Quote
We support full inclusion of gay and lesbian families in the life of our nation and seek equal
responsibilities, benefits, and protections for these families. In our country, marriage has been
defined at the state level for 200 years, and we believe it should continue to be defined there. We
repudiate President Bush's divisive effort to politicize the Constitution by pursuing a "Federal
Marriage Amendment." Our goal is to bring Americans together, not drive them apart.

We will defend the dignity of all Americans against those who would undermine it. Because we
believe in the privacy and equality of women, we stand proudly for a woman's right to choose,
consistent with Roe v. Wade, and regardless of her ability to pay. We stand firmly against
Republican efforts to undermine that right. At the same time, we strongly support family planning
and adoption incentives. Abortion should be safe, legal, and rare.

A Christian can not support the above quotes from the 2004 democratic platform.

Hello Becky,

I see that you are new to the forum, so WELCOME!!!!

For me as an individual and a Christian, I can't and won't accept the Democratic platform. I vote for the man or woman, not the party, but I can't tolerate the Democratic platform at all.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hello Digme,

You don't have a clue about the depth of my thoughts and the way I make decisions. You can only speak for yourself and how you make decisions.

You are most welcome to state whatever political opinion you wish, as long as it conforms to the Forum Rules. I, for one, will continue to make fun of Kerry. He has absolutely nothing that I respect or admire. If you wish to tell us how much you love and respect Kerry, go right ahead and do so. If you want to state why President Bush should not be elected, have at it. Just don't expect me to buy it or suggest that anyone with a brain cell in their head would come to the same conclusion you do. Further, a different conclusion than yours does NOT hint at shallow thinking, intellectual inferiority, or not looking at the issues. Feel free to make fun of me and anyone else you want to. You can also call all of us intellectual inferiors - just don't expect us to buy it.

Love In Christ,
Tom

I believe there should be some reworded federal guide lines , so the states can not wander like "lost sheep". Don't let there be 50 different state laws.

Hello Brother Talmadge,

I think there would be several schools of thought on that issue. The first school of thought would involve what the Constitution allows in terms of the Federal Government telling the states what to do. The Federal Government is supposed to be the servant of the States.

Another school of thought involves the Federal Government dictating something that is immoral and against the teachings of the Holy Bible to the States. They could do just that, even though we don't expect them to. It appears that the House and the Senate have taken this issue on because of rogue, activist Federal Judges who are actually trying to make law and force immorality down our throats. I would have never dreamed that gay and lesbian marriage would become a national debate. I'm also shocked that the Democratic Party has made this immorality part of their platform.

The real boss in America is supposed to be the people, and the people are beginning to stand up. There is currently a huge problem about who is in charge in America, and that question must be answered. The answer is supposed to be the people, not our servants we elect or appoint to represent us. The people will not tolerate gay and lesbian marriages, and they've already spoken in an overwhelming manner in several States. Many other States already have voting scheduled to address the same issue. However, Federal Judges have already ruled that the vote of the people is Unconstitutional and void of any meaning. We, the people, will send a message to these Federal Judges - they are our servants, not our rulers. If our other servants and representatives don't understand this most basic rule, we will also remind them they are simply our servants.

Tom

i want to ask you how old you are, and my other question is do you really want to discuss this with an open heart, or am i going to waste my breathe and time by writing? i would like an answer for what was written as a response i thought was a bit shallow and not well-thought.  I wonder what you are thinking, for INTENT WILL ALWAYS PRECEDE CONTENT....

Hello Digme,

If you are asking me, I'm in my late 50s. How old are you? You've already refereed to me as an old dog who can't be taught new tricks. I would simply say   Grin.

There is nothing Holy about the UN, so mockery doesn't apply. In fact, the UN is the opposite of Holy. Folks are most welcome to form whatever opinion they wish, and many are undecided. Undecided or not, most Americans are very concerned about the corruption of the UN, who pays the bills, and which members come close to do what the UN was formed to do.

There are also many people who have not decided how they will vote in the Presidential elections. I have decided who I will vote for - George W. Bush. I am a very informed voter, but you imply that I must have made up my mind in an old dog, close-minded manner. I guess that your way of thinking would conclude I had to be an old dog, close-minded person to choose George W. Bush. This is America and you can form whatever opinion you wish about me and any subject you choose to form an opinion about.

I'm a Christian, so all of my decisions are heavily influenced by morals and Biblical values. As an individual, I will not be changing the way I make decisions. I took a hard look at the Constitution Party for that very reason. If part of their platform were changed and I thought they had a chance, I would seriously consider the Constitution Party. The President can't get anything done without "Yes" votes in the House and the Senate. This would be a very serious problem for the Constitution Party and was part of my decision to vote for George W. Bush. Other than some platform changes, I would love to see Constitution Party candidates in all political positions around the country.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Amen Brother Love!

I was just thinking about the Pharisees. I kept coming up with one thing that stuck in my mind:  Self-righteous pride before men. There is no irony that most of what they did was for themselves.

