Yes, thanks I know some stuff - but there is so much to learn and I still haven't figured out why they don't offer milk with the cookies (just kidding).

Well, I went to the website of my ISP and it didn't state that HS Internet was compatible.

Just like me to wait until countdown to do something about this.   : Grin
20  Theology / Apologetics / Re: 2 questions on: December 30, 2006, 11:34:20 PM
I guess I just don't understand what it means to be hungry and thirsty then. Because from my view (and I'm probably wrong here, hence I don't understand what being hungry/thirsty mean), if I was hungry/thirsty, I don't see why I would be making excuses when the answers come to me. Wouldn't I just happily accept the answers? I don't get it...  Huh

I'm sorry if I come off stubborn, but I honestly just don't get it.

First, I will go in agreement with others that you read and study Ephesians 2.

No, you won't just happily accept the answers because your focus is on the wrong thing.  Instead of 'trying' to get 'it'.  Focus on His Word.

Romans 12:2;  Psalm 119:11; Phillipians 4:6  - I think that is plenty to feed your hunger and thirst for now.

Just as if you stop physically eating your stomach shrinks and the signals to your brain are reduced after a period of time that you don't 'feel' hungry.  Likewise, if you don't feel on the Word of God may not 'feel' as hungry/thirsty but once you start to feed that hunger/thirst increases.   Don't think about it or how it works - just put it into action.

Blessings and Peace.

Alright, another coffee drinker. We're glad that you like it here, sister. No better time to relax in some wonderful fellowship with brothers and sisters.

Drinking - yeah that's what they call it I thought I was chugging it!   ROFL

I see I misread the posts - I'll get used to the format here soon.

23  Welcome / About You! / Hello Everyone! on: December 30, 2006, 10:24:04 PM
Hello, I am beloved (as in His).  I'm pretty active on a couple of other sites and joined here a while back.  I'm trying to reduce my internet and forum time but thought I would try this site out as much as possible.

Looking forward to your fellowship,

In Christ,

Beloved

Yes, that helps somemore.   I'll have to uninstall Norton.

Okay, 'currently' one thing I'm don't understand is what is the firewall for?   Is that what blocks the hackers/intruders?

Sorry, I tried to warn you I was a computer dummiie - LOL

Thank you all for the warm welcomes.

25  Theology / Debate / Re: Moral Responsibilities of Extraterrestrials? on: December 30, 2006, 09:57:03 PM
This topic is purely hypothetical, so please don't start off by saying "aliens don't exist" or anything to that effect. This topic DOES NOT deal with UFO sightings or alien abductions, so let us not concern ourselves with those kinds of things. This topic is FILLED with hypothetical scenarios, so don't take it too seriously.

Let us take a consideration. Let us assume, that since the Universe is so extremely large, God has decided to create life not just on planet Earth, but also on other planets as well. Let us also assume that some of these life forms are as intelligent as, or even more intelligent than, us humans. Assuming (purely hypothetically) that such a scenario is true, I ask your input on several questions:

1) Does human-like or superhuman intelligence automatically denote an ability to distinguish between right and wrong? Or could superintelligent aliens, despite being so smart, not be able to comprehend true morally?

2) Would God give such intelligent aliens an immortal soul and moral responsibilities? Or would they be nothing more than something like 'smart animals' which simply cease to exist when they die?

3) If such aliens did have an immortal soul and moral responsibilities, would Jesus need to come in their form and die for their sins too? Or would his death on the cross on Earth be sufficient for all intelligent life in the Universe? Would aliens go to the same Heaven as humans, or a different Heaven?

Even though the Bible doesn't tell us that there is life on other planets, that doesn't necessarily mean that it doesn't exist. Maybe we simply weren't meant to know about each other. It is possible, that intelligent aliens are so far removed from us that we will never have an opportunity to hear radio signals from them before the end of this current era. In such a case, we would isolated from them and then it really wouldn't matter much whether God told us about them or not. After all, if obedient humans can make God happy, then couldn't he also create aliens that could be just as obedient as humans?

I have to agree with the others that this is so hypothetical and has no impact on us - as I post on other forums - I remembered a completely different topic which I had inquired about but I believe the response I received from another poster pretty much appllies here as well.

Jhn 21:17 He *said to him the third time, "Simon, {son} of John, do you love Me?" Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, "Do you love Me?" And he said to Him, "Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You." Jesus *said to him, "Tend My sheep.Jhn 21:18 "Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to gird yourself and walk wherever you wished; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will gird you, and bring you where you do not wish to {go.}"Jhn 21:19 Now this He said, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He *said to him, "Follow Me!"

Jhn 21:20 Peter, turning around, *saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following {them;} the one who also had leaned back on His bosom at the supper and said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?"Jhn 21:21 So Peter seeing him *said to Jesus, "Lord, and what about this man?"Jhn 21:22 Jesus *said to him, "If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!

Thank you!

Okay, sorry I want to make certain I undertand because a lot of the jargon is unclear to me.

If I were to download Avast for viruses and FireFox then I would go ahead and let Norton expire?

Do I then just turn on my MS Windows firewall?

Will I have to learn how to use FireFox and will I need to notify the ISP for my settings?
28  Entertainment / Computer Hardware and Software / Norton about to expire and I don't know what to do on: December 30, 2006, 08:01:11 PM
I am a computer 'dummie' for the most part.  I just got internet service at home last December for the first time ever.  At that time I had some form of Norton previously on the computer and it expired shortly after I got my internet service (it was just coincidence).

Anyway - the problem that I incurred at that time was my IE browser just kept opening window after window..........

After futile attempts from well meaning ppl nothing corrected the problem.  Apparently someone suggested I go out and get Norton since it had expired.

Okay, so 'dummie' here didn't realize all that was available to me.  I decided to get Norton Internet Security - it solved the problem.

Okay, now it's year is over and will be expiring - It does slow down my system immensely - but I have enjoyed have it prevent hackers and and keeping my browser from going beserk.

I still have IE 6 (I cannot download IE 7 - okay I don't have a legitimate Windows - my system was configured and given to me by someone I know).
So I don't know what I really need at this point and have even considered going out and purchasing a cheap system with everything installed (yet not sure if my budget will allow it).

I want to do what I can in the interim without spending more money than I necessary.

I have Spybot S&D Ad-A-Ware, AVG spyware, ERUNT, Reg seeker

I currently have my Windows firewall off as I have Norton's firewall on.

I think that about sums up most of my situation (except my cd rom doesn't work either).

Any help?Huh? Huh
