1  Prayer / Answered Prayer / IT WORKED!!! IT WORKED!!! on: September 05, 2003, 01:06:51 AM
First, go back and read under
"YOU NAME IT": NEED ADVICE ON MAKING UNFRIENDLY
                    NEIGHBORS MY FRIENDS

Well, my prayers were answered; today they all speak to me and I was shocked when it happened.  The first one to speak to me was the meanest of them all; the husband.  The next were his wife and her friend; with smiles on their faces!  Is this not God?  All praise, honor, and glory goes to the Father who is in heaven!
Yes, I have invited them all, along with some friends and family, to a dinner that will be held at the nearby school's cafeteria.  I am so happy!
We sometimes forget how much we can affect a person's day simply by saying  "Hello".

Yes, you're right.  I will not try any longer.  Thank you all for your responses.

LASHAN HARA

Death and life are in the power of the tongue.
He who keeps his mouth and his tongue
keeps his soul from trouble.

A talebearer reveals secrets,
his words are as wounds which go down
into the innermost parts of the belly.
His tongue plans destruction like a sharp razor,
working deceitfully; with flattering lips
and a double heart does he speak.
He whets his tongue like a sword
and bends his bow to shoot his arrows; bitter words, lies.
He shoots in secret and encourages himself in evil matters.
He communes of laying snares, privately, for he says,
“who shall see me?”

Is there iniquity in my tongue?
Cannot my taste discern perverse things?

Look well to the ways of your household
and eat not the bread of idleness.
O thou deceitful tongue!
Learn not to be idle, wandering from house to house,
becoming tattlers, busybodies,
and speaking things you ought not.
For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks!
By your words you shall be justified,
and by your words you shall be condemned.
Speak not evil, one of another.

Bridle your tongue!
Open your mouth with wisdom
and on your tongue, the law of kindness.
Be swift to hear, slow to speak
and slow to wrath.

We put bits in the horses’ mouths that they may obey us;
and we turn about their whole body.
Also the ships, which though they be so great
and are driven of fierce winds,
yet are they turned about with a very small helm.
Even so the tongue is a little member.
If any offend not in word, the same is perfect
and able to bridle the whole body.

For every kind of beasts, birds,
serpents and of things in the sea
is tamed and has been tamed of mankind.
But the tongue can no man tame;
it is a fire full of deadly poison, an unruly evil,
and a world of iniquity.

If you love life and will see good days,
refrain your tongue from evil
and you lips that they speak no guile.

11  Fellowship / You name it!! / NEED ADVICE ON MAKING UNFRIENDLY NEIGHBORS *MY FRIENDS. on: July 31, 2003, 10:37:10 AM

UNFRIENDLY NEIGHBORS
[/color
Can anyone give me some advice???  I have some unfriendly neighbors that I would like to make friends with (in order to live in a peaceful and friendly environment).  Tell me how to go about making them my friends.
My neighbors are X heroin addicts who now drink very heavily every weekend.  I am new to the area but my husband has been knowing them for about 3 years.  Since I have been here, 1 1/2 yrs, I have not gone out to drink (beer, whiskey and wine) with them on the weekends, because I do not drink, and that made them very upset.  My husband, who has accepted Jesus as his savior, has stopped going out to drink with them because in the past he would over drink, end up vomiting and passing out.  But now they have become very angry with me because my husbnd no longer sits and drinks with them on the weekend.  They have accused me of taking away their friend.  If my husband goes out to sit with them while they drink, he will soon be tempted to drink himself; he is a babe in Christ.  I have invited them over for coffee, but they did not come.  I have also invited them  to my husband's birthday dinner (which is not scheduled until September of this year).  I am hoping that they will come so that we can become friends.  How shall I remedy this?  How can I make them my friends with out jeopardizing my husband's well being?  I will take any advice you may have.  Thank you!

THE WHITE CLOUD

Buy the Truth and sell Him not.

She is a deep and narrow pit.
She lies in wait as for a prey.
Do you have sorrow?
Is there contention?
Do you have redness of eyes
and wounds without cause?
Do not look upon her when she is white.
At the end she bites like a serpent
and stings like an adder.
Your eyes shall see strange images
and your heart shall utter perverse things.
You will be found in the midst of the sea
or on top of a mast.
They struck me and I didn’t know it.
They beat me and I felt it not.
When I awake, I will seek her yet again.

