing brush and pulling weeds, but my easy fences are really coming in handy. I have put them all over the place along the property border along the river and oxbow. It is just a great idea I wish I would of thought of it 6 years ago. I have offset the fence a good 6 feet, that allows for the plants and trees along the bank to have plenty of room, and a place for wildlife to build nests and have protection. And the throwing on of brush gives us a good wind break.
Glad you got a nice mower and that the wildlife will have a good habitat!

We had a good time in Florida, and I DID wear my seatbelt (partially because I drove part of the way ) My little sister fusses about me nagging at her to wear her seatbelt when she rides with me. She'll be okay, better safe than sorry! The wedding went great and I was greeted warmly when I got back to work 15 minutes late this afternoon, so everything worked out fine! MJC Good to hear you had a great time. Yes, wear those seatbelts!

A guy walks into the human resources department of a large company and hands the executive his application.
The executive begins to scan the sheet, and notices that the applicant has been fired from every job he has ever held.
"I must say," says the executive, "your work history is terrible. You've been fired from every job."
"Yes," says the man.
"Well," continues the executive, "there's not much positive in that."
"Hey!" says the guy as he pokes the application. "At least I'm not a quitter!"

A business executive injured his leg skiing one weekend.
By the time he got home Sunday, the leg was very swollen and he was having difficulty walking, so he called his physician at his home. The doctor told him to soak it in hot water. He tried soaking it in hot water but the leg became more swollen and more painful.
His maid saw him limping and said, "I don't know, I'm only a maid, but I always thought it was better to use cold water, not hot, for swelling." He tried switching to cold water, and the swelling rapidly subsided.
On Monday morning he called his Dr. again to complain. "Say Doc, what kind of a doctor are you anyway? You told me to soak my leg in hot water and it got worse. My maid told me to use cold water and it got better."
"Really?" answered the doctor, "I don't understand it - my maid said hot water."

Does that answer your question about my thoughts on older Christians?
Well, my job dilema is over. I got all upset Sunday night at the church I went to. I was invited to go to a nearby church that was having a sing night. So I went, and I got to talking to a woman that I know pretty well. She and her husband are customers at the store that I work at, but anyhow, I their family to death and I just felt like I needed to talk to her. I told her what was going on, and for some reason I got all upset. Finally I got up the nerve to go talk to the man that made me the latest job offer, who is also a member of that church. Daddy said that he told him if I would go talk to him and his wife I had the job. So I talked to him, and he informed me that they had already hired someone else the day before. If I had been two days earlier I would have had the job. I am so glad that I was late! I don't think he quite understood why I was so happy not to get the job. I was worried that I was going to be forced into moving and I didn't want that. I am just as excited as I can be!
Also, we are traveling to Pensacola, FL tomorrow. I lived there until I was almost 13. I still have a good bit of family there and one of my cousins is getting married. I am excited about the trip.
I will post when we get back!
MJC
Glad it worked out about the job! The trip to FL sounds great....have fun!

Written by Shirley Choat
"Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe." - Philippians 2:14,15
I can't remember where I heard this story, but it came back to me as I read this text.
When Benjamin Franklin decided to interest the people of Philadelphia in street lighting, he hung a beautiful lantern on the end of a long bracket attached to the front of his home. He kept the glass brightly polished and carefully lit the wick each evening at the approach of dusk. Anyone walking on the dark street could see this light from a long way off and came under its warm glow. It wasn't long before Franklin's neighbors began placing lamps outside their homes. Soon the entire city realized the value of street lighting and followed his example with enthusiasm.
This same power of example works for the Christian, and Paul's words in our text apply to every believer. The world is affected by what we say and do when we set a good example.
Christian friends, as lights in the world, we who are believers in Christ have the privilege of illuminating its dark places. Although we are not of the world, we are in the world. We must not allow ourselves to be shaped by its pressure; instead, we are to exert our influence on it. "Let your light so shine before men" Matthew 5:16.
I want my life to shine for Jesus So that everywhere I go The watching world will see He loves them And His saving grace will know.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Don't expect God to use you as a lighthouse somewhere else, if He can't use you as a candle where you are."
