2nd Timothy Said:

Amen BEP, I agree completely.  Jesus Christ is our rest and sabbath, and there is no condemnation for those that in that rest.  This sabbath keeping business is getting rather tiring though....

Grace and Peace!

Brother,

Yes, it is tiring and sad. It's a smoke screen that effectively gets some peoples' eyes off of Jesus and onto themselves. What goes with it is also very sad: Going about trying to establish self-righteousness instead of yielding to the righteousness of Jesus Christ. It goes on and on to varying degrees, much denying Jesus Christ and the Cross.

me, me, me
NO! - Jesus Christ!

my righteousness
NO! - The Righteousness of Jesus Christ!

my works
NO! - The Works of Jesus Christ!

Our faith in Jesus Christ is accounted unto us as righteousness. That's a good thing since we have none of our own. We live under the Grace and Love of God - not the Law. If one wants to holler about the law, there is one that we should most definitely be hollering about:

The Law of Faith in Jesus Christ has set us free from the curse of sin and death!

Love In Christ,
Tom

AMEN BROTHER RAPHU!!

I give thanks for the perfect Sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross for us. I also give thanks that we can yield to HIS Righteousness instead of going about trying to establish our own. In short:

Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable GIFT!

Brother Love,

I'm almost sure that DreamWeaver mentioned somewhere that he had to fix his computer again. He said it was something small like lightning bolts on his motherboard.   Cheesy

He told me it would take several days to fix. It's really nothing funny to have problems with your computer. I've been there, done that, and have the t-shirt.

The law of love. Does that suit you or is my agreeing with everone or the scriptures given not enough? If you want to teach something, please go ahead and do so. I'm all ears.

Brother,

He already has, over and over again to the point of nausea. Let me summarize for you and save some time:

1 - You must be perfect and not sin. Sin results in you losing your Salvation.

2 - People who attend church services on Sunday are the devil's work and bear the mark of the beast.

3 - Salvation is by works and obedience of the Law, not Grace and not a Gift. Oh, and Salvation is probational, lost with any sin.

There, you have it in a nutshell, all 110 posts and 30 that were deleted. One might add the great importance of false prophetess Ellen G. White who is a driving force and quoted often. In fact, her volumes for some are more important than the Holy Bible. That's probably the case with Silver Surfer.

Brother, please don't ask him to spew this false teaching again. We're still nauseated with the last round.

Brothers and Sisters,

This is really a very foolish matter to contend over. Born again believers are already IN JESUS, Members of His Body, the CHURCH WHICH IS THE BODY OF CHRIST. Any mature Christian knows this. I could care less about what day of the week it is now, OR what day of the week it was 2500 years ago. I could care less what a Rabbi or a Levite Priest would have to say about the matter, and I certainly don't need a calendar. It would make absolutely no difference at all if a Christian never looked at a calendar again and didn't have a clue what day of the week it was.

Jesus Christ is LORD over all days, we are in HIM, and HE is in us. Here's a clue for those of you who are mired in the law: our heart is HIS Temple. HIS Holy Spirit is ALIVE in us, and we are ALIVE in Jesus. Forget about the sun, the moon, and the stars - a born again Christian blind and in a coma has entered our Sabbath Rest, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour forever. Stop worrying about born again Christians in your family who have Alzheimer's, had strokes, or otherwise lost their mental faculties. They are fine - safe and secure in the mighty hand of Jesus. Here's a final hint:  The Sabbath is Jesus Christ - Not a day.

Love In Christ,
Tom

God bless you and keep you well.  That is wonderful news.

Karen

Wantobebetter,

Thanks!, I appreciate that. I do have a broken body, but I know that God doesn't plan for me to use it long. God has been good to me and my family. I have nothing but praise for God, and I'm happy and waiting for whatever He has for me. Our days here are short, and I give thanks that our real citizenship is in Heaven. Tomorrow doesn't make much difference, just as long as it's with Jesus.

Same thing with legal "abortions", which have been on the books for some 30 years now.....NO PRESIDENT, regardless his personal conviction, is going to go against the laws of our land, and attempt to overthrow those laws....not even your beloved George Bush.....He's already proven that!, and so have the others before him.

