76  Entertainment / Laughter (Good Medicine) / Re: How did we survive???? on: August 08, 2006, 05:18:18 AM
I miss the good ole days.  We lived next to a feild that had a swamp.  We would come home all wet and muddy and get in trouble for filling the small swimming pool with fish, turtles, frogs and snakes.
77  Prayer / General Discussion / Re: Mars- Kinda going to be cool. on: August 07, 2006, 11:28:01 PM
Well.  I fell for it to then. Oh well. LOL  Still I think that would have sounded neat.  That is not with all of the horriable stuff that you said would happen if it was that close.

Kris it's not even 5am and here I am laughing so hard I have tears rolling down my eyes, this is so funny.
Last night my husband and I went to visit my 2 aunts and 2 uncles, the youngest is 74 the oldest is 94, I took my 14 year old with us and we spent about 5 hours with them, I always enjoy being with them, but when we left my daughter (really my step daughter, but she's been mine since she was 7) asked me, "Mom, does your uncle own that retirement home?" Now I'm reading this and also remember when she was talking about one of her teachers "who's like really old, like 30 or something" ROFL

ROFL.  That is cute.
79  Entertainment / Television / Re: Good Clean TV on: August 07, 2006, 12:10:17 AM
Lately I don't watch alot of TV.  I hate some of the stuff on TV.  I try to guard what goes into my mind.  Things that I do like to watch is:  I love Lucy, The Fresh Prince of Bel-aire, sometimes the Cosby show, and cartoons, cartoons and oh more cartoons. Grin

Scary movies terrify me.  And I absolutly hate bad language with a DEEP passion!
80  Entertainment / Movies / Re: Mel Gibson's "true self" - I hate satan. on: August 07, 2006, 12:04:37 AM
Amen Beps, Mel Gibson was critizied for his great film the Passion and now he is being critizied for this. The bottom line is that if you are a Christian you will be critized by unbelievers not matter what you do.

I for one admire Mel Gibson for his quickness to repent and publicly ask forgiveness, and even go a step further, and put himself in a rehabilitation program, that alone proves he is a much better person than his accusers.

I agree with what you say.

It did disapoint me when I found out what happened.  But I do realize that he is just a person and will make mistakes.  I feel that he is being attacked more for being a Christian and like you said for his film.  If this was any other celebrity then I feel this story would be done and over with.  I feel that this is a example of to why we as Christians need to watch how we live our lives because nonbeleivers are ready to pounce at any little stumble we make.
81  Prayer / General Discussion / Mars- Kinda going to be cool. on: August 06, 2006, 11:50:24 PM
My grandma sent this to me and I thought that I might share it with you guys.  I'm not sure how true it is.  My grandma is always sending stuff from her friends but if it is true I think that it will be cool.

  Mars

The Red Planet is about to be spectacular!

This month and next, Earth is catching up with Mars in an encounter that
will culminate in the closest approach between the two planets in
recorded history. The next time Mars may come this close is
in 2287. Due to the way Jupiter's gravity tugs on
Mars and perturbs its orbit, astronomers can only be
certain that Mars has not come this close to Earth
in the Last 5,000 years, but it may be as long as
60,000 years before it happens again.

The encounter will culminate on August 27th when
Mars comes to within 34,649,589 miles of Earth and
will be (next to the moon) the brightest object in
the night sky. It will attain a magnitude of -2.9
and will appear 25.11 arc seconds wide. At a modest
75-power magnification

Mars will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye.
Mars will be easy to spot. At the
beginning of August it will rise in the east at 10p.m.
and reach its azimuth at about 3 a.m.

By the end of August when the two planets are
closest, Mars will rise at nightfall and reach its
highest point in the sky at 12:30a.m. That's pretty
convenient to see something that no human being has
seen in recorded history. So, mark your calendar at
the beginning of August to see Mars grow
progressively brighter and brighter throughout the
month.

Grin   Grin   ROFL!  -  Thanks Sister Kris - this one is a keeper, and I'm already retarded. I don't escape very often, but I'm dangerous when I do.   Grin

Oh boy Grin LOL.  I knew that you guys would like this one.  Oh hey that reminds me I wanted to send something else.  I think that you guys will think that it is interesting if it is true.  I'm not sure where it goes.  I think that I will put in general discussion.  *shuffles off*

GRANDPARENTS

After Christmas, a teacher asked her young pupils how they spent their
holiday away from school.  One child wrote the following:

We always used to spend the holidays with Grandma and Grandpa.  They used
to live in a big brick house but Grandpa got retarded and they moved to
Florida.  Now they live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look
like grass.

They ride around on their bicycles and wear name tags
because they don't know who they are anymore.   They go to a building
called a wrecked center, but they must have got it fixed because it is
all okay now, and do exercises there, but they don't do them very well.
There is a swimming pool too, but in it, they all jump up and down with
hats on.

At their gate, there is a doll house with a little old man sitting in it.
He watches all day so nobody can escape.  Sometimes they sneak out.

They go cruising in their glf carts.  Nobody there cooks, they just eat
out.  And, they eat the same thing every night: Early Birds.

Some of the people can't get out past the man in the doll house.  The
ones who do get out, bring food back to the wrecked center and call it
pot luck.

My Grandma says that Grandpa worked all his life to earn his retardment
and says I should work hard so I can be retarded someday too.   When I
earn my retardment, I want to be the man in the doll house.  Then I will
let people out so they can visit their grandchildren.
84  Fellowship / You name it!! / John 3:16 on: August 06, 2006, 10:49:06 PM
John 3:16

A little boy was selling newspapers on the corner,
the people were in and out of the cold.

