56191  Theology / Debate / Re:God Can't on: January 14, 2005, 09:31:29 PM
CrystalClear,

Everything we actually know about Almighty God is in the Holy Bible and in the hearts of His children. Christians don't need one of men's dictionaries to know that Almighty God has all power, might, majesty, and GLORY.

Reference arguments, it appears that you would argue with a rock, and the topic wouldn't make any difference.   Cheesy

Maybe we could sell tickets to let folks watch you argue with a rock or yourself.   Grin  You can even pick the topic.

CrystalClear,

If you saw any facts in the twisted distortion of Michael Moore, I have some swamp land I'd like to tell you about.

It was a comedy, not a documentary.

"Absent from the body, present with the Lord." I will continue to pray for her family and friends. It was a blessed homecoming for her, and her joy is now completely full in and with JESUS.

Brother, I think that it's one of those ultra-left crystal balls that is 3/4 blind, and the remaining quarter is confused.   :D

We need to tell the terrorists of this world that they should be nice and trust in them that they will be. Them killing us around the world and coming to our own soil to kill us should simply be ignored. After all, it might make them mad if we tried to do anything about it. Maybe we misunderstood when they declared war on us and swore to kill us. The deaths of Americans around the world and in our own country are just coincidence. We should all be smart enough to figure this out and know that everything is our fault. Let's just stick our head in the sand and wait for them to come get us. After all, it would be much smarter to fight them on our own soil while they are killing our innocent men, women, and children. Who knows, maybe we would enjoy living like Israel and having no expectation of safety or security any minute of any day. On top of everything else, this would be politically correct and would finally make the ultra liberals happy.

NOT!!

NOPE! - The ultra-liberals would lose the freedom to run their mouths and many other freedoms that others paid for. In the meantime, they will stay busy bad-mouthing those who preserve their freedoms. If they stay busy enough, they can become poster children for Michael Moore.    ;D

Ammie,

I am very happy to learn about your Christian ministry at Murray State University. I just came from your web site, and all I can say is two things:  1- AMEN!  2- I will pray for your ministry.

It makes me very happy to hear about young adults who are allowing God to work in them and through them, especially on a college campus. I like to compare the attempt to build a life with the Biblical description of building a house. Without God, it is a labor in vain. One is built on the rock of Jesus, and one is built on the shifting sands. It makes me extremely happy to hear about young adults who are trying to help others build lives on the solid rock of Jesus. Education is very important, and JESUS is the most important topic.

I read about your Christian activities, and I was very impressed. Your group does sound much like the Navigators and Campus Crusade for Christ. I really think that you could get some good ideas from them and maybe even adopt some of their activities and materials. Maybe you could even form some sort of partnership with them. I know that the Navigators are all over the world. One of my cousins has been working for them for over 30 years. He is currently working in Mexico. One of his daughters and her husband are doing the same thing, and they are currently in Chile. His mother works with Chinese immigrants coming to the U.S.

I hear the same thing over and over again from many in my family who work as missionaries all over the world:  1- Mentorship  2- Spending personal time with individuals or groups to help them with their biggest needs (obviously including JESUS).

Everyone has a need to feel wanted and loved. I understand there is a feeling of being alone by many International students because they are different in many ways (i.e. language, customs, dress, etc.). I think that Christian kindness and love is one of the best gifts you can give them, obviously including JESUS who doesn't see the differences. JESUS can be the common denominator in forming Christian fellowship, even if you don't speak the same language. This is difficult and requires a lot of effort by people with different languages, but it is possible.

A hug or a smile is International. I'm thinking about an informal adopting process of becoming a brother, sister, and friend. This is a lot of work and requires a great deal of Christian love, but the rewards from the fellowship are also great. I see language classes as one of your activities, and that is very necessary. You could add some simple things in the brother, sister, and friend area (i.e. cultural exchange, music, walking to classes, introducing them to others, enjoying music together, studying for classes and the Bible together, etc.)

I hope that I've given you some ideas at least. I'll ask some family members for more ideas.

