Like it or not, abortion will never be criminalized.  And even if it were to be, the amount of abortions would not decrease.  Just as an example, the sale of alcohol increased during prohibition.  You have to be very careful when using the criminal law.  If you criminalize abortion, black market abortion clinics will immediately pop up, and even if you are 100% pro-life, I am sure we can all agree that if abortions are to be performed, the safety of the mother should be paramount.

No, I wouldn't agree, and I doubt that many Christians would agree. I think that abortion is murder, and I think that it should be treated as such. The convenience and safety of the mother in killing her child is not a consideration at all. Comparing abortion to alcohol is comparing grapes to watermelons, even though alcohol was and is a plague on mankind. Yes, you guessed it, I think that prohibition of alcohol is quite reasonable. Legalization of something that is destructive and takes lives should not be done simply because people want to do it.

Hmmm, why not a faq for Christians.  Are you not interested why people openly reject Jesus and God?

No, we've all been there and done that at one time in our lives. This is a Christian forum, so we really aren't interested in giving the devil a pulpit or equal time.

I think you are all confused about another thing too. You are allowed to pray that Bush wins (had this been a month ago) to yourself or even amongst your families while in church. But the priest who is getting aid from a nuetral source cannot openly endorse one candidate.

He can, however, pray for the president of the United States. To make good descisions or what have you.

No, I think that you are confused, especially about what America was founded to be and what America was for over 200 years. It wasn't that long ago that the Holy Bible was a primary learning text in all public schools. After the founding of this country, nearly all states had laws that required all public officials to be Christians, including school teachers. Church services were held in all of the great public buildings in our capitol, and the first English printing of the Holy Bible was ordered by Congress for use in the public schools of our capitol.

Children learned their ABCs and reading from the Holy Bible and works based on the Holy Bible for almost 200 years. This country was founded as a Christian nation, and the founders intended it to stay that way.

We're not confused at all - you are.

56470  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Prophecy and End Time Series. - Israel on: November 24, 2004, 05:43:42 PM
DreamWeaver,

Brother, I'm reading more and more about persecution of Jews, but the same is true for Christians. There is a growing thought that Christians are ignorant, people to be ignored, even in America. France is not alone in the persecution of Jews. That appears to be almost a global problem, except in America. It should be painfully obvious that a lot of the hate against America is because of our support for Israel. As an individual, my support for Israel will not change. My primary reason is the Holy Bible and Bible prophecy that I know will be fulfilled. I've said this before, and I meant it: If I had to go to war involving Israel, I would be fighting on the side of Israel. It's true that they would need a wheelchair brigade for me to be much use.   Cheesy

So far, it is impossible to ignore Christians in America, and it is also impossible to silence us. However, that doesn't mean the devil will quit trying.

Love In Christ,
Tom
56471  Theology / General Theology / Re:The Gospel of the Kingdom of God on: November 24, 2004, 04:48:53 PM
Brother Ollie,

You asked an excellent question, one that causes tremendous confusion for hosts of people trying to study the Holy Bible.

The Kingdom of God and Christ are absolute reality. I belong to that Kingdom, and I am a member of the CHURCH WHICH IS THE BODY OF CHRIST. The Kingdom of God and Christ lives in my heart, and my citizenship is in Heaven with CHRIST.

Brother, there will be a physical 1,000 year rule of Christ on earth, and this should not be confused with the Kingdom of God or Christ. The Kingdom of God or Christ is already absolute reality. The 1,000 year rule of Christ on earth from the Throne of David is yet to come. This period of time is called the Millennial Kingdom, and the appointed time for it is after the Tribulation Period. This is a promise of God and is revealed in Bible prophecy. It will most definitely be fulfilled at God's appointed time.

There are a host of precious Scriptures that foretell of the Millennial Kingdom, but our Lord and Saviour is real RIGHT NOW! I don't count the Millennial Kingdom as part of my hope and joy in Christ, specifically because I already belong to Jesus and Jesus is in my heart. The reality of the Kingdom of God is absolute, RIGHT NOW! The reality of the Millennial Kingdom is yet to happen, but it will most certainly happen, just as the Holy Bible proclaims it.

Brother, I hope this helps some. This is certainly a topic that confuses many people. I would quickly proclaim that Jesus Christ is already the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. This is already ABSOLUTE REALITY for all Christians. There will come a day when our Lord and Saviour will physically rule and reign over the earth from the Throne of David, and every knee will bow to HIM. That time has not arrived yet.

Love In Christ,
Tom
56472  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Deck Of Cards?? on: November 24, 2004, 04:27:30 PM
Subject: Deck of Cards

It was quiet that day, the guns and the mortars, and land mines for some reason hadn't been heard. The young soldier knew it was Sunday, the holiest day of the week. As he was sitting there, he got out an old deck of cards and laid them out across his bunk.

Just then an army sergeant came in and said, "Why aren't you with the rest of the platoon?"

The soldier replied, "I thought I would stay behind and spend some time with the Lord."

The sergeant said, "Looks to me like you're going to play cards."

The soldier said, "No, sir. You see, since we are not allowed to have Bibles or other spiritual books in this country, I've decided to talk to the Lord by studying this deck of cards."