Robin Lindh
Prov. 23 kjv

THE BROKEN CURSE

Insane?  I was.
Not of sound mind?  I was.
But today I am awake and of a good behaviour.
I love life and I am happy to be alive.

He is there, like a roaring lion, walking about
and looking for me to destroy me.
But I will resist him.
I will have a firm stance.
He has become weak as I was.

You, son of the morning, are cut down!
You, who did weaken a generation, is brought low;
even to the pit.
I will look upon you and say…
Is this what made the earth to tremble
and the cities to shake?
That tried to make the world a wilderness
and our young desolate?

You are weak!
You are nothing!
The curse has been broken and I am set free.

THE CAPTURED BIRD

As he, a young man void of understanding,
reaches the dark and dreary corner.
She, with the attire of an harlot
and subtle of heart, tempts him;
holding his life in her hand.
He yields to her temptation
not knowing what lies ahead;
harder stuff, hooked!

As a bird hasteth to the snare
and knoweth not
that it is for his life.

HAVING NOTHING

Yet a little drunkenness and you shall see poverty.
A little drowsiness and you shall be clothed with rags.
You have hands yet they will not work.
You have feet yet they will not feed you.

A little slumber, a little sleep, a little folding of the arms
and so shall poverty come upon you
as a woman in labor.

You will desire, but have nothing.
You will beg, yet have nothing.
You will not work, so you will have nothing.

She has mocked you!
They have deceived you!
And you have become as a mad man.

I WILL

A third of the stars in space shall be cast down to earth.
Hell from beneath stirreth up the dead for thee;
it is moved for thee, to meet thee at thy coming.

How are thou become as weak as we?
Thy pomp is brought down to the grave.
The worm is spread under thee,
and the worms cover thee.

How are thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning?
How are thou cut down to the ground,
you who didst weaken the nations!

For thou hast said in thine heart:

     I will ascend into Heaven.
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God.
I will sit upon the mount of the congregation.
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds.
I will be like the most High.

But thou are cast out of thy grave
like an abominable branch;
as a carcase trodden under feet.

WHAT ABOUT JOY

All your life you’ve had kicks; you’ve had fun.
Being dependent upon things to keep you going,
but what about joy?

Dad is in you drawer, dad is under your bed, dad is in your hair,
dad drinks all day; but what about joy?

Sis finds them, drops them, and you break her neck;
but what about joy?

Mom comes home at 0400 from___
you’re messed up,
dad is out cold,
sis is in the hospital;
but what about joy?

   BAAL

The nations were ruled in anger!
They ate the sacrificed of the dead.
They were mingled among the heathern
and served their idols.

They shed innocent blood,
The blood of their sons and of their daughters,
and sacrificed them unto devils.

Thus were they defiled with their own works
and went a whoring with their own inventions.

LUCIFER

There was a war in heaven.
They fought against the dragon and his angels.
And the dragon prevailed not, neither was their place found
anymore in heaven.

And the great dragon was cast out,
That old serpent called the Devil and Satan.
which deceiveth the whole world.
He was cast out into the earth
and his angels were cast out with him.

Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea!
For the devil is come down unto you,
having great wrath to kill, to steal, and to destroy
because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

13  Theology / General Theology / Am I on the right track? on: July 29, 2003, 10:57:51 AM
From those of you who are more knowledgeable than I am, please explain:

1.  Matt. 5:38..."an eye for an eye"  This can not mean retaliation, right?  Is seems to me that it means to compensate, to pay back something that was lost or damaged.

2.  The tongue...Matt. 5:13-21 and the book of James.  Regarding evil speaking, such as character assassination, this seems to equate with murder; physical assassination.

Fruits of the Spirit, Gal. 5:22, 23;  Eph. 5:9

But the fruit of the spirit is love, longsuffering, faith, joy, gentleness, meekness, peace, goodness, temperance, righteousness, and truth.
The fruit is what is produced by you,  it is what YOU DO.  This is what we, as christians and believers, are to do, how we are to act.  Yes, God expects us to behave in a certain way.  It is a choice, a free will, to choose God and to live according to His Word.  Yes, we must give an account of everything we say and do on Judgement day, christians and sinners.

You are an educated person, I can tell.  We must take all of the scriptures in the Bible and look at the Big Picture, not just pick and choose the ones that fit what we want to say.

                        Thank you, Robin
