16  Theology / Debate / Re: Why is Evolution a banned topic? on: January 26, 2006, 03:02:34 PM
whisperedsy
Since this is a Christian forum and as Christians our faith and beliefs are Bible based. So let's look at the big picture. From what I know about evolution.
1. It claims that the universe and earth came about with a big band. The Bible Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the Earth. There was no big bang. I am sure that when God spoke heaven and earth into exists it may have sounded like a big bang, but I doubt that. Since God who is a mighty big God could have just wispered it to exist.
2. Evolution, Man came from moneys, apes or whatever they believe. The Bible, Genesis 1:26  And God said, Let is make man in our own image, after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and overthe fowl of the air, and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 2:7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

So if we look at these 2 things there is a lot of contradiction. How can the universe begin with a big bang when God created it and how can man come from whatever when God formed him out of dust of the earth and breathed life into him. By the way, man is not evolving from monkeys, apes or whatever today. When did this stop and when did we begin to have children of our own?
So, JoeyCrossy now you see how evolution can not be allowed in this forum. And to your comment about you know Christians who believe in evolution I would have to question their walk with God. Joey, you said you were not a Christian so maybe it is hard for you to understand why we as Christians feel so compassionate how we feel and belief. I challenge you to take a Bible and your evolution ideas sit them side by side and compare the 2 and see if you can see our side of our Christian beliefs.

17  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re: Wanting to go to the arms of Jesus on: January 24, 2006, 02:45:49 PM
Well, I just got home from the funeral for my dear sister in Christ. Now I know why God waited so long in taking her home. What a witness she and her family has left. There was an ICU nurse who was ready to quit her job because she has watched so many people die with no loved ones around. Then enters into the hospital my dear sister, her hope and all of her loved ones gathering around her. It gave the ICU nurse a rekindling of why she does her job. Everyone who went to the hospital to see her knew she was ready to go home. She kept asking why God hadn't taken her yet and she was getting so frustrated because she was still here. She made sure that her children knew where she was going and had them promise her that they would one day see her in Heaven. When someone would make a comment about seeing her husband in Heaven, she would come back with first I want to kiss the face of Jesus and then I will talk to my husband. LOL, I have never came away from a funeral with such joy in my heart.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. Sister Donna went home to be with the Lord on Sat. night. Praise the Lord, no more pain, no more sorrow. Praise the lord, she has been healed and made whole.

Thank you airIam2worship, LOL I just talked to my husband and he slipped last night and pulled his hernia in his groin area, so it looks like he will have to have surgery.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. I found out that hospice has taken over the care of Donna. I am sure God is using her to witness to some of her family members, because they are not Christians. I am hoping that she can reach those that her husband couldn't when he was dying.
Sorry I have not been on much, but my husband who has COPD(emphysema) is in the hospital being treated for pneumonia. I went to the doctor yesterday and she told me that I have it too. She told me that since my husband is in the hospital she was going to try and keep me out. I feel fine except for the coughing which can get pretty bad at night. The doctor gave me a shot, some pills and coughing medicine. So I am sure I will be fine soon. I am taking my youngest daughter to the doctor today to have checked out, since she had the flu last week.
Take care everyone and God bless you.

Thanks everyone for the prayers. I found out Sunday morning that Sister Donna's body started to shut down. I have not heard anything thing else. I am not sure why God has allowed her to live this long, but I know He is in control and His will is being done in this woman's life. Please keep the prayers going for peace and comfort for this family.

Talkercat,
I understand when you say we can't worry about his Salvation, because if we do that just takes all of our time and energy away from doing God's will in our lives. I have prayed for him and I know God has already saved him. He just needs to realize it, admit he is a sinner and accept Jesus as his savior.

I met my husband while working at a gas station. I was not were I should have been in my walk with God and took the first person who came along. Here I am almost 19 years later married to a non-christian man and not sure when or if he will ever serve God. I know God can save him, but my hubby has to realize that he is lost and needs Jesus. That is my prayer.

25  Theology / Debate / Re: First Fruits on: January 10, 2006, 02:12:16 PM
I am wondering what do you consider first fruits. Is it just money or do you think we should also consider or prayers, fasting and time as part of our first fruits? First fruits are suppose to be done the first week of the new year. Since I was not aware of this I am going to begin this week.

Hi all,

I just want to get your thoughts on first fruits. Do you think we should follow this? Do you think it pertains to today's life? And exactly what should first fruits include?
I heard 2 people talk about this pass week. I wasn't sure what it was, because I don't remember hearing anyone preach on this. One lady in our church did first fruits and boy God has really moved in her life since she did this 2 weeks ago.

Bob,
Thank you and I know the Lord can heal if he wants to. I think that there are times when we need to allow people to go. We can hold people to this world, but why would we want to. If someone is fighting to stay yes we should pray for that. She is wanting to go, so I am and our church has released her to the Lord. His will be done here on earth as it is in Heaven. What a deeper thought I have of that now. I guess I shoudl have worded it that way instead. We release her to God's will.

Please say a prayer for a sister(Donna) in my church, who ready to go to see the Lord. She has a flesh eating virus and is not expected to live(2% chance). The doctor had to remove one leg up to the hip and the other just below the knee. She is rejoicing in the Lord and is ready to go home. Since this is her wish I am praying for the Lord to take and give comfort to the family. She has already told our loving pastor what her wishes are for her funeral. May God be with her family and friends and give them peace and ablility to rejoice that she is no longer suffering. What a testimony for lost family members of this dear sister. We also lost another member(Bro. Bob) of our church family this weekend. Prayer for this family as well.

29  Theology / Debate / Re:TONGUES - A SIGN on: January 06, 2006, 11:11:38 AM
Thank you for your comments. Like I said before on this subject GOd is the same yesterday today and forever, so if that is true then tongues is for today as it was back on that great of pentcostal day. I was just wondering though someone made the comment about tongues not being used in biblical ways. I was wondering in what biblical way is tongues not being used?

GKB,
I am going to an Assembly of God Church(A/G). My grandfather was a Foursquare Gospel Church Pastor, but I don't remember much since I was very young at the time. My dad married my stepmom and we went to a Nazerene Church until I moved out. My mom and dad about 30 miles north of where we lived and began going to the Church that we are in now. Through circumstances my husband and I moved into my mom and dads house which they no longer lived in at the time, but still went to church out here. When my oldest daughter was 3 they began to take her to church and did the same with my youngest. That is when I began going back to church with my mom and dad.

I guess I should have had in my response that when someone is saved they are filled with the Holy Spirit. I believe that there is a difference in being being filled and being baptized in the Holy Spirit. So one can be saved without being baptized in the Holy Spirit, but when you seek a closer relationship with God I believe that is when you are baptized in the Holy Spirit and the evidence of that is speaking tongues. I don't believe that is where we should want to stay. I think that with the end of time coming even quicker that we need to seek other gifts such as discernment of spirits. We should not allow ourselves to become comfortable at any one stage of knowing the Lord that we should seek everything the Lord has for so we can be equipped with his power and knowledge to do the battle we have been called to do.
May God bless us all where ever we are our in walk with God and He put a desire in our hearts to seek a deeper walk with Him.
