59686  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:Saturday eve. on: September 08, 2003, 07:24:34 AM
Oklahoma Howdy to Maryanna,

Thank you Sister! That was a beautiful prayer, and it did me good just to read it.

We live in difficult times, and I think that prayer will become more and more important. Many in our nation have either turned their backs on God or they mock God, but I know that God still hears the prayers of the believers here.

As a nation, America has not turned its back on God yet. I pray that America goes back in the opposite direction, that America honors and praises God.

In Christ,
Tom

Well, it looks like you're right, Tom. This morning I  read one post where someone said they were banned. I suppose if we don't hear an official word about it, they are still with us. I think we all need to pray for them. In fact, maybe I'll start a topic about it. Thanks.

Oklahoma Howdy to Heidi,

I know of one who started a thread about being censored, and he was censored. Blasphemy was removed from several messages, and he received a warning. Common sense should be enough to know that cursing, blasphemy, and mockery of Almighty God is not welcome here. However, some folks don't come to Christians Unite for the same reasons you and I do, and some folks lack common sense.

In Christ,
Tom

Thanks, Tom, for your advice. I've  pretty much been trying to ignore their posts but sometimes it's hard when they respond to other posts. The situation may now be moot because I just heard they were banned.

Oklahoma Howdy to Heidi,

I honestly don't know about anyone else being banned. I reported some messages to ADMIN that either were blasphemy or approaching blasphemy. I know that I don't have anything in mail about that.

In Christ,
Tom

I don't know how to deal with the atheists on this website. I really love exploring Christianity and other people's viewpoints but their arguments are irrational and contradictory. They just seem to be God haters who want to cut down Christians instead of a real search for the truth. It's pointless to argue with them because they are coming from self-deception and lies. How do others deal with this?

Oklahoma Howdy to Heidi,

I think that some may be genuine in asking questions and looking for answers. However, it is obvious that some calling themselves atheists are here for all the wrong reasons:

Hunt, bait, and poke fun of Christians.

Be disrespectful to the Holy Bible and God.

Cause disruption just to prove they can do it.

And generally be the 3-Ts: twits, twerps, and trolls.

If you read a few of their messages, you can tell which ones are the 3-Ts. I did a quick search the other night and found numerous web sites with instructions and procedures for atheists to use in causing trouble on Christian sites. They have lists of questions all ready to go with Bible Scripture and the works. Some atheist forums copy some of their best responses and post them for everyone to have a laugh over. They actually have threads about various Christian Forums, who is the most fun to pick on, etc.

I would say that you do the best you can to help those who want help and completely ignore the "3-Ts" category. The "3-Ts" category will eventually do something to be banned anyway. They are really pretty sad folks.

In Christ,
Tom

BEP,

Just promise me one thing. If you see something you don't like or think isn't in order, please hesitate before you shoot at it. LOL  Grin

YSIC,

Alfie

Oklahoma Howdy to Alfie,

Cheesy  That may be why ADMIN told me to leave the 45 at home. That reminds me of a story that Jerry Clowery told once. A mountain lion chased him up a tree and his friend heard a horrible racket. He hollered and asked it he could help. Jerry hollered, "WHOOOOO, shoot up here amonst us, one of us has got to get some relief."   Grin

Oklahoma Howdy to Patriotreview,

Welcome to Christians Unite. I hope you enjoy it here. I'll be praying for your wife and your new babies. Those were times of incredible beauty and thanks in my life.

I plan to visit your site soon. Good luck with that also.

59693  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Bible Translations on: September 05, 2003, 10:43:32 AM
Oklahoma Howdy to Seven Tides and Broken,

I have about 15 or more translations of the Holy Bible, but I enjoy and use the KJV the vast majority of the time.

I love the poetic quality of the KJV, the accuracy, and the way it works with my study guides. Most of the better dictionaries, commentaries, and topic notes are specifically designed to be used with the KJV. I also use a KJV with Strong's Numbers quite frequently. This is the identical translation, but it has quick links to additional information in each Scripture.

In Christ,
Tom

Oklahoma Howdy To Coyote,

I hope you enjoy it here. We have a ton of sweet Christian people here. We just survived an organized attack of trolls, or aliens, I don't know which. They had things pretty stirred up for a while, but things are coming back to normal now. If you see a few weird messages, you'll know what happened. ADMIN just sent most of them to their room and told them not to come out until they could behave.  Cheesy

Jump in and have some fun.

In Christ,
Tom
59696  Welcome / About You! / Re:Rural or Urban? on: September 03, 2003, 03:27:02 PM
BEP I think our wives came from the same mold, cause that is close to what my wife said a few months ago.

Oklahoma Howdy to Coyote,

My wife said "fine" to the smaller house and 3 to 5 acres of wooded land. However, she balked and demanded running water, indoor plumbing, electricity, telephone, and all the trimmings.   Cheesy

I think that we have our wives spoiled.  Cheesy

59697  Theology / General Theology / Re:How a person knows that God is there. The proof. on: September 03, 2003, 02:22:45 PM
Hmmm.... seems to me (from reading the previous replies) that proof, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. One would think that if there were TRUE proof, one way or the other, then there would be no choice but to believe the proof. A basketball is round because you can feel it, see it, etc. (course, someone may deny that as well, right? Smiley )

Oklahoma Howdy to Smartinez1984,

You are right, the absolute PROOF of God's existence is in the heart of each believer. I enjoyed your post, and I'm glad that you realize that God isn't responsible for your physical problems. I have physical problems also, and they brought me closer to MY LORD AND SAVIOUR, JESUS CHRIST.

In Christ,
Tom

Oklahoma Howdy to All,

I'm sorry to say that I live about 1 mile within the city limits, so I'm suburban.

I really want a small place in the country to call home. My kids are raised and gone, so paying a few more bills off may make that possible.

I told my wife that we didn't even need electricity. I mentioned we could get a DC powered television and just pedal a generator when we wanted to watch. Further, I mentioned we really didn't need a car and pay insurance. She told me to write and let her know how I was doing.

 Grin

Oklahoma Howdy to Coyote,

Cheesy  Brother Jim, I loved your story. Thanks for sharing it with us. I never cease to appreciate the brutal honesty of my children, but the appreciation sometimes comes later.  Cheesy

That sounds like a beautiful event you are planning. My wife and I have been married for over 30 years, and we still have the clothes we wore sealed in plastic. Ours was not a big and formal wedding. My shoes were of the platform type, and my trousers were bell-bottom if that gives you an idea about how long ago that was.  Cheesy

It sounds like God has already richly blessed you and your family, so I'll simply wish you a beautiful future.

In Christ,
Tom

Hello All,

Please Read The Above!

We all need to put our Brother John on our regular prayer list.

Whitehorse, if you would, please do give us additional details so that we may know how best to pray for John.

In Christ,
Tom