FayeC,

I guess that you don't read the news. George Bush tried and he's still trying. In fact, he almost got something done, and the momentum is growing. George Bush has done 100 times more to end abortion than all other presidents combined since Roe vs. Wade.

On the other side of the coin, Kerry states he will never appoint a judge who will touch Roe vs. Wade. In reality, Bush has morals and Kerry doesn't. However, it takes considerable support in the House and Senate to get major and controversial things like that done. By the way, Bush did come close, but Kerry promises the opposite of trying to do anything about abortion. Kerry promises to protect it for future generations. So, let's get real.

The only morals Kerry has is play acting at the last minute because he now knows that he needs some Christians to vote for him. The acting was extremely poor. I wouldn't vote for Kerry for dog catcher, much less President of the United States. I'm sorry to be so shy about Kerry. If I keep working on it, I might develop a solid opinion by the time to vote.   Grin

Grin  Brother Ralf, I didn't mention any specific group for a pretty good reason:  I wouldn't know anything about the new groups. Most of the music I listen to was popular in the 40s, 50s, and 60s.   Grin

My kids are all grown, and I have grandchildren, so I don't have to worry about music in my home any longer. I did worry about music when my kids were in their teenage years. I didn't allow the homicide, suicide, cursing, and dirty stuff in the house. I couldn't put a name with any of that stuff if I tried. By the way, I didn't force my kids to listen to my music.   Grin  They did listen to their own music, just not stuff like I mentioned above. I know it would have been torture to make them listen to my music.   Grin

Allinall,

Brother, I'm glad your group had fun on the retreat. It sounds like you had a precious time in His Word. The subject matter is important to all of us, specifically because our attitude can bring us closer to Jesus and increase our fellowship with His children.

I'll be glad when this election is over, but I read about thousands of lawyers lined up for a brawl. Who knows when it will be over? I think this is a time to pray for our country, that what Godly traditions and freedoms we have left will be preserved.

Amendment Votes Indicative of Nationwide Surge to Protect Marriage?

by Bill Fancher and Jody Brown
October 22, 2004

(AgapePress) - Many of the nation's religious leaders believe the fight to protect traditional marriage has awakened the Evangelical church. One pro-family group takes it even further, applauding Americans as a whole for "boldly resisting attacks on the sanctity of marriage" over the last year.

For the second week in a row, thousands of Christians crowded onto the National Mall in the nation's capital to demonstrate their support for marriage and their concerns for the direction in which the nation is headed. Family Research Council president Tony Perkins sees the rallies as an indication that the Christian community is waking up to its duty.

"A year ago, it looked like there was no counter effort being made to those that were trying to redefine the institution of marriage," Perkins says, referring to events last November in Massachusetts. "But in the last six months we've seen a massive effort driven by just the average American who cares deeply about this country and about the future of family, which hinges upon the future of marriage."

Perkins says churches are mobilizing their congregations to vote the values they profess. By the time the upcoming election is over, 13 states will have voted on constitutional amendments limiting marriage to one man and one woman. Two of those states -- Missouri and Louisiana -- have already approved amendments in decisive fashion. According to recent polls, referendums in the other 11 states will also pass.

Bob Knight
"Even in Oregon, where homosexual activist groups have poured in thousands of dollars to subvert the amendment, polls show that Oregonians want to preserve the ages-old definition of marriage," say Bob Knight of the Culture and Family Institute. Those citizens, he says, along with those of other states "realize that their defense of marriage will affect generations to come."

Jan LaRue, chief counsel for Concerned Women for America, concurs. She says much has happened on the marriage front since the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court voted 4-3 the legalize same-sex "marriage."

"As the one-year anniversary of [that] landmark ruling approaches, it is clear that concern for protecting the institution of marriage has energized Americans across the country to thwart the new tide of moral perversion that same-sex marriage represents," LaRue says.

'Ayes' Victorious in Buckeye State
Marriage traditionalists in Ohio received good news yesterday when that state's highest court rejected a request from homosexual-rights groups to prohibit "Issue 1" -- the Marriage Protection Amendment -- from appearing on the November 2 ballot. More than half-a-million Ohio residents had signed petitions to put the issue before the voters.