The sergeant asked in disbelief, "How will you do that?"

"You see the Ace, Sergeant? It reminds me that there is only one God.

The Two represents the two parts of the Bible, Old and New Testaments.

The Three represents the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.

The Four stands for the Four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

The Five is for the five virgins that were ten but only five of them were glorified.

The Six is for the six days it took God to create the Heavens and Earth.

The Seven is for the day God rested after making His Creation.

The Eight is for the family of Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives - the eight people God spared from the flood that destroyed the earth.

The Nine is for the lepers that Jesus cleansed of leprosy. He cleansed ten, but nine never thanked Him.

The Ten represents the Ten Commandments that God handed down to Moses on tablets made of stone.

The Jack is a reminder of Satan, one of God's first angels, but he got kicked out of heaven for his sly and wicked ways and is now the joker of eternal hell.

The Queen stands for the Virgin Mary.

The King stands for Jesus, for he is the King of all kings.

When I count the dots on all the cards, I come up with 365 total, one for every day of the year.

There are a total of 52 cards in a deck; each is a week - 52 weeks in a year.

The four suits represent the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.

Each suit has thirteen cards - there are exactly thirteen weeks in a quarter.

So when I want to talk to God and thank Him, I just pull out this old deck of cards and they remind me of all that I have to be thankful for."

The sergeant just stood there. After a minute, with tears in his eyes and pain in his heart, he said, "Soldier, may I borrow that deck of cards?"

Please let this be a reminder and take time to pray for all of our soldiers who are being sent away, putting their lives on the line fighting for us.

Prayer for the Military

Please keep the wheel rolling. It will only take a few seconds of your time, but it'll be worth it to read on....

Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our servicemen and women all around the world. There is nothing attached, but this can be very powerful. Of all the gifts you could give a Soldier, prayer is the very best one.

And may God bless our efforts to lead as many as possible to Him -- while there is still time.

AMEN BROTHER!

I pray that God will give us strength and guidance to share the GOOD NEWS with the lost. I do believe that the time is short, but I also believe that sharing the GOOD NEWS is an urgent matter REGARDLESS of what is or isn't happening in the world RIGHT NOW.

I believe that Jesus will come for us soon and take us HOME with HIM for eternity. Just the thought is a matter of great joy, but there is still a sadness when thinking about all of the lost people who have rejected Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

DreamWeaver Said:

The EU constitution has also raised the ire of protestant leaders by banning the mention of Christianity as part of Europe’s cultural heritage, while at the same time, including references to the civilizations of Greece and Rome, and the philosophical heritage of the Enlightenment. EU government representatives excused this revisionist view of history by claiming any mention of Christian values would upset the Muslim population of the EU.

Brothers and Sisters,

There appears to be a common denominator with many things happening today. I've looked at many of the links mentioned here and read quite a bit of the work many of you have done. I would first like to tell you that I appreciate your work, and I'm glad you are sharing with all of us. The common denominator I mentioned is this:  everything is OK to mention and accept - EXCEPT CHRIST and the things of our Lord and Saviour.

It is becoming more and more obvious that the entire world is trying to silence Christians and keep the precious TRUTHS of our Lord and Saviour out of public view. This effort is greatly advanced in Europe, but the effort in America to do the same thing is most obvious. The little gods and goddesses are OK, but ALMIGHTY GOD is being shoved into the shadows. It is very sad to see the same thing being done in America, right now and right before our eyes.

It is already a reality that Christians are being persecuted and killed in many parts of the world, and that could easily be reality in America soon. If this is a preview of the end times or the actual end times, Christians will not be able to stop it. That does not mean that we should stop trying, JUST THE OPPOSITE. We should try harder now than ever before to share the GOOD NEWS of the Gospel of God's Grace. If this is not the end times, that does not change our urgency to share the GOOD NEWS.

Brothers and Sisters, I agree that we are either seeing a preview of the end times or the actual end times of Bible prophecy being unfolded before our very eyes, RIGHT NOW.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Sister Reba,

With or without possible signs of the end times, we should:

1.  Feel an urgency to share the GOOD NEWS of the Gospel of God's Grace.

2.  Study and enjoy God's Word.

3.  Know that our citizenship is in Heaven, not this world.

4.  Give thanks for our treasures in Christ.

5.  Enjoy fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Bible prophecy is a very difficult topic to study, but it should definitely lead us to LOOK UP and dwell on our riches in Christ.

Sister, with or without the study of Bible prophecy, I love to think about my HOPE in JESUS. My hope is actual REALITY to me, as I have complete assurance of Salvation and know that God will keep all of HIS promises to us. Studying Bible prophecy is just another way to understand the joy we have and will have in JESUS.

"KEEP LOOKING UP" is one of my favorite things to do. It has everything to do with JESUS and nothing to do with this world. It is a joy to know beyond any doubt that we will spend eternity with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour forever. That assurance makes this short and difficult journey on earth bearable. For those who love Jesus, we are and should be full of the joy and peace of Jesus Christ.

Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable GIFT, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour Forever!

Love In Christ,
Tom
