496  Theology / General Theology / Re:Can a Christian Lose Their Salvation? on: January 12, 2004, 06:57:07 PM
We couldn't loose our salvation because when we accept Jesus, He says that He takes away our sins from our past, present and future.  The difference from us and Adam and Eve is when they were on earth Jesus didn't die on the cross yet.  That is why I believe that we can't loose our salvation.  If He didn't wipe away all our sins and sacrifice His own life then we would still be giving alter offerings for our sins to be forgiven.

God wants us to rest on the sabbeth day and to keep it holy.  I don't see why worshiping Him on Sunday is wrong.  Doesn't He want us to worship Him everyday. Keep the sabbth day holy, wouldn't we still be doing this if we choose to worship God on this day?

Jesus healed on the sabbeth day, He was doing that for others.  The decipels were shocked when He did this.

Sunday worship is for God, it isn't for us, so why is it wrong to give God praise on Sunday?

Can you provide any scripture that says that?  I can and have produced a lot of verses that preach a different understanding.

Quote

Ephesians 1:13-14 " In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."

Ephesians 5:30 "And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption."

Romans 8:38-39 " For I am persaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principatlities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall (be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.") (which I looked up the side bar for this meaning in my bible and it gave me John 10:28)

John 10:28" And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them our of my hand.

John 10:29" My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

I don't understand what you mean.  It is likely that any answer that we give you, you won't except anyway.

Did you ever try praying for an answer instead of resisting God?

Your actions leave me fustrated and your post makes my confused.  I feel that it is not my job to discuss this with you for possibly none of our answers will satisfy what YOU want to hear. So I won't be posting back, moveing on.

Imagine Jesus being born, growing up and becomeing a man.  Then He goes out to tell people about God and they reject, mock him.  He is tempted by the devil in the desert and overcomes that.  In His life He overcomes mockery and then ultimently death.

They made Him carry His cross, which had to be extremely heavy.  This after he fasted for 40 days and then had one last meal with His deciples!  Can you imagine the difficulty in that, just fasting 40 days had to make Him weak and dizzy and I'm sure the heat didn't help.  They whiped Him severly, nailed His hands and feet to the cross, which is extremely painful, put a thorn crown on His head and gave Him vinager to drink.  Then they mocked Him until He died.  Was this a fair death for our Lord?  No.  It should have been us that died.  Should He have had that life full of mockery? No. Can you imagine the pain that He felt when the very people that He came to save rejected and made fun of Him.  Man, He must really love us.  Look how terrible people treat God and He still loves us.

I bet you that, that girl that you love won't die for you.  Human love is only a conditional, but God's love is unconditional, you can do anything and He still loves you.  Why would you want to cause so much pain to someone that loves you so much.  Can you imagine how God feels.  You are hurting because of your girlfriend, He is hurting because He gives you immessurable love and you just push Him away.  He won't go away.  If you are trully saved you are stuck.

What will happen if your girl friend dies. Once she is gone she is gone.  Why would you want to hold on to something that you can loose?

I just want to illistrate how much God loves you.  Please, God loves you don't let the devil decive you.

Wouldn't that be like then saying that by works you are saved? Because you aren't saved by works.

No it is not like saying you are saved by works.

Salvation is a free gift.  There is no amount of works or faith that can save us.  If the gift is not offered freely by God through His grace we cannot be saved.  So we are saved by6 grace.

We must accept the free gift though, God does not force Himself on us.  The scriptures tell us that we accept the gift through a living faith, not a dead on like the demons have.  What is the difference between a living faith and a dead one?  One is accompanied by works and the other is not.  Faith alone is without works, so it is dead.  Works perfect and enliven our faith and perfect it, so they are mandatory for proper acceptance of the gift.

Every place in scripture that speaks against works, speaks against using works to attempt to fulfill the letter of the law to make God owe us salvation.  That is not possible.  But Jesus showed us that we can fulfill the spirit of the law.  Love fulfills the law, so works of love fulfill the spirit of the law and thus lead to life.  Even then we do not merit salvation, faith to move mountains and works that completely fulfill the spirit of the law stillwould not merit us salvation because they are so puny in comparison to what God deserves.  Salvation is a free gift and faith and works are just our way of accepting, cherishing and holding on to it.

You are saying that God gives a free gift if we accept it, but you are also saying that God can also take away the free gift, so we have to be good to maintain it.  That is by works.  First you accept God, then, you think, by works you maintain salvation.  Which works do not maintain salvation, but by works and obedience we glorify God.

Well since we are on the topic of talking about bodies, what about donating body parts when we die, or what about donating blood.  I know that we are not allowed to drink blood, but what about donating it to accident victums, if they accept it would it be a sin?
504  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Re:Signs of the time in an average news hour. on: January 06, 2004, 08:52:24 PM
If you look at it times are getting worse and worse. So I say is it getting close for Jesus to return? I with it is closer.  I know that the world is becomeing rotten, but how bad does it have to be, before Jesus comes back? No one knows accept the Father.  Yes there is signs, but is that the begining of the end or are we getting close to the end of the end. If that makes sense.  Anyway I think that we can bicker about it until we are blue in the face, but where does that get us.
505  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:stressed on: January 06, 2004, 08:28:23 PM
Now the court date is moved again. It was moved one time because the court had to do a murder case. Now it is moved because our lawyer's dad is sick and he has to go to Florida and because the judge is going to be gone that day.  This is crazy.  We have been living like this for a year.  At least we aren't being stalked by the accusers anymore.

Romans 11:2 " God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew."

Romans 8:38-39" For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

We are making it Ok so far. We have had ups and downs.  The biggest help is God.  I know I would be going nuts if it wasn't for Him. Please pray for my family on the 12th.  That day we have a court date set.  Please also pray that the person that falsely accused my family member desides to tell the truth, because if that person doesn't then my family member could get 30 years of prison for something he didn't do!  I think that we should do fine though because that person changed their story about 4 times now!

Thanks for your prays,
Kris
