16  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re: Show Low, AZ on: January 02, 2009, 06:53:20 PM
I own my home, that has been paided off, for the past 14 years. Anything else I won't answer, cause that would give out to much personal information.

That's fine.  Thanks for answering.  That's wonderful it's paid off.  My uncle used to own a home in Phoenix but left the desert heat after many years.  Also, one of my cousins had started the initial move to Show Low.  Now she has moved on to another area of AZ...also in the countryside.

That would be me, I live outside of Show Low, Debp.

Most of the snow has melted, though the roads are still slick. It use to be, Show Low put cinders on the road when they plowed. Now Show Low, and most of the snow country puts chemicals on the roadway, when they plow. The back streets are always the last to be plowed.

As far as Trailer parks that is the owner/manager job, to hire a snow plow to plow the snow. Some areas got over 14 inches of snow. Pinetop/Lakeside still has snow on the ground, not much, but some still.

Thanks for answering, DreamWeaver, and thanks for the link to the newspaper there.

Do you have a home or live in a mobile home park?  My uncle moved to another one to save $125 on the space rent.  The only problem is that in this new park, he doesn't see too many people to talk to....they are mainly all even older than him.  And I think alot of them left for the Winter, too.

I know one of you lives in or around Show Low.  How is the snow level these days?  I didn't hear from my uncle this weekend to find out....several family members live in that area and I heard it was heavy snow.

Does the town of Show Low plow the roads?  One uncle's mobile home park got plowed only because of the kindness of one of the tenants with a snowplow!  He also had to be picked up by my other uncle because his tires were not working on the ice.

I can vouch for the unusually cold weather in Los Angeles.  It's been rainy, too, off and on.  Feels more like Christmas weather though.  Putting the gas heat on alot.

Where Los Angeles used to have a specific wildfire season, our Govenor now says we can get these wildfires year round.  We just had a really bad one the past week.

Welcome, Daisy!!  I'm from Los Angeles, California.

Grammyluv, what beautiful photos of Seattle!!
22  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re: prayer needed on: August 22, 2008, 08:21:42 PM
Thanks everyone for the prayers.  I called her husband last night and he said she will be transferred from the ICU to a regular room today.  She is medicated and sleeping alot as of yesterday night.  Husband sounded tired but I know they all appreciate the prayers.

P.S.  The person whose computer I use in exchange for caring for her cat (a "Sister" with a volunteer group) is getting some new volunteers this weekend (they stay for a year).  So if I don't get here as much, it's because of that...also, I moderate at another site and that takes most of my computer time.  Once I find out their work schedule in a couple of weeks, I work around them on the computer.
23  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re: "Christians" that won't forgive on: August 22, 2008, 08:14:03 PM
In prison systems, work release programs allow a prisoner who is sufficiently trusted or can be sufficiently monitored leave confinement to continue working at his or her current place of employment, returning to prison when his/her shift is complete. The concept was introduced in the state of Wisconsin in 1913 under the Huber Law program, which continues to be the casual name of Wisconsin's work release program presently.

Some work release programs allow greater freedom for the prisoner, allowing prisoners who follow a Monday-Friday work week to attend work and live at their homes on those days, and serve their sentences two days at a time on weekends.

Hope this helps Debp.

Thanks for explaining it.  Since we live on the West Coast, my mom and I only hear what's happening via the letters and sometimes my mom phones my cousin's elderly mom.

I have been thinking about your cousin. How is she?

Thanks, David, for thinking of her.  She is still in prison and is still training the dogs.  She really loves doing this work with the dogs and has trained a few already through the recent years.  She thinks she will be getting "work release".....not real soon....actually, she wrote us but I forgot when she said it would come up.

Maybe someone here can explain work release?  I think it's like living in a half-way house and going to work each day on the "outside".  In the meantime, she still loves working with the dogs.
25  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re: prayer needed on: August 20, 2008, 08:18:31 PM
Thanks very much.  I plan to call her husband tomorrow so will update you all later on.  Today I'm sure he will be so busy with phoning their family.
26  Prayer / Prayer Requests / prayer needed on: August 19, 2008, 11:35:21 PM
My friend, L., will have major surgery very early morning tomorrow.  She is a diabetic and has other health issues, so please pray.  Also, please remember her husband and her young child.  Thanks very much.

Always nice to hear and see these stories on the tv news.

I haven't gotten to our zoo in awhile....hope to eventually get there again to see the improvements.

This is a very entertaining show and it's clean, too.  Celebrities learn to do very difficult circus acts, and you can vote for your favorites.  I've really enjoyed this show....it comes on Wednesdays.

Sounds like a very good special and one certainly needed in these days.
30  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re: Wild Weather on: May 24, 2008, 12:23:50 AM
We certainly did have some wild weather.  In the L.A. Basin not so much (just 10 minutes of rain yesterday)...but other areas in and around L.A. got the hail, heavy rain, snow and tornadoes.  The hail in part of L.A. lasted till late night and kids had fun playing in it.