The little boy was so cold that he wasn't trying to sell
many papers.

He walked up to a policeman and said,
"Mister,
you wouldn't happen to know where a poor boy could
find a warm place to sleep tonight would you?

You see, I sleep in a box up around the corner there and
down the alley and it's awful cold in there for tonight.

Sure would be nice to have a warm place to stay."

The policeman looked down at the little boy and said, "You
go down the street to that big white house and you knock
on the door. When they come out the door you just say
John 3:16, and they will let you in."

So he did. He walked up the steps and knocked on the
door, and a lady answered. He looked up and said,
"John 3:16." The lady said, "Come on in, Son."

She took him in and she sat him down in a split bottom
rocker in front of a great big old fireplace, and she went
off. The boy sat there for a while and thought to himself:
John 3:16...I don't understand it, but it sure makes
a cold boy warm.

Later she came back and asked him "Are you hungry?"
He said, "Well, just a little. I haven't eaten in a couple of
days, and I guess I could stand a little bit of food,"

The lady took him in the kitchen and sat him down to a table
full of wonderful food. He ate and ate until he couldn't eat
any more. Then he thought to himself:
John 3:16...Boy, I sure don't understand it but it sure
makes a hungry boy full.

She took him upstairs to a bathroom to a huge bathtub
filled with warm water, and he sat there and soaked for a
while. As he soaked, he thought to himself: John 3:16...
I sure don't understand it, but it sure makes a dirty boy
clean. You know, I've not had a bath, a real bath, in my
whole life. The only bath I ever had was when I stood in
front of that big old fire hydrant as they flushed it out.
The lady came in and got him. She took him to a room,
tucked him into a big old feather bed, pulled the covers
up around his neck, kissed him goodnight and turned out
the lights. As he lay in the darkness and looked out the
window at the snow coming down on that cold night,
he thought to himself: John 3:16...I don't understand it but
it sure makes a tired boy rested.

The next morning the lady came back up and took him
down again to that same big table full of food. After he
ate, she took him back to that same big old split bottom
rocker in front of the fireplace and
picked up a big old Bible.

She sat down in front of him and looked into his young face.
"Do you understand John 3:16?" she asked gently. He
replied, "No, Ma'am, I don't. The first time I ever heard it
was last night when the policeman told me to use it,"
She opened the Bible to John 3:16 and began to explain
to him about Jesus. Right there, in front of that big old fireplace,
he gave his heart and life to Jesus. He sat there
and thought: John 3:16 -- don't understand it, but it sure
makes a lost boy feel safe.

You know, I have to confess I don't understand it either,
how God was willing to send His Son to die for me, and how
Jesus would agree to do such a thing. I don't understand
the agony of the Father and every angel in heaven as
they watched Jesus suffer and die. I don't understand the intense
love for ME that kept Jesus on the cross till the end.
I don't understand it, but it sure does make life worth living.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life.

Ok, I'm going to be totally random here.

I just got rid of my hiccups and this is a method that I found on the internet.

Ingredients = 8 oz. glassWater
Instructions = Fill 8 oz. glass with water.
Take 10 consecutive swallows of the water (don't stop in between sips). Let All of your air then suck it back in and hold breath for 10 seconds.Make sure you actually hold your breath for the whole 10 seconds. Let air out. This works for me - you may have to repeat once but usually works first time.

I was all excited that they are gone so I thought that I would share. Cheesy  Some of you might think that I am strange and crazy but others might all ready know that side of my personality.  But anyways I thought that it was cool that it worked.

Hello Sister Kris,

We've been missing you and wondering where you have been. If you stick around, we'll give you a donut to go with your coffee.

So, how's things going for you?

Things are going good.  I just got back from Mackinac Island yesterday.  We had fun.  I went horse back riding.  I'm not sore anymore from that. We also went to castle rock.  My dad likes to go there.  It reminds him of his childhood Roll Eyes.  We also fed deer.  There was a deer ranch and we saw white deer which I thought was cool.

Hey,  I made a garden this year.  It is actually growing because I remember to water it Shocked.  Before I had it behind the garage and would forget, so yeah, everything grows better with a little water Cheesy.  I'm getting tons of tomatoes and summer squash.  I'm also growing watermelon, pumpkin, strawberries, cucumber and green pepper (not doing well with green pepper).  I'm proud of my little garden Grin.
89  Fellowship / You name it!! / Re: Coffee Time! on: July 15, 2006, 01:01:33 AM
Hello, everybody.  How's it going.  I haven't yacked in a while.  This has been a trend with me.  I stay and chat for awhile and then I wonder around doing my own thing.  Just checking in to tell you guys that I am still alive.
90  Theology / Apologetics / Re: Faith Damaged by 'Da Vinci Code' on: May 27, 2006, 01:13:13 PM
Quote
And frankly, If I start going to church every Sunday (which I want to do) my parents will think I am crazy, and they will never let me forget that I am just another “religious freak” as they describe people with faith. I wish my parents would wake up and smell the coffee.

I feel stuck, all around me I see hypocrites. They are having premarital sex, doing drugs, going against God’s word and not thinking a second though about it.

I wish I could the peace I had with God before I was deceived by Satan.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Someone has to break the mold and do the right thing to follow God.  It isn't your parents or anyone else's aproval that you have to get but God's.  You have to choose wheather or not you want to please God or your parents.  Who cares what anyone else thinks of you.  When you stop careing and worrying what others think of the relationship between you and God is when you are going to feel closer to God.

As for the Da Vinci Code.  Maybe you could post what is bothering you and we could answer some of your questions.
