56776  Fellowship / For Men Only / Re:Sexual Immorality on: October 24, 2004, 03:01:33 PM
AMEN BROTHERS AND SISTERS!

I especially like the beautiful portion of Scripture that Macramepoet quoted:

8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

There are no perfect Christians, and there are no Christians without sin. We do have a Lord and Saviour who will forgive us, lift us up, and give us Grace to try again. He knows that we are weak and human, and He knows that we will stumble. It hurts HIM when we sin, but that does not mean that He removes our Salvation or stops loving us. He loves to hear our prayers, and He loves to hear us pray for forgiveness. HIS GRACE, LOVE, AND FORGIVENESS is GREAT, more than sufficient for all of us.

Christians must struggle with sin and  temptation every day. We are to live a testimony that is pleasing to HIM. With each day of struggle and prayer, He gives us more Grace and Love for the struggle. He hasn't removed us from the presence of sin yet, but HE will one day. HE hasn't perfected us or given us a glorified body during this short life on earth, but HE will one day. We are to fight a good fight and run a good race during this short life. Our daily fellowship with HIM should obviously include prayer for forgiveness, Grace for the fight, strength for the fight, and guidance for the fight. The more we pray and yield, the stronger HE will make us. The same is true for our increasing joy in HIM.

Love In Christ,
Tom

AMEN ONEBOOK!!!

You gave excellent advice.

There are no perfect men and women. God will forgive us, but that doesn't mean that HE's happy when we commit sin. I give thanks that God will forgive us, lift us up, and give us the Grace to try again. If HE didn't, we would all be lost.

Onebook, I can't add to your post, as you covered nearly all of the ways to combat this problem. I would say that the most important way you listed is to pray and to keep praying that God will grant the Grace and strength to overcome. Every Christian struggles daily to live a testimony that would be pleasing to HIM. Our struggle and prayer is exactly what Christians are supposed to do until Jesus takes us home, perfects us, removes us from the presence of sin, and gives us glorified bodies. We are to fight a good fight and run a good race during this short life on earth. The more we yield to HIM, the stronger HE will make us. The harder we try, the greater our joy will be in HIM.

Robert, we can also pray for each other, and I will be praying for you.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Lilith originated with an outcast sect of Hebrews. She was supposedly an evil goddess, a fallen angel and the first wife of Adam. Talk about blasphemy! Putting her name in the Word of God is definitely that! The NSRV (New Standard Revised Version)is used by some pagans. Definitely a book (I refuse to call it a Bible) to stay clear of.

Brother, that's sick and disgusting. I'm not familiar with the NSRV, but I won't bother. I do have several versions that I use for side-by-side comparisons from time to time. Some are fairly good part of the time, and some are bad quite often.

I really don't like the idea that lost people and babes in Christs many times get terribly confused with some of the newer translations. Some might say that it's OK if it helps to bring someone to Christ. I'll be happy to be called an old square, but I firmly believe what's called a Bible matters greatly. An older and stronger Christian might easily recognize distorted or omitted text, but the same would not be true for the lost and the babes. Men already create enough confusion without corrupt texts.

Tim,

Again, we can agree to disagree. The Federal Courts have already stuck their noses into these issues. The long-term answers must involve separation of power and our representatives cutting the legs off of the Federal Judges' thrones.

If you don't agree, fine. We each have one vote at the polls.

There is no relationship between the two quotes.

Tim,

Many paid with their lives for the freedoms you enjoy, including the freedom to worship God. Freedom is precious, and someone always pays for it. We will lose our freedoms if we ever have a shortage of courageous people who are willing to fight for it, and maybe even die for it.

We can agree to disagree. I'll simply give thanks to those who have paid for and preserved our freedoms, especially the freedom to worship God. I pray for our men and women of courage serving our country every day, and my son is one of them.

To Pastor Roger - Brother, thank you sincerely for serving our country.

Pastor Roger,

Brother, if I remember correctly, "Lilith" is a mythical queen of demons. I only know that because of trying to investigate some messages of a recently banned user named "Ha Lilith".

WOW!, the differences you just quoted between two different versions are worlds apart.

I have used a few other versions for study, but my Bible is the Old KJV.

When you see the word "Rightly Divided" in relationship to Biblical interpretation, it is a red flag warning for the Dispensational heresy. The Scofield Reference Bible is the best known proponant of this dangerous teaching. Someone wrote a song about it to the tune of "My hope is built on nothing less"

Tim,

We can agree to disagree, and I think you are completely wrong. Anyone wishing to get beyond being a baby Christian must learn how to "rightly divide the Word of Truth". It's not a matter of ignoring even a single Scripture of the Bible, rather a matter of understanding the speaker, the audience, the purpose, how it applied, and when it applied.

