I'm pretty sure that in Acts 15 they are talking about Christians who are not Jews...  according to M. Jews they were never told not to obey the law, in fact that it's called an everlasting covenant, that Jesus obeyed the law. (not the man made rules about the law such as not helping someone on the sabbath)

Thanks Pastor, from my understanding a messianic Jew would answer you that these verse do not free a Jew from the law on the Gentile... that the law doesn't save but it must still be followed... I'm a bit confussed by this and am not representing their thoughts well... but I would like to have a solid biblical response to them.

Hi, I'm not sure where to post this question that is nagging at me so, I thought I would ask it here.  Do Christian Jews need to follow the laws?  I understand that  Messianic ( I think that's what they call themselves) Jews say that they were never told not to follow the law, it's only us, the Gentiles that don't have to follow it.... is there really a distinction between Jews and Gentiles in this respect now that Jesus has offered himself up?

Hi, I just wanted to say that I believe the drawing happens first... I think that if God does not draw us to himself then we would never  believe in Jesus!  If you have come to Jesus for salvation the God has drawen you!  Maybe I'm out of line here but I don't believe that a truely repentent person is ever turned away from God!  He did not die and now says no to people who come to Him, it's His will that all come to Him  and be saved.   Your job now is to believe!  It's a job because like you said, you cannot always feel it.  You just need to believe, and to believe you must hear the word, so read your bible and keep prayinng and seeking and God will bless you for it.

I know that many catholic people get very offended/defensive with things like this and many times it seems to me that the people who were killed for not being catholic are made small.... like they died for nothing.... I don't think that we know the whole story.  anyway, if anyone catholic or protastant could give me their thoughts on this that would be great!

Hi, I've been doing some research and I can't understand why Catholics baptize babies, it just seems completly unbiblical to me.   I know that they use the verse that says "the whole house hold" was baptized but I know a lot of house holds where there are no babies... seems like a weak argument, and if you can stretch it and say that obviously babies were baptized you could then use it to say that dogs and cats were also bapitzed.  I've always understood that the outward act of baptism was suppose to represent something that already happened in our hearts.   A baby cannot "give their life to the Lord"  they can be dedicated but they cannot choose to serve the Lord.  So why do churches baptize babies?

Yes, I agree, changing languages you can have a change in the feel of what is being said.  I read the bible in english and in spanish and there are many places where the "feel" is different.  I also agree that God can and does protect His word.  If we can't trust the translation then the word of God is not for the common person... isn't that who He came for?
