391  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:Persecuted for Righteousness Sake on: December 12, 2005, 01:48:38 PM
Asaph, you've probably hit the nail on the head.  Something burned him on religion . . . but what could have possibly burned him on FAITH?  It is when I am resting on the Lord that my husband becomes the most vile!  I can't even come close to repeating the language he uses - one might expect to hear it in the lowest gutters of the biggest dives in the most corrupt cities. . . When my husband is cursing the Lord, he truly sounds like he's demon possessed.   Cry Shocked

All this haven been said, I have to also tell you that Bill is very good to me.  I have everything I need.  He never tells me "no".  He's a lot older than I, and treats me like a precious jewel.  He's soft spoken and yet, very protective.  I'm disabled and he stays at my side everywhere we go so that my wheelchair won't be bumped by someone.  He does anything I can't do on my own i.e. vaccuuming, lifting heavy objects or reaching onto a high shelf.  I've been asked before why I stay in the marriage  Huh and my reasons are plenty.

Just because he's a nonbeliever right now does not mean he won't be saved.  I'm holding on to God - He's in control and will deal with Bill someday, and who knows?  He may already be!

I appreciate sooooo very much the support I get from other christians.  It can be very difficult for me at times dealing with Bill's distain for God.  I pray to Father God to let my faith, my humble attitude and gracious living be an influence to Bill. . . now it's up to the will of God.  I know to whom I belong and I won't be wearing Bill's tennis shoes on judgement day.

392  Fellowship / You name it!! / Don't know where I went wrong ... on: December 12, 2005, 01:11:27 PM
Thank you, Maria, Tom and Pastor Roger for your kind and encouraging replies - I don't know where I went wrong in offering to pray for Praise1 but I guess I offended him/her in doing so.  Cry    . . all the more reason to pray, right?

I'm growing fonder and fonder of the people here and all three of you are on my prayer chain!  Not just a list, for my sole prayers, but on a chain that I lead through my church . . . It grows longer every day as we add people to it.  The Lord is with us as we hold each other up in our everyday lives.  This site is blessed - God uses His people in every way possible (including the internet) to spread the gospel and the good news of Jesus Christ.

So my sister, and brothers PRAY ON!  Jesus Rocks!  God is Awesome! Glory, glory, glory!  Holy is His name!  My heart's on fire for Jesus!

Blessings -

ps: Sister Maria, I have responded a couple of tiimes to your offer of information on the names of God - YES, by all means use my email address.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Smiley
393  Prayer / General Discussion / Re:No Christ in Christmas, no holiday to celebrate. on: December 10, 2005, 11:23:25 PM
Amen Brother Tom!!   If I go into an establishment that does not greet me with "Merry Christmas", I walk out!  I'd rather shop or eat somewhere else.... been doing a lot of shopping on-line and making my own pancakes!  Grin

394  Entertainment / Books / My Imagination on: December 10, 2005, 07:39:17 PM
I have started reading anything I can get my hands on written by Max Lucado .... his work is geared toward the new christian and is very educational and inspirational.  I've been able to back up everything he says by reading the bible for myself.  He flavors his teaching with humor and personal experience, making for an interesting story.

Reading strictly christian literature (getting away from the Stephen King novels I used to hold so dear) has really helped me to grow as a christian. I also stay away from movies with graphic language or gratuitous sex (leaving me with Disney).  The only TV programs I watch now do not have suggestive plots (again, leaving me with Disney - or classic t.v. such as Leave It To Beaver) and I've replaced my old music cd's with christian music and praise songs.  I'm making every effort possible to keep sinful thoughts from passing through my mind.  Books, movies, and music cause images in one's mind and I want my images to be of Christ and my inheritance in heaven.

395  Entertainment / Laughter (Good Medicine) / The Tribute on: December 10, 2005, 07:21:31 PM
A young lad of about seven years old stood quietly in the foyer of the church sanctuary.  His eyes were steadfast on a tribute to America's soldiers that was hanging there.  After a few minutes the pastor approached him and said: "Beautiful, isn't it?" "Oh, yes sir, it sure is" replied the boy.  "It's a memorial for those that died in service" the pastor told him.  After thinking for a minute, the boy asked "Was it the 10:30 service or the 3:00?"   Wink

Onward christian soldiers!  Marching off to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before . . .

We truly are living in the last days.  Watch and pray, for we know neither the day, nor the hour.
397  Theology / Debate / and another thing ...... on: December 10, 2005, 06:50:49 PM
my husband tells me that my bible is "wrong" because we rewrote it to exclude the name 'Jehovah'.  He said we replaced 'Jehovah' with 'God' or 'Lord' to make it fit our beliefs!  O man, do I need help!  My husband has been brainwashed by the WatchTower ......

398  Theology / Debate / Re:JEHOVAH WITNESSES on: December 10, 2005, 06:22:16 PM
My husband used to be a practicing JW... although he's a nonbeliever now, he still tries to compare my bible to theirs.  He quotes scripture (so does Satan!) and says their bible is the same as mine, that I'm just ignorant to the truth!  He has cursed me, referring to me as a "f**king christian" and that all christians are "liars, cheats and thieves" - there is no way I can compete with the filth that comes out of his mouth except to praise the Lord audibly, rebuke Satan audibly and promptly leave the room!  Cry

Is my husband a typical JW?

OK . . . . . Now, I am taught from the bible, what are JW's taught from?  Sorry to be so hard-headed about this, but I just don't understand their thinking - it's like they're brain washed.   Huh

400  Theology / Debate / Re:WHAT ABOUT PASTORS WHO LET THIER CHILDREN... on: December 10, 2005, 03:06:29 PM
I know I'm healed! Sure, one of my legs is missing and I'm slowly going blind, but I AM HEALED.  God uses His vessels here on earth to do His work; and but for the surgeries I've had, I'd be dead.  It was life or limb for me and by removing my leg, my life was spared - viola! HEALED!  And some day soon,  I'll leave this wheelchair behind and dance in heaven.  If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: I'd rather be serving Him from a wheelchair than have both legs and not know Him.....

Hello Mills!  I don't think I've had a chance to welcome you to the CU Forums - so WELCOME!  As you have already discovered, there are a lot of loving christians here that will support you, pray for you and never judge....

I too am permanently disabled.  My right leg was amputated three years ago and my left leg is in danger as we speak.  I also suffer from diabetic retinopathy, which causes blindness - I've had four surgeries on my eyes.  I don't mention this because I'm a complainer, I mention it to show that everyone suffers in some way or another - but NO ONE suffers like Christ did for us on the cross !

I look forward to your posts, and getting to know you better.

Thanks for clearing that up PR!  But I'd still like to know why JW's don't believe in the trinity?  It is SO CLEARLY stated in the bible!

I love your post GKB!  But I must say, you're singing to the choir!  Everyone here is already a believer - I pray that you take this beautiful message to the world of non believers!  They need you, and your passion!

I live in a small town.  My home church is of course, a small church.  It's nondenominational, which I love!  I have been able to verify everything my pastor teaches by reading the bible for myself.  If anyone has ever heard of Calvary Chapel; or know where one is, give it a visit - you may be pleasantly surprised!

I pray that everyone finds a church that is welcoming, comfortable and spiritully fulfilling.  It's all about God!  If you can't back up your church's teaching in the KJV bible, you may want to move on. . . I don't put any credence in the JW's bible or the Mormon's or any other 'bible' that has been rewritten to fit man's desires.  We are here to fulfill God's desires and to please Him by worship and in praise.

Blessings-
