1  Theology / Prophecy - Current Events / Chief Justice Rehnquist Dies on: September 04, 2005, 10:12:44 AM
RIP, William Rehnquist

This is really gonna shake-up DC. The Clintonian Reactionaries have already sharpened their hacket men to oppose to Roberts, and now they'll have someone else to castigate.

The big question is....Will a replacement be named before or after Roberts confirmation hearing?

So where are the Saints gonna play their home games this year?
3  Theology / Debate / Re:The Lord's Supper. on: September 01, 2005, 10:09:07 PM
Phil -
I think it's the other way around - I don't have a problem with taking communion with a Catholic - but as a protestant, I'm forbidden Catholic communion unless I convert.

At least that's how I always understood it.  Huh

The only rule for accepting communion where I worship is to be right with Jesus.  You could be a purple two-headed non-practicing homosexual tattooed anomaly from the deepest jungles of Lower Ecuador (Catholic) and you’re welcome to communion in our house – as long as you’re right with the Lord.  Smiley
JN

Hmmm...I've been to Catholic weddings and funerals, but now that you mention it, I don't remember them offering Communion. I know you have to get baptisted to be wed in a Catholic Church (both my brothers did), but I hadn't realized about Communion.

I guess the Catholics are a racist lot! Roll Eyes

Goodness Gracious...This poll is running 4-8 AGAINST Shocked

And I thought I had a big problem with Catholics.

By Lord's Supper I'm assuming the poll means Communion.

What's wrong with taking communion with a Catholic?
5  Theology / Debate / Re:The Book of Revelations.....The Antichrist! on: September 01, 2005, 08:23:34 PM

Firstly, the Bible does not teach pre-trib rapture, that is a total lie. The bible says that we are going to be changed AT THE LAST TRUMP. I Cor 15:52

There is actaully a wide variety of opinions on what Paul meant by the "last trump".

I'm no rocket scientist, but if I had one cookie on a plate, and my wife ate it. That's it no more cookies for me after that. Seven more cookies don't appear out of thin air. It's illogical. Or three and 1/2 if your a mid-tribber. Grin

Figurative, NOT literal.

Well you certainly right about the "rocket-scientist" part(I actually am , BTW). The Book of Revlations is filled with a lot of allegory, metaphor, and figurative language. Nevertheless, it will eventually be fulfilled LITERALY.

Anti-Christ, mean anyone, or any (system) that opposes God's boundry. His word, ALL of it is his boundry for us who believe in Him as our only savior. If we change, or try to move that boundry set up by God, we are by definition a Satan (an adversary one who withstands) as in Ps 109:6, or an anti-Christ!

God has no boundaries. That is the nature of free-will. All is just for the Christian, although all may not be beneficial. Check it out in Romans.

BTW, the word "Anti-Christ" never appears in Revelation. Only the "Beast" and the False Prophet.

I kinda like your style 'one sheep' but you need to do a bit more studying.
6  Theology / General Theology / Re:What is wrong with cloning? on: September 01, 2005, 12:00:33 PM
I agree that God is the only on that create a soul.Do scientists have any idea what the implications would be if their clone had no soul?

I saw a program on Origins that specifically addressed this. The scientist (who was definitely against cloning) felt that human clones WOULD have souls.

Another interesting point he brought up was that scientists have created human-bovine(cow) hybrids. He felt it was attempt to circumvent laws against human cloning.
7  Theology / Debate / Re:The 6/6/06 Coincidence ? on: August 30, 2005, 10:24:32 PM
The Bible Codes are NOT a tool for predicting the future, although they may have been placed by the Creator to give us a warning.
8  Entertainment / Sports / Re:ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!?!?!?! on: August 29, 2005, 06:15:55 PM
Steeler Fans pretty much sold me on the fact people take football much too seriously when they put up the Ben Rothsthisberger banner claiming he was "Heaven Sent"

People in Western PA have raised football to the status of religion.

I'd post more about it in the "Why America Isn't Mystery Babylon?" folder Dreamweaver started, but BronzeSnake would pile on the invectives.
9  Theology / Debate / Re:Biblical proof for the Rapture on: August 29, 2005, 12:20:47 AM

Tim Lahaye is just a storyteller who knows nothing about prophecy.

I guess you never read any of his non-fiction stuff, huh? Roll Eyes

I used to be a big football fan, but as I 've grown in my Christian life, I've become more and more convinced major sports (football especially) are a form of idol worship.

Of course, I'll still follow the Penguins, at least until Mike Lange retires.
11  Theology / General Theology / Re:The Ten Commandments on: August 28, 2005, 05:19:53 PM

Sin is still defined, but over 600 laws and ordinances were boiled down to only 2, and the 2 are LOVE! We could also talk about Christian Liberty under Grace, but we could also talk about prudence in that liberty or abuse of that liberty. The big problem arises if we take our eyes off of JESUS and the CROSS and look to the Law. We should all know that the Law never Saved anyone, rather it's purpose was to condemn. NOW, we have the GOOD NEWS of JESUS and the CROSS!! - there is no condemnation for those in JESUS!!

AMEN!....Well said
12  Theology / Debate / Re:reading the "original" Bible on: August 27, 2005, 05:14:31 PM

Real Bible Study takes considerable time, and it's worth every second of it. The common things that I like to stress is putting everything into context, identifying the speaker, identifying the audience, identifying the purpose, and following all links to references and comparisons. YES! - a good concordance is a must. Word studies from the ancient languages clear up many misunderstandings.

Very sound advice, blackeyedpeas.

It's a good idea to understand the history of the times as well, especially when studying the Old Testament.

Also, one of the most useful resources of the interent, are concordences which allow you to look up the actual Greek or Hebrew word. That allows the reader to make his own decision on how accurately the passage is translated into English.
13  Theology / Debate / Re:The 6/6/06 Coincidence ? on: August 26, 2005, 08:16:24 PM
Guess "it's time" to start a topic on the Bible Codes! Grin
14  Theology / Debate / Re:The 6/6/06 Coincidence ? on: August 26, 2005, 03:22:20 PM
Always amazing to see how Christians ignorantly dismiss the Bible Codes as some sort of prophecy tool while neglecting to see how it is perhaps the graetest tool of Apologetics yet revealed by science.

In Drosnin's original book, he, himself an atheist, concluded the Bible Codes were useless for prediciting the future, yet their seems to be a concerted effort within the Christian community to the Bible Codes as a 'sooth-saying tool'.

I'm beginning to get the impression this may be symptomatic of the latest rise in anti-sematism, such it was Hebrew scholars that found the Bible Codes.