Love In Christ,
Tom

John 8:12  Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
56196  Theology / Apologetics / Re:Is Jesus God? - Part Two on: January 14, 2005, 03:00:10 AM
AMEN BROTHER HANK!!

Our Saviour Lives, HE lives in us, and we live in HIM.

There is no comparison between JESUS and Mohamed.

Mohamed is a pile of bones turning to dust.

JESUS is LIGHT, LIFE, the LORD OF LORDS, the KING OF KINGS, VERY GOD, ALMIGHTY GOD.

Mohamed was lost, undone, without God, and denied that Jesus Christ is Almighty God. Mohamed denied his CREATOR and is damned forever to the fires of hell.

Jesus Christ did not deny HIMSELF, was obedient even unto death, IS ALMIGHTY GOD, and HE LIVES!

Jesus Christ also died on the Cross for the sins of Mohamed, but Mohamed rejected and blasphemed the HOLY NAME OF JESUS!

In short, Mohamed was just a man who walked in darkness, and he refused the LIGHT AND LIFE OF JESUS CHRIST!

Finally, Mohamed will be judged by ALMIGHTY GOD and punished for eternity for his sin and rejection of JESUS CHRIST! It is too late for Mohamed to repent and be saved. Hosts will follow Mohamed to hell for eternity. For his followers who still physically live, it is not too late for them to repent, confess their sins, and accept Jesus Christ - ALMIGHTY GOD - as their Lord and Saviour forever.

It's really just as bold, blunt, and simple as the above. A Christian is being kind and loving to the lost by stating the truth. On the opposite side of the coin, it is cruel for a Christian to remain silent and help hasten someone on their way to hell. Being politically correct is simply a wimp out for a Christian who lacks the courage to help a lost person. The lost can still reject JESUS CHRIST, but it shouldn't be because no Christian had the courage to share the truth with them.

Love In Christ,
Tom

Ephesians 2:1-7  And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.

WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED?

By Russell S. Miller

Thank you for that "good" question.

God’s plan of salvation today is not difficult to understand.

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). There is no one exempt from sin. We are ALL guilty of breaking the Laws of God. We are sinners by nature and by choice, because we also choose to sin.

"The wages of sin is death..." (Romans 6:23). There is a penalty for sin. You go to work every day and at the end of the week you receive your wages. "The wages of sin is death..."

"...But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Eternal life is a gift. You cannot buy it, or earn it, or deserve it. It can only be received as a free gift because Christ paid the penalty of sin with His own blood. The love of God, therefore, has provided a way back to God in the person of Jesus Christ our Lord.

"...CHRIST DIED FOR OUR SINS...was buried, and rose again the third day..." (I Corinthians 15:3,4).

He died for our sins because there is no other way in which man could be redeemed.

He was buried that our old Adamic nature "might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin" (Romans 6:6).

He arose from the dead to prove that our debt of sin, and its penalty, has been FULLY paid (Romans 4:25).

"Therefore being justified BY FAITH, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1).

Does it get any better than this? Yes, indeed it does, for we read in Ephesians 2:7:

"THAT IN THE AGES TO COME HE MIGHT SHEW THE EXCEEDING RICHES OF HIS GRACE IN HIS KINDNESS TOWARD US THROUGH CHRIST JESUS".

God is very patient, kind, and loving, and longsuffering, but He will not be mocked of men. Consequently there is a "Hell" and "the Lake of Fire" awaiting all who reject this gift of salvation in the person of His Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. This is clearly taught in Revelation 20:11-15.

When the Philippian jailor asked, "What must I do to be saved?", the Apostle Paul answered: "BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, AND THOU SHALT BE SAVED..." (Acts 16:30,31).

This is the one really important issue of life, and there is no time like the present, to make that decision to trust Jesus Christ as your own personal Saviour and Lord.

If you cannot say, "I know I am saved and I'm going to Heaven", then I exhort you to trust Christ as your Saviour, right now, and God will bless you with all the bounty of Heaven, and more.

"BUT GOD COMMENDETH HIS LOVE TOWARD US, IN THAT, WHILE WE WERE YET SINNERS, CHRIST DIED FOR US" (Romans 5:8).