Phil Burress is chairman of the Ohio Campaign to Protect Marriage, the group that had coordinated the gathering of signatures. Understandably, he is pleased by the court's 6-1 ruling.

"In these days of judicial tyranny, it seems like anything can happen in our court systems," Burress says. That is likely why he is still sounding a note of caution. He says he still worries about "misinformation and outright lies" being circulated by those opposed to the amendment.

"We know that those who want to undermine marriage in our society will stoop to anything to win," he says. "We saw it in this case and we'll see it in their campaign all the way up to November 2. We just hope and believe the Ohioans will see through the rhetoric and vote what they know is right."

Two dozen state legislators have signed on in support of Issue 1. A press release listing those Ohio lawmakers says they "believe in the sanctity of marriage" and felt it was time to "stand up for traditional values and to recommit to the goal of building healthy marriages and strong families."

Despite Teresa Kerry's Comments, Mothering a 'Real Job,' Say Family Advocates

by Jody Brown
October 22, 2004

(AgapePress) - So -- how telling are Teresa Heinz Kerry's remarks on Wednesday about First Lady Laura Bush? At least one conservative leader says it is during such "unscripted moments" that the Kerrys' real values shine through. The First Lady, however, seems to be willing to give Mrs. Kerry a pass.

The John Kerry campaign went into the "damage control" mode following comments by the Democratic presidential candidate's wife when she was asked about the differences between herself and First Lady Laura Bush.

"Well, you know, I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good," Heinz Kerry told USA Today. "But I don't know that she's ever had a real job -- I mean, since she's been grown up. So her experience and her validation comes from important things, but different things.

"And I'm older, and my validation of what I do and what I believe and my experience is a little big bigger -- because I'm older, and I've had different experiences. And it's not a criticism of her. It's just, you know, what life is about."

Following the furor over her remarks -- published on Wednesday -- Heinz Kerry apologized for questioning whether Laura Bush, mother of twin daughters, ever had a "real job."

"I had forgotten that Mrs. Bush had worked as a schoolteacher and librarian, and there couldn't be a more important job than teaching our children," Heinz Kerry said in a statement. "As someone who has been both a full-time mom and full-time in the workforce, I know we all have valuable experiences that shape who we are. I appreciate and honor Mrs. Bush's service to the country as First Lady, and am sincerely sorry I had not remembered her important work in the past."

A Bush campaign advisor called Mrs. Kerry's remarks "inappropriate" -- and told CNN that the subsequent apology really did not clear things up. "I think it's very nice that she apologized, but in some ways the apology almost made the comment worse because she seems to have forgotten that being a mother is a real job," said Karen Hughes. "I think it's just unfortunate to try to disparage women who have made the choice of making their families a priority."

The president's campaign also issued a statement saying that "staying home, working from home and raising children is not only hard work, but that's a real job also."

However, at a campaign stop in New Hampshire on Thursday, Laura Bush took Mrs. Kerry's comments in stride, telling reporters "she didn't even really need to apologize. I know how tough it is and I actually know those trick questions."

A Kerry campaign spokesman seemed to echo similar sentiments, telling "Fox & Friends" that after long days on the campaign trail, "things come out that you wouldn't have ordinarily said." The aide added that Mrs. Kerry's intention was to sincerely apologize and to convey absolute respect for what the first lady has done and what she does.

Underlying Message?
But Gary Bauer of the Campaign for Working Families (CWF) contends the real Teresa Heinz Kerry, who has three sons and two step-daughters, was revealed in the comments. Heinz Kerry, he says, "managed to insult stay-at-home mothers, librarians, and teachers."

Gary Bauer
"Where I come from," Bauer adds, "the job of mothering is the most important job in the world!"

Bauer, a former GOP presidential candidate, says he detects politics playing a role in the apology issued by Mrs. Kerry, pointing out the Kerry campaign has been "very astute" in presenting the candidate and his wife as moderate or even conservative. Kerry, Bauer notes, claims he will balance the budget, precedes each comment on abortion by reiterating his respect for the sanctity of life, and says he believes marriage is the union of one man and one woman.

