Butcha,

I don't know how much more will be done or when. I'm tired, and I'm taking a few days off.

Love,
Tom

Oklahoma Howdy to Bronzesnake,

Brother, your love is obvious in trying to help bds, but he is one of the party goers here with a fairly large group. We were the entertainment, and he is gone, along with other identities. There may yet be others involving hacking, spoofed accounts, and an unknown number of people here to laugh at us.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Thanks for the laughs.

I'm hoping there will be more specific information to post soon about the war here. It isn't over yet, and I really can't say more. I will simply say it will be surprising and something nobody probably considered. The news may have to come from ADMIN. In the meantime, please have some patience.

I'm praying that peace is restored  soon.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Ollie,

I haven't heard from Symphony either. I know there were some major tasks in Symphony's city in the works. It involved being a Christian activist and doing some things that have been a matter of thought and prayer for a long time. I pray for Symphony every day and am not aware of any illness or anything other than the Christian work I mentioned.

Tom

Oklahoma Howdy to Evangelinux,

WELCOME!  Thanks for the link. I just came from there and really enjoyed it. I'm not a Linux person, but I did offer to help the site with graphics. I'm very happy to hear about Christians joining together to help churches with low or no cost software. Churches have much better things to do with the Lord's money than make software giants richer. God Bless You!

I don't know how many Linux experts we have on the forum, but I bet you will get some more help here. Jump in and enjoy the forum.

BEP I found a program similar to Open Office, its called........ 602PC Suite 4.0, it works as good as MS Office. Grin
And a whole lot smaller 24.2 MB. Grin

Oklahoma Howdy to DreamWeaver,

Yes, I've heard of that. I understand about Open Office being a big download. However, I just paid $6.00 for shipping and handling to get a CD. It's amazing there are a bunch of programs that are completely free and excellent. That's because there are a bunch of great programmers out there who don't like the Microsoft monopoly and them being able to charge whatever they want for their products. Microsoft Office Pro is now about $500, so it's way out of my budget.

I'm glad that you found something free that you like.

Tom
57491  Welcome / About You! / Re:I Was In The Twilight Zone on: July 09, 2004, 06:33:11 PM
Every morning I wake up and find my children draped lovingly across my face (stinky diapers and all) I doubt that I'm in the Twilight Zone.  Nope.  This is far to real to be anything but reality.

Personally, I kinda liked trippin in the Zone myself!

Grin    Grin    Grin   Brother, you're killin' me. WOW! - I needed that laugh. You need something in the morning to prove that you are real, and your precious children are real.

Wanted to revive this thread.  Wink  Prayer is a powerful tool. "The prayer from a righteous man is very effective" Does anyone know where that's at in the bible? Huh

Oklahoma Howdy to Felix102,

Thanks Brother. I appreciate your effort here. I'm not sure what specific Scripture you may be talking about, but there are many Scriptures that speak of the power of prayer.

I'm convinced that I'm alive because of the power of prayer. I prayed and asked God to let me live long enough to finish raising my children, and I'm still here enjoying my grandchildren.

Dear Heavenly Father, we give thanks that everything works together for good for those who love you. Above all, we give thanks for the gift of your Son on the Cross. Our joy is knowing that Jesus walks with us in our daily lives. We pray for our brothers and sisters who are  ill or have other needs in their families. We ask that you give them peace and health if it is Your Will. Jesus, we ask for wisdom in seeking your will and following a path that would be most pleasing to you. We ask for guidance in serving you and helping the lost. We ask these things in the precious name of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour.   Amen

Oklahoma Howdy to Nancy,

You made many interesting and valid points. I guess that most people have mixed emotions about funerals. Some say that funerals are for the living, and others think that funerals are to brag about the deceased. I had an uncle who refused to attend funeral services, even the service for his wife. He was an old cowboy and was very private about his thoughts on funerals. I know that he grieved in complete privacy for almost a week after the death of his wife, and he never recovered.

I'm also thinking about many services I remember for children and how tragic they were. Some people think that a funeral service helps to bring closure to the fact that a loved one is no longer here.

I'm positive there are many other issues. For me, I will probably opt for a cheap casket and nothing but a Gospel Sermon.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Oklahoma Howdy to JudgeNot and Tibby,

Brothers, I feel better now, but I don't know which term I like the best, "dork or goober". UM???, Goober was one of my favorite characters on the Andy Griffith Show, so I'll be Goober.

Love,
Goober
57495  Theology / Bible Study / Re:Cremation on: July 07, 2004, 04:15:06 AM
Oklahoma Howdy to All,

My views on this issue are obviously formed by personal observations. Many in my family were or are ministers of the Gospel of God's Grace. So, the vast majority of funerals I've been to were for Christians, and the services were conducted by my family members. The ministers in my family would refuse to conduct a funeral service without the Gospel being given and God being glorified at the service.

A funeral for a Christian means a homecoming to Heaven for the departed. If the family members are Christians, they know it is a time of joy for their departed loved one. It's not ironic that the wishes of most Christians is to glorify God and give the Gospel at their funeral service. Maybe they are thinking about a lost family member, or maybe they are looking for one last excuse for the Good News to be given to someone coming to the service. I think that it is some of both. For Christians, it can be and should be a time of worship. If one person in that audience was drawn to Christ because of the services, that would be a matter of joy for everyone.

One could reverse the situation and say that the departed was lost. This is indeed a sad occasion. The Gospel being given would be the only thing that would be positive in a service like this.

I'm not condemning cremation, but I would say that a funeral service glorifying God and giving the Gospel could be considered to be a final effort to help the lost. I would have other emotions if the service was used to glorify the departed.

I hope this made some sense.

Love In Christ,
Tom