"LOVE WITHOUT HYPOCRISY"

By Russell S. Miller

"Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good" (Rom.12:9).

The Pauline epistles have much to say about "Love Without Hypocrisy". The meaning of hypocrisy is simple enough -- playing a part rather than actually living the part. The television is clearly an instrument of hypocrisy. The world is full of actors, all pretending to be somebody they’re not, whereas believers in Christ ought to be living a true life for our Saviour. The love with which Timothy’s mother and grandmother cherished him, however, was most assuredly not produced by Hollywood. What a testimony his life and character was to the truth of God’s Word. See II Timothy 1:5:

"When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also."

The word "unfeigned" is translated "without dissimulation" in Romans 12:9 and "without hypocrisy" in James 3:17. It is also found in II Corinthians 6:6; I Timothy 1:5; and I Peter l:22.

The word "love", of Romans 12:9, was not produced in Hollywood either. It is that "love of God" (Rom. 5:5,8; 8:35) that eternally secures believers in Christ with "all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies" (Eph.1:3). But our local assemblies would do well in "denying ungodliness and worldly lusts" (Tit.2:12). This would produce so much more for the cause of Christ through "His constraining love" (IICor.5:14). If believers of all walks of life would only "be filled with the Spirit" (Eph.5:18) they would not "fulfil the lust of the flesh" (Gal.5:16). This is why Paul writes Timothy:

"Now the end of the commandment is charity [agape] out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned [without hypocrisy]" (ITim.1:5).

Peter wrote to the Jewish remnant, "scattered throughout" Asia Minor, "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently" (IPet.1:22).

"A pure heart, a good conscience, and unfeigned faith" produces the kind of true love, that balance in the Christian life, that brings forth fruit, unto God.

"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh" (Gal.5:16).

AMEN BROTHER JOSHUA!!

I plan to spend much more time with this study. It fits in perfectly with many of the things I am studying now, so thank you brother for all of the work.

I'm absolutely positive that Almighty God will keep all of His promises to Israel. His appointed time may be soon. Jerusalem will be the focal point for the entire world. A terrible period of 7 years approaches, and it will be followed by a 1,000 year rule and reign of Jesus Christ from the Throne of David. People won't be laughing about Bible prophecy during this 7 year period of time, nor will they be laughing about Israel. In fact, it will be a time of horror and destruction. All of Bible prophecy will be fulfilled at God's appointed time, and no power on earth will be able to stop it. It really won't matter what world leaders want to do or not do. GOD'S WILL BE DONE!

Love In Christ,
Tom

The Diet Worked:

A blond is terribly overweight, so her doctor puts her on a diet.

"I want you to eat regularly for two days, then skip a day, and repeat this procedure for two weeks. The next time I see you, you'll have lost at least five pounds."

When the blond returns, she's lost nearly 20 pounds.

"Why, that's amazing!" the doctor says. "Did you follow my instructions?"

The blond nods. "I'll tell you, though, I thought I was going to drop dead that third day."

"From hunger, you mean?" asked the doctor.

"No, from skipping!"

I disagree, God is omnipotent. He CAN do any and all of those things. He chooses what to do and what not to do.

WRONG! I choose to believe GOD and HIS WORD. HE is HOLY and you are not, so I will listen to HIM and HIS WORD.

One would have to dismiss the Holy Bible and call God a liar to make the statement you just made. Is that what you intended, or are you just trying to start another argument?

???  I think that someone is in the Twilight Zone.   :D

This was a top issue in a recent election. It was very recent, but it appears that many have already forgotten the results. If the Armed Forces had been the only ones allowed to vote, it would have been a Bush landslide. BUT, we all got to vote, and it was still a strong Bush mandate.

Maybe the news hasn't gotten out yet:

Pastor Roger,

It seems that every time I turn around, the name of Paint Shop comes up. So, I just made up my mind to get it. I also understand it is great for folks who like to work with graphics and animations. I do some volunteer work for Christian web masters, but all I have right now is freeware graphics programs with small amounts of horsepower.