"But in the unscripted moments, their real values break through," Bauer says, "such as in the third presidential debate when John praised husbands who leave their wives for other men, and Teresa's instinctive disdain for mothering as not a 'real job.'"

According to the CWF chairman, such comments from the Kerrys could not make the choice on Election Day "more stark."

Another pro-family group says Teresa Heinz Kerry took a "swing at stay-at-home moms" with her comments, providing -- as alluded to by Bauer -- insight into the "stark contrast" between the wives of the presidential candidates.

Dr. Janice Crouse, speaking on behalf of the Concerned Women for American Legislative Action Committee, says Mrs. Kerry's remarks "indicate disapproval of those American women who sacrifice a career and all of its benefits in order to care for and train their children at home" -- adding that a potential first lady should not "demean" women who make that choice. And as for the apology?

Tony Perkins
"[The] apology only reinforced the ideology implicit in her original comments," Crouse says. "[It] was based on Mrs. Bush's employment as a teacher and librarian, rather than her lifetime investment in raising her two daughters. She appeals to feminist myths, while insulting the majority of American women."

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, says by failing in her apology to recognize the importance of mom Laura Bush in the lives of daughters Jenna and Barbara, Heinz Kerry "only dug the hold deeper."

An apology, Perkins says, cannot erase what he sees as the underlying message in the furor: "Stay-at-home moms and traditional families would not be respected by a Kerry administration."

Media Watchdog Warns GOP Against Letting Up in Final Stretch

by Chad Groening
October 22, 2004

(AgapePress) - As the 2004 presidential campaign moves into its final stages, one media expert says the liberal media is likely to keep hammering out its anti-Bush bias, relentlessly, all the way up to election day.

Tim Graham is the director of media research analysis for the Alexandria, Virginia-based Media Research Center. He believes George W. Bush, if he truly hopes to be re-elected, will have to overcome not only John Kerry but also the liberal media as well.

"I think obviously it's in the interest of Bush and the Republicans to run scared every day on these issues," Graham says, "and to keep pounding their message. The problem you're going to have there, of course, is the liberal media's going to pound their anti-Bush message all the way alongside them."

The media analyst suspects some Republicans may be a bit too relaxed, perhaps because they are thinking about 1980, when Ronald Reagan pulled off a landslide victory in a race the polls predicted would be a close one. "You'll remember that late in the 1980 campaign, it was seen as a very even race and ended up breaking for Reagan in a dramatic way," Graham notes. "I'm sure that Republicans like the idea even though Reagan was the challenger then and Bush is the incumbent [now]."

The media watchdog says certainly some Republicans are enamored of the idea "that somehow Bush is going to reopen that six- or seven- or eight-point lead and just take it home," but he warns, "We can't predict that."

Graham says Republicans must not forget what happened to Bush four years ago, when news of a 1970s DUI arrest broke just days before the election. "The Democrats at the last minute sprung this whole 'nonpartisan' attack about George W. Bush's running under the 'intoxication ticket' in the mid-70s in Maine, where he was driving around at the dangerous speed of 20 miles an hour."

The MRC spokesman is advising the GOP not to be overconfident. Instead, Graham feels it would be in the best interests of the Republicans and the Bush campaign to stay cautious, be wary of possible last-minute Democratic strategies, and keep driving home their own message -- because, he says, that is what the liberal media will be doing.

Hello Sledgehammer,

I see this is your first post, so WELCOME!!!!

I say a big AMEN!! to what you posted. I would expand what you said to just about everything (i.e. movies, magazines, television, etc., etc.). A constant bombardment of evil desensitizes our distinction of right and wrong. If we allow the continuing bombardment, it will most definitely effect our morals, values, ethics, and eventually our thinking about the Holy Bible.

I think that a fairly good analogy is thinking of a human like a sophisticated computer - Garbage In - Garbage Out.

Matthew 22:36  Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Matthew 22:37  Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Matthew 22:38  This is the first and great commandment.
Matthew 22:39  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Matthew 22:40  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Romans 10:1  Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.
Romans 10:2  For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.
Romans 10:3  For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.
Romans 10:4  For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Romans 10:5  For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.
Romans 10:6  But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)
Romans 10:7  Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
Romans 10:8  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
Romans 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
