481  Theology / Debate / Re:Abortion: Right or Wrong? on: February 15, 2004, 08:56:35 AM
Ok. This is getting a tad bit heated here (stated lightly).  Broken, yes we shouldn't judge you. What you stated in the bible about judgement is true.  I will also state a bible verse to back my position up too.  Thou shalt not kill.  I just think that it is so easy to some people to have an abortion because after all, what is a two celled organism worth?  What is the difference, we can just reduce it down to a measly animal right? It can't talk or think.  The difference is that it is a person, I believe at that point with a soul.  God gave us control over animals, but is slaughtering animals for the heck of it a sin.  I believe so. So either way it would be a sin.  Did you see the abortion pictures on that website. How can any one be Ok with that?  Have you ever held a baby, spent time with them?  I just find it impossible to dislike, abuse, or throw them away.

Again, not judging you Broken, seriously, I just want everyone to see how precious children are.

I can't think of anything that I would ask him, but I do believe that he should be put to death.  I just hope that he would become saved before he died though.  I don't know if that will happen, but pray for it.

You can lose your religion.

Once Saved Always Saved.

The Crusader

DITTO Grin

Yah, me too. DITTO, kind of.

I think that people that are saved will stick with God and when they do wonder away they will come close to Him again.  But I believe that you can't loose salvation and what micheal_legna is saying about faith and works I think that if you are saved faith and works should go hand and hand.

Hey, I love my kitty kitties.  I have four of them.  They listen better then our dog.  Only weird thing about one of my cats is that one of them likes to eat french fries, hamburgers and when she is upset she yells like a mountain lion.

Another interesting question that I thought of is what about twins?  Or what about when sciencetists seperate stem cells, and put them in the mother's womb, I wonder if each one then gets a soul?  So then what if someone fertilizes an eggs outside of a womens body?  I know that these are questions that you guys probably can't answer but I was just always curious about this.  Thanks guys for your responses so far.

Does a ferret make any kind of sound? Or do the people being bitten make all the noise?  Undecided

A ferret makes a sound like clearing your throat.  Mine only go after feet. LOL. Yah the owners make most of the noise.

The topic of embryo research and stem cell research has came up in class before and of course we say what we think about it.  I am against it by the way.  It is just when we were giveing our thoughts in class a question poped up in my head.  When do our bodies get their souls?  Is it when the egg and sperm meet?  Because when Jesus says you are saved you are made whole, so would that be the same for our body and soul?  I know that you guys probly can't answer this but I just thought this very interesting.

This is when Jesus is in Samaria and tells this women to give Him a drink of water.
John 4:13 -14 " Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life."

John 6:33-35 " For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.  Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst."

So when Jesus says that you must be born of water and of the spirit. He is saying that you must believe in Him and have the Holy Spirit to be saved.

My intupritation in blue or my words.

I read some pretty interesting verses in John that are about salvation that I think you all will like.

John 3:27 "John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven."

The water that Jesus is talking about is believeing in Him it is the water springing up into everlasting life.  So when Jesus says that you must be born again by water and of the spirit He is saying that you must believe in Him and have the Holy Spirit to be saved.  He is not talking about a literal water baptism, but a spiritual one.

John 5:24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."

John 6:40 " And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:47-51 " Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.  I am that bread of life. Your father did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.  This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.  I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

Jesus is not talking about literally eating bread and drinking wine.  He is talking about spiritualy eating Him, or accepting Him.  When we eat bread and drink wine in church that is in remembrance of Him.  We don't literally have to eat bread and drink wine and say that this becomes his body to become saved.

My favorite one. This is after many of the people that were following Jesus left.
John 6:67-69 " Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.  And we believe and are sure that thou are that Christ, the Son of the living God.

Isn't the above verse awesome?! I think that it answers micheal_legna's question if a christain can loose salvation, he wanted a bible verse to prove that you can't and God showed me one.  The people that left were the ones that followed Jesus and then left Him.  They were the ones that were not saved and were only interested in Him for the miracles that He could do.  God then asked His deciples if they would leave Him.  Simon Peter replied that we are saved and have eternal life and that we will not leave you, because we are sure that you are our salvation.  So once you become saved you DO NOT leave God. Smiley
494  Prayer / Prayer Requests / Re:stressed on: January 13, 2004, 07:10:31 PM
The date got moved to some time in March.  Right now it is just long and drawn out.  We're hanging in there.  I think the only think that this has done so far for damage is stress (both my parents have to work the same shift so now I am playing mom. Don't get to see my parents much.  When we are at school they are home and leave for work a little before we get home, then they get home at 11 at night)

But it has also done good things like brought us closer to God and brought our family closer together.
495  Theology / General Theology / Re:Can a Christian Lose Their Salvation? on: January 13, 2004, 06:34:32 PM
If we sin unrepentantly we can lose our salvation.

What do you believe happens when you sin and don't know that you have sinned.  In saying this, if this was the way it is, then you would never know if you are saved or not.

I think that you must repent when you become saved.  After that if you sin and forget to repent or don't repent then you are still saved. I believe then when you get to Heaven the rewards that you could have gotten will be less because of your sins, and that you will also get punished for your actions on earth but still make it into Heaven.
