1  Fellowship / Just For Women / Does God want us to have fun? on: February 02, 2007, 03:06:17 AM
My question is Does God want us to have any fun? I know we are supposed to live every minute for Him, but does that mean that we aren't supposed to have fun because having fun would me we are focused on ourselves and not Him? Is it possible to have fun and still be looking for opportunities to serve Him? Does any one have any scriptural references to back it up one way or the other? I just had a conversation with my fiance and he believes that if we are having fun we are fulfilling  our selfish nature and are therefore not focused on Him. I believe that you can have fun while serving Him. Any opinions or Biblical references to this? Huh

I am usually on here about 2-3 times a day reading posts and checking to see if I have any responses on my posts.  Smiley

Thank you all for your advice and prayers. I really do appreciate them all.  I ask that you continue to pray for me. I am having some trouble getting myself motivated to go to the gym and cook my meals when i get off work. I am a hairdresser, and i stand on my feet about 8 hours a day, and then 4 days out of the week, I am heavily involved in activities/studies at my chruch. I get home from work, and I feel tired and my feet and my back hurt, and I don't have much enthusiasm or motivation to go to the gym to work out or go out for a walk. I know its just a mental block, because I have done it before. I just need to get over my mental block and I asking for you to pray for that for me also. Thanks again for the support.

Thank you all for the help, I have really taken into consideration all of your suggestions. Maria, were you ever able find those recipies and tips for me? I am interested in what they are. Amorus, would you be so kind as to re post your comments, i am interested to see what you have to say, even if you think that it was repetative of what was already posted. I am still struggling with trying to make the necessary changes, but I am trying. I ask that you all keep praying for me.

That would be great if you could e-mail me some of the info. I haven't had a chance to look for that book yet, but hopefully this week will yield me some time to do so. Thanks for the help and the info.

Sister I have a book called body by God,

Do you know who the author of that book is and where I might be able to buy it? Also, does anybody have any opinions to offer about the book "The Maker's Diet"?

Tongue  Hey Ladies (and those men who read these), I need some advice and tips on losing weight. A quick run down of what I'm dealing with, I am 5'8" and weigh approximately 300 pounds. I have finally reached a point where I am disgusted with myself, and want to really get serious about losing the weight. I want to do it the natural way, with no surgery. I want to get healthy in the process and not take any kind of weight loss medications. Anybody got any suggestions on what worked for them? I'm open to all ideas and help that you all can offer. Thanks ahead of time for your help. God Bless!! Smiley

Thank you all for your prayers, we have worked things out and are moving on with our life. Looking back over the whole situation, i can see where i over reacted and made some impulse decisions. I just ask that you all continue to pray for us not only in our relationship with each other, but also in our relationship with God as we are still new at it and Satan has been working mighty hard at breaking us down. Thanks again.

Thanks you guys. As far as him being christian, he is but we are both new christians that are trying to get rid of old habits and find ourselves stumbling This last fight we had was over something trivial that I seem to have a problem with and found out today i get that from my mom. The results of my actions and his temper was part of the old habits he is trying to change and he also stumbled last night. I just ask that you all keep us in your prayers. Thanks for all the support. Wink

My boyfriend of nearly 3 years and I had a big fight, at least I thought so. So because I needed someone to talk to, I went to the Pastor at our church for sound, biblical advice. When I told my boyfriend where I had been, he got angry, saying that I alienated him from the church by dragging them into our business. If I can't go to my Pastor and my church family for advice, who CAN I turn to? Was I wrong, should I have tried to work it out with him first?
