Oklahoma Howdy to Leaf, I sincerely hope that you enjoy Christians Unite. You asked about issues that effect us since the war began in Iraq. My son is on the aircraft carrier Nimitz, and they served nearly 10 months there. The Nimitz is back to the states, but who knows when or if it will go back. As a father and grandfather, it feels strange for my son to be protecting me, instead of the reverse. I would hope that every Christian prays for our men and women serving this country every day, regardless of whether they have an immediate family member serving. Love In Christ, Tom

Theology / Debate / Re:Abortion: Right or Wrong?
|
on: April 05, 2004, 04:02:17 AM

Oklahoma Howdy to Shylynne,
AMEN!! Thank you for sharing that message with us. There is definitely a message there for all of us. I'm sure that many Christians did think they were doing something to stop abortion when they voted to require parental consent. The problem was they didn't have the choice we wanted on the ballot. There wasn't a box on the ballot for STOP THE KILLING NOW!!!
I think it would be fair to say that legalized abortion was a corruption of our court system, distortion of the Constitution, and complete disregard for the Holy Bible. I don't think they are going to give us a ballot with the choice of STOP THE KILLING NOW!!! If we signed enough petitions to force a ballot with this choice, our so-called Supreme Court would rule it Unconstitutional. It would be much like the removal of our religious freedoms. We really need a Constitutional Convention to properly address Godly issues like this.
I really don't know of any other alternatives. I honestly think that many Christians have put things off because they thought Jesus was coming soon. Those same thoughts were present in the 1950s when they took prayer out of our schools.
Love In Christ, Tom

Theology / Bible Study / Ephesians 4:23
|
on: April 05, 2004, 03:21:05 AM
|
Oklahoma Howdy to All,
This is a little mini-study on Ephesians 4:32. This has always been one of my favorite portions of Scripture, and it yields blessings for me every time I study it.
Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. ____________________ "Kind" is one of the key words that yields many beautiful comparisons.
Psalms 112:4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
Luke 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
1 Corinthians 13:4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
2 Corinthians 2:10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;
Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Colossians 3:13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
2 Peter 1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
Romans 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? ____________________ "Tenderhearted" is another key word with many beautiful comparisons.
Psalms 145:9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.
Proverbs 12:10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
James 5:11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
1 Peter 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
Luke 1:78 Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, ____________________ "Forgiving" is another key word with many beautiful comparisons.
Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: Matthew 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Luke 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
Luke 11:4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Luke 17:4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
Romans 12:20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Romans 12:21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
2 Corinthians 2:10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; __________________ "even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." This is the most beautiful and precious portion of this Scripture for all Christians. We should be reminded of this night and day. We did not deserve or earn the Grace of God, nor could we ever repay the GIFT of Jesus Christ who died on the cross in our stead.
What were we like when we were lost and without Christ? Were we deserving of Christ's shed blood for the forgiveness of our sins? Were we a worthy vessel for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit? The obvious answer to all of these questions is "NO". As Christians, it is a reasonable service to treat others as Christ has already treated us. This should be done in joy, not grudgingly or because we are commanded to. The greatest joy of a Christian would be to have a heart like our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We will never measure up, but we can struggle and pray for softer hearts that would be more pleasing to HIM.
Love In Christ, Tom

JudgeNot Said:
I love you each and all – everyone. Lord forgive me of my shortcomings - they are so many, and forgive my brothers and sisters. Write your Word to our hearts, Lord. We pray it in Jesus name. Amen. JudgeNot
Oklahoma Howdy to JudgeNot, AMEN BROTHER!! I'm trying to imagine what would be possible if we all had the love of Jesus Christ in our hearts. This sad and dark world needs to see the light of God's love in all of us. 1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. I couldn't help but think of the Sunday School song, "This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine." I pray that God will give us many opportunities to help the lost find the LIGHT. Revelation 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. Love In Christ, Tom

Oklahoma Howdy to 2nd Timothy, Brother, you made some excellent points, and I understand your concern about disagreements about the sequence of end-time events, especially the rapture. I also completely agree that the Rapture of the Church will happen before the beginning of the Tribulation Period. I would quickly admit that I'm certainly no authority on this subject. I've read quite a bit of material from people who are recognized as experts on this issue, and many of them disagree. I would hope that the discussion of this topic could be positive, even among people who don't agree. It is a fascinating and extremely difficult topic that requires large amounts of time studying the Holy Bible. This is positive. I think that Brothers and Sisters in Christ should be able to discuss this topic, agree or disagree, and not get angry. I think that we had some significant interruption recently from an Armstrongite who frustrated everyone. Someone who denies heaven, hell, and the deity of one or more of the Holy Trinity should not be in this discussion. I think this thread has an excellent exchange of thoughts and material. I, for one, look forward to continuing this discussion and enjoying the study. Love In Christ, Tom

Oklahoma Howdy to Paul2,
Thanks Brother! - You've done a ton of work. I will want to take my time with this much material and enjoy it. I usually like to take this much material and insert it into the topic notes of e-Sword. That makes it very handy to follow along in the Bible and read more context if you wish and/or read available comparisons. I also like to make my own notes indented in the topic editor as I go.
Brother, I really appreciate the work that you and 2nd Timothy have done in this study. I find it absolutely fascinating. I've wanted to post and participate more, but the last couple of weeks have been pretty wild.
Love In Christ, Tom

Would someone let me know when and if this forum converts back to “Christiansunite” from the false cult teachings of Rome. In the mean time I’ll be spending my time at sites that keep the false doctrines of the RCC in proper check. Brother Tom, you should be ashamed of yourself if after all that was posted you think the RCC cult is not that bad. I hope you have better discernment in your psychical food than you do with your spiritual food.
Pilgrim
Oklahoma Howdy to Saint Pilgrim, Brother, you really need to think about why there is currently so much denominational doctrine on Christians Unite, especially Catholic doctrine. I can only assume that you remember why you signed so many posts as "Saint Pilgrim". Months ago, you and several others started hunting Catholics, bashing Catholics, and making fun of Catholics openly on Christians Unite. They took the bashing pretty well for a period of time, and they finally started defending themselves. In fact, the hate, spite, poking fun, and bashing of Catholics drew many more Catholics to Christians Unite to defend themselves. Had the Gospel of the Grace of God been shared in Christian love, I doubt there would be much denominational material on Christians Unite, including Catholic material. So, if you want to know why there is so much denominational material on the forum now, look at yourself and others who tried to have a party kicking and bashing Catholics. Brother, I did not take part in the Catholic bashing. In fact, I tried to stop it and asked for sharing the Gospel in Christian love all the way back to 12-19-2003. I did this publicly and privately. I will definitely accept blame for not trying harder. I said that Catholics could not be compared to JWs, Mormons, and Armstrongites, and that is a completely true statement. JWs, Mormons, and Armstrongites all completely deny the deity of one or more of The Holy Trinity. Brother, I share almost the identical doctrine as you do, but I disagree with how you and others singled out Catholics for public whipping, humiliation, and bashing. I thought the pot would boil over before now, but I wasn't applying the heat. Am I to feel shame because I didn't join your humiliation mob? I don't feel shame at all. I still ask for the Gospel to be shared in Christian love. However, I am only one person and have only one opinion. Love In Christ, Tom

Welcome to Christians Unite.
I tried to look at the prayer request link you have in your first post here. My firewall went crazy, and I couldn't get the page to load. I'm not sure what that means yet.