Here's a couple of easy examples for you:

Adulterers were stoned to death.

Children who didn't learn to honor their father and mother before age 18 were stoned to death.

Gentiles (that's us) are unclean heathen, and it is forbidden to associate with us or be with us.

There are thousands more, but you will be fine if you make proper burnt offerings at the right time, way, and place.   Cheesy

Anyone can misuse and and confuse the Holy Bible without a single word of commentary. There is no heresy with the use of a Scofield Reference Bible, but there might be some heresy with the user or the user's results. There are no perfect commentaries or Bible study aids. That's why the Holy Bible is and should be the primary source of truth and study. That's also why the Old King James Version of the Holy Bible should be used.

Tom, that e-Sword looks great, are you sure it is safe to download? Have you downloaded it to your hard drive?

Thanks

Tim,

It's completely safe, and I've been using it for years on various operating systems. I currently use it on XP PRO, and it works flawlessly. It's every bit as good as many very expensive Bible Study packages, and it's FREE. I have it running in the background right now and most of every day.

You cannot lose salvation in this age but you only find that information in the Pauline epistles.

FALSE TEACHING!

Salvation is not a matter of gaining or losing.

Salvation is a result....of not committing sin.

Matthew 1:21   "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall [save] his people [from] their sins".

1 John 3:9   "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God".

Silver Surfer,

You shouldn't quote isolated Bible Verses, especially if you don't have a clue what they mean. Your teaching is false.

Pastor Roger, Brother Love, and Jemidon2004,

AMEN BROTHERS!!

The Gospel of the Grace of God is about Jesus, the Cross, and HIS GIFT GOD has given us. I give thanks that it isn't about my goodness, my righteousness, my works, my deeds, or anything else so unworthy that I may have done.

The obedience of Jesus Christ unto death, HIS SACRIFICE, HIS WORK, and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS is what gives me 100% assurance of Salvation. That's the only way a man or woman can be saved, and I give thanks for His Unspeakable GIFT. I could never pay for or earn such a GIFT, so I will humbly take His Gift and praise HIM for the rest of my life.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Silver Surfer Said:

Yes to break any of the commandments is sin, which results in eternal death, (Romans 6:23)

Silver Surfer,

Over and over again you do FALSE TEACHING! You are so brain-washed by Ellen G. White that you are completely blind to the most precious truths of the Holy Bible.

Your teaching is completely false. You don't and can't do anything to save yourself. Jesus Christ is a GIFT from God, and the Sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross for us was a gift. There are no men of righteousness. There are no men without sin. Further, there are no Christians without sin. It makes me very sad to know that many lost people will be reading your false teaching. It also makes me sad to know that some babes in Christ will be confused with your false teaching.

Here's a little hint for you:  Christians WILL NOT be given perfection or glorified bodies during this short life on earth. Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, is PERFECT and RIGHTEOUS, but we ARE NOT. Christians are to struggle every day to live Godly lives, but we will fail over and over again during this short life. When we stumble, we have a Lord and Saviour who will forgive us, lift us up, and give us the Grace to try again. Sin does not cancel Salvation. Salvation is a GIFT from God for those who place their trust and faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.  It is a GIFT, and it involves many beautiful Promises of God to HIS children. God always keeps HIS Promises. A new child of God is "quickened" or translated into the Mighty Hands of Jesus, and no power in Heaven or earth can pluck them out of HIS HAND. A new child of God receives the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit SEALS the heart of God's new child. In fact, the HOLY SPIRIT enters the heart of the new child of God and sets him or her apart as BELONGING TO GOD. No power in Heaven or earth can break the SEAL of the HOLY SPIRIT. The new child of God was bought and paid for by the BLOOD OF JESUS. The new child of God is now a purchased possession of Jesus Christ forever.

There is no installment plan for Salvation, as Salvation is a GIFT from God, full and FREE. No man can pay for it, and no man can earn it. Man can't miss a payment because there is NO PAYMENT. Jesus Christ finished the work on the Cross and paid in FULL WITH HIS BLOOD. A man has nothing to add to the PERFECT SACRIFICE OF JESUS CHRIST on the Cross. We can and should love HIM with all of our heart and live a life of appreciation for HIS GIFT. If we work for HIM as a duty, those works will be burned up and worthless. If we work for HIM in joy and love, HE will accept our work and call it "good". If we don't work for HIM, that would be a poor testimony before men, but God does not take back HIS free GIFT of Salvation. Our Salvation is "not of works" or deeds of the law, rather a GIFT from God. A Christian in a coma is still a Christian. A Christian with Alzheimer's or insanity is still a Christian. A Christian who stumbles and commits a sin is still a Christian. Many have posted the Scripture proofs of what I just said above, but you ignored them.