On the opposite side of the coin, I think about the precious GOOD NEWS. Jesus Died on the Cross for us, and we can yield to His Righteousness. That's GOOD because we don't have any righteousness. We are seen IN HIM and THROUGH HIM. That's also good because we have nothing that makes us acceptable to spend eternity with Him. We are left only with saying, "Thanks be unto God for His Unspeakable GIFT, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour forever." There is all GLORY to HIM and none for us. I give thanks that I don't have to place any trust in myself or any other man. We all fail and fall far short of the Glory of God. Part of the GOOD NEWS is that Jesus Christ never fails, always keeps His Promises, and is completely worthy for all of our trust and FAITH.

Our joy is FAITH IN JESUS!

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hello Seven,

First, WELCOME!!!! I see this is your first post.

It is true that you have to be very careful on some web sites. I give thanks that Christians Unite appears to be as safe as they come.

I use Norton Internet Security and Spybot Search and Destroy. They both use huge black-lists. Of course, quite a few are xxx related, but there are many thousands of them. The Spybot black-list is probably in the hundreds. I'm not sure exactly what kind of black-list you are talking about. Some are geared for:

Very dangerous web sites,
Destructive downloads,
Virus, trojan, hijack, exploit,
xxx garbage,
pop-ups,
advertising
child-safe surfing,
etc.

I think that one could easily wind up with 200,000 entries or more if you tried to address all of that. However, that would be using wild-cards to cover many sites. If you didn't use wild-cards, it could easily be over a million. I have one limited in scope, mainly for the dangerous stuff and the xxx garbage. It has 6,000 entries. I don't have it installed any more, but I do use the smaller list from Spybot and a fairly large list from Norton. It depends on how you set them up. It can really slow things down and cause errors if you use the massive lists and you don't have a monster machine.

Could you give us an idea about what the list you have is designed to do? If it's massive, maybe a link can be posted, or several links for lists of various purposes and sizes.

Tom

Digme,

You're welcome to whatever opinion you wish, but so am I. I'm not going to change my opinion about the UN or who I will vote for in the Presidential race. I think it would be a huge mistake to ever have a vote about the UN because it would be replaced by a pig farm. We can simply agree to disagree.

The UN is corrupt to the core, and we only have a few real allies in the whole mess. The US and those few allies pay the bills and carry the load, especially when there is something difficult to do. The vast majority of the UN is nothing but fair weather friends who would stab you in the back for 10 cents, and they have. I would guess about 70% of the US population feels the same way, and they are also welcome to form their own opinions.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Ephesians 2:6  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Man is very lowly and evil without Jesus Christ. However, those of us who have Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour over our lives are seen IN HIM. We did nothing to raise ourselves up to be worthy of His Love, nor could we. Jesus raised us up and made us worthy, not us. I think of a beautiful comparison that goes perfectly with Ephesians 2:6:

Colossians 3:1  If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

The completed work of Jesus Christ on the Cross is the work that raises us up to become worthy, NOT our work. Just as Jesus arose from the dead after crucifixion, we arise from the dead after we accept HIM as Lord and Saviour. Our faith must be in the finished work of Jesus Christ and IN HIM ALONE. Faith in ourselves or other men is worthless. Jesus is the only One who makes us worthy to spend eternity with HIM. We should show Jesus our love and appreciation for saving us from sin and eternal destruction. We can do that by seeking HIS truth and letting HIM use us for HIS glory. The more we yield to HIM - the greater our joy.

Hello Sulfurdolphin,

You asked for opinions, but I'm very shy about the UN. I think that the buildings used by the UN would be much better used as pig farms. Something good would come of it, and they already have an abundant supply of slop there.   Grin

I don't think the UN should be in charge of anything, much less our security or elections. As an American, I would state very shyly that I want them out of our business completely. Further, I wouldn't trust them to be in charge of the pig farm at the previously used UN buildings. Maybe I can study the issues some more and come up with a firm opinion of some sort.   Grin

AMEN JOSHUA!!

Thanks brother, that was a beautiful message. It's hard to imagine HIS amazing Grace and Love in humbling Himself, taking the lowly form of a man, and dying on a Cross for us. HE finished His work, arose from the dead, and is our LIVING Lord and Saviour. YES!!!, Jesus Christ is Very God, THE CREATOR!

Just a breath from HIS mouth could have destroyed the world and all in it, but that was not His plan and purpose. He did the opposite and suffered a most horrible death, bearing in His own body the pain and punishment that should have been given to us. This is the most precious event in the history of mankind. AND, HE did it for unworthy wretches who didn't deserve anything, like me.

2nd Timothy,

Grin  Brother, maybe the stock for Kentucky Fried Chicken will soar now. I'm not supposed to have anything fried on my diet, but I am allowed to cheat once in a while. When I do, KFC is on the list.   Cheesy

56924  Entertainment / Politics and Political Issues / Re:One more reason to vote for Bush!! on: October 07, 2004, 06:15:10 PM
Evangelist,

Brother, I think that I know why the mainstream news picks and chooses what they do. They are ultra liberal and would hate to see George Bush remain as President of the United States. George Bush represents everything they hate, so they are either omitting news that would be positive for George Bush, or they are grossly distorting what has the potential to be negative. It's unbearable for them to have a Christian in the White House, especially one who has taken a stand for Biblical teachings (i.e. anti-abortion, anti-same sex marriage, prayer, the mere mention of Jesus Christ, preservation of traditional American values that are most definitely Christian).

Love In Christ,
Tom