Romans 5:15  But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
Romans 5:16  And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
Romans 5:17  For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
Romans 5:18  Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

2 Corinthians 9:15  Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Ephesians 2:4  But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Ephesians 2:5  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Ephesians 2:6  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Ephesians 2:7  That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Ephesians 2:9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Silver Surfer, your teaching is false, and you don't honor the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross with your words. You preach self-righteousness and self-perfection instead of the Cross. You teach works and obedience of the Law instead of the Gospel of the Grace of God. Your teaching is hurting the lost and confusing the babes in Christ. Your teaching will be labeled as FALSE, and some of it will be deleted from Christians Unite.

Silver Surfer, with what you teach, no man would be saved. BUT, what you teach does NOT resemble the Gospel of the Grace of God. With what you teach, no man would ever have any assurance of Salvation, but what you teach is false. You want to teach that Salvation is the work and righteousness of men, but that is FALSE. Salvation is the work and righteousness of Jesus Christ, not men. Our Salvation in Jesus Christ is 100% certain, only because it is NOT our works, obedience of the Law, or our righteousness involved at all. The one sin and you're out doctrine you preach is of the devil, not God. Silver, you most obviously and definitely sin, so under your doctrine Christ would have to be crucified again and again for you to be Saved. However, what you teach is false. Jesus Christ died on the Cross for us, and HIS Sacrifice was perfect.

Silver, you will never find self-righteousness because it doesn't exist. It is far past time for you to yield to the righteousness of Jesus Christ and have 100% assurance of Salvation. Your assurance of Salvation will be in Jesus, not yourself.

Remember that anything you do for God as a duty will be burned up and worthless. If you do something for God in love, joy, and appreciation, God will call it "good". If you spend eternity with Jesus, it will be because of HIS WORK, HIS OBEDIENCE, and HIS SACRIFICE - not yours.

Redemption, forgiveness, sanctification, and Salvation are HIS WORKS - not yours.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Tim Vaughn,

We are no longer under the Law of Moses, rather the Gospel of the Grace of God. We look to Jesus and the CROSS, not Moses. Jesus and the Cross makes it possible for us to rest in Jesus every second of every day. One must read and understand the writings of the Apostle Paul to understand the reality of Jesus and the Cross, but the below will give you a start.

(Matthew 22:36)  Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
(Matthew 22:37)  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
(Matthew 22:38)  This is the first and great commandment.
(Matthew 22:39)  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
(Matthew 22:40)  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Our Sabbath Rest is Jesus Christ, our Living LORD and Saviour. HE is LORD over all days, all hours, all minutes, and all seconds.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Brothers and Sisters,

There is only one unpardonable sin:

REJECTING JESUS CHRIST AS LORD!

The Law of Faith in Jesus Christ sets us free from the curse of sin and death.

You said "two thumbs down", but from what I've read from you, I doubt you even understood the post. The person how claims to be a pastor suprises me though. I hope he will explain what his objections are rather than running away.

Tim, it's really very simple. Jesus Christ is our Sabbath Rest. The Sabbath under the Law was a shadow of things to come. The shadow was replaced by reality, the reality of Jesus Christ as the perfect Sacrifice on the Cross for us.

We don't have to make an appointment to worship Jesus, nor do we need a Levite Priest to pray for us or help us worship Jesus. Christians can worship and pray to Jesus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Jesus Christ finished the work of Salvation, and Jesus Christ is our Sabbath Rest. HE lives in us, and we live in HIM. HE goes with us, and we go with HIM 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

We are no longer under the Law of Moses, rather the Gospel of the Grace of God. We don't have to wait until Saturday, Sunday, or any other day of the week to worship or pray. HE is with us, and we are with HIM every step of every day. That's the rest, comfort, peace, and joy of being in Jesus.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Hello Pam4Him,

Sister Pam, thank you sincerely for sharing your testimony with us. I love to hear how God works, even through illness and pain. Many of us have had serious illness, including me. It was during those times that I was closest to Jesus and grew stronger in HIM. I am left with nothing but thanks and more thanks to Jesus for being with me every step of the way. I especially give thanks that our hope and joy for eternity is not in these weak and sickly bodies of clay.

In short, I simply love to say:

KEEP LOOKING UP!

and

THANKS BE UNTO GOD FOR HIS UNSPEAKABLE GIFT!

Sister, I look forward to reading your posts.

Love In Christ,
Tom
